remote mines have become less of a tactical device and more of a grenade replacement now that they have the thrown ability.
there are two things that i would suggest to fix their lack of tactical usage. those two suggestions are
1: remove the thrown ability and make them place only. this will not take from their ability to stick to about anything. if the thrown ability is not removed i do feel it needs to be limited in distance extremely. if a remote mine stays as it is you may as well throw a Semtex grenade.
2: is to give them an arm time. once the remote mine is planted via toss or place their should be an arm time that will have to take place before the owner can detonate it.
i support both options, and it is my hope that both are heard and used. and to those that would defend them know that i too use these devices and even i know they are broken as they are.

They're fine. If anything, the throw speed needs to be increased. Getting more than one stuck to a tank before it can zip away is pure luck at this point. |

OP must be a heavy that's sad because he can't just stand inside of a room and mow people down with his HMG with out anyone but another heavy to take him out.
and he said unto them, "Bring ye all your trolls, that they shall feed".

Umm they can only be thrown like 2-3m, a grenade can be thrown like 30m.
Plus they already have an arming time, use them and you'll notice it.
We already fixed remotes, they are fine now. If you died, you were bested, just move on. |

You're talking rubbish, the item is a remote explosive and should be placed exactly like the Proximity Mines. not thrown like a grenade.

The placement time is just fine too, it would after all take time for your arm to actually do the work, no just have it done instantly.

We need to **** these "Remote Explosives" in the ass and get contact grenades back. It would be perfect the C4 COD clones, they where awesome. Just make a increased explosion range variant. I, personally, used one that did like 400 dmg on impact, and boy was it easy to kill someone with that kind 'f split second firepower.

1) 'Thow range' is about 3-4m only slightly more than other equipment,
2) There is a delay with throwing of about 1.5 secs enough to kill the attacker before he detonates
3) User can no longer detonate while clone has lost consciousness, however dead man's grip is still active/capable
The only way people are 'throwing' these are literally sprinting full pelt into a running jump to carry the momentum, for a large number of people this results in suicide by reds and detonating upon respawn. RE does not need changing, they are an explosive and they will be used for kiling people, lots of people . . . . . . and tanks and lav's and installations and dropships and equipment.
P.S RE's cannot be detonated mid-air the 1.5 sec delay happens after the RE has stuck, which sometimes(certain terrains) can be a very long time.
P.P.S RE's are currently the best counter to an Ants-Nest, Ant-Nest just shouldn't be possible.
P.P.P.S RE's are also the best counter to a brick tanked heavy with a logi, but requires skill to pull off.
P.P.P.S Because of the 'throw' mechanic RE's are a good counter to Killer Taxi LAV's

I notice REs most of the time and when I don't I usually die. Is this irritating? Yea! Do I want them nerfed? Hellz no!
Currently they are my only line of defense against tanks (gonna spec into Swarms eventually but until then I gotta work with what I got) and the throwing mechanic also grants me more options when mining up a point.
Have I used them for demolition runs? Yup. When the enemy team consists entirely of vehicles, heavies, and logis there is very little you can do to clear out an underground objective.

you cant just throw a claymore and have it armed in mid flight. you have here a pack of explosives connected to a computerized remote trigger that is tied into the computer unit on your arm. when placing a RE its computer must first initialize then sync to the suits remote signal. that doesnt happen over the space of a half second while in mid flight. and the "arming time" your talking about is nothing more then the lag between trigger animation and detonation. that is not an arming time. that is the time it takes for the signal to be sent, recived, and processed.
also to the one that says the throw is 2-3 meters... i call bull. aiming up with forward momentum and a jump you can send that RE much further then its intended throw distance. it is this that allows players to use RE's in place of grenades.

i hate how heavies are more common than even scouts so the only ethical way to deal with them is through remote explosives but oh wait....they got them nerfed. the sentinel has a reduction to splash (which is unbalancing) and i cna no longer go in throwdown my explosives get killed and detonate them... if heavies want so many hitpoints they should lose speed/lose 5% hp (due to how common they are now). and while ccp is at it they should buff all the assault rifle varients for gallente to make them viable cqc heavy killing rifles.
