PLEASE READ THE POST IN ITS ENTIRETY. THANK YOU!
I know this will be considered extremely unpopular by much of the community, but I'd like to put forth a serious proposal to remove tanks from Ambush (PUBLIC CONTRACTS) completely.
Right now, many people are discussing AV/Tanking imbalances. While that topic is all very well and nice, it is a tough issue, and will probably take several patches to fully resolve. I don't want to either side getting perma-nerfed (being sent back to oblivion), as I do want Dust to be kept a fun and dynamic game.
However, while CCP considers this issue, Ambush, especially pub, itself is falling apart COMPLETELY due to the balancing issues. The fact of the matter is, most pub games are where blueberries go to start, and it's quite disorganized compared to say PC or factional stuff. AV is meant to be a team effort, and careful communication between MIC'ed squad members or tacit agreement between very experienced members is required in order to successfully carry out an AV operation.
The fact of the matter is though, Ambush is rarely organized. It's perhaps the most COD-like mode of all the game modes so far, as it should be heavily about infantry fighting. I don't mind if we had vehicles like LAVs and even the elusive MAVs, but having HAVs roll in and out squashing 5 or so members of a team is utterly destroying the experience for new players, casual players, and serious players attempting to relax.
With the current state of AV, the stunning lack of coordination/ presence of newberries is making it nearly impossible to stop the tankers, especially on the silly bridge maps. It's almost funny that a tank can take up to 25% of an engagement zone at times!
Some will ask "Why not just bring in your own tanks?" Well, for one, when the enemy calls in a Madrugar, and your team calls in a Soma as the first tank on the field, the game is pretty much lost, especially since some rounds have very low ticket counts (50).
So, I would kindly like to ask for tanks to be removed from Ambush (pubs) as a temporary measure.
I think that the Dust needs to just embrace the fact that Ambush is an infantry mode, and stop attempting to straddle too many fronts per game mode. Perhaps, later, we can discuss better ideas once balance comes in, but right now, IMMEDIATE action has to be taken.

I saw Milkman call in 6 madrugars in an ambush because 8 PEOPLE ON THE ENEMY TEAM WERE AV and wouldn't let him do anything.
If you need HALF of your team to run AV just to prevent ONE tank from stomping your ass, it's proof that vehicles need to just be completely removed from ambush.
Instead there should just be a vehicle only game mode (something that bettere resembles ALL of the trailers that CCP has released) where all the tanks can go have fun killing each other in a big open map.

We're talking about Pubs right now. Pub is the CORE of the NPE experience, and we're wrecking it. There are "no squads", just confused noobs and casuals getting their butts kicked. The game won't be sustainable if this continues!

Yup. Great minds think a like. Besides they wont listen to me at all after what I found at the planets core after freefalling for 3mins.

You said BIG RIGHT: experience! Noob must get it, learn how to run away, hide and atack. I said it many times, matchmaking must select merc in groups:
0-2 kk SP 2-5 kk SP 5-10 kk SP 10-30 kk SP 30 -100 kk SP
So, its no problem with tanks, but problem with merc, who cant learn. If he see tank, he not run away, he fire to tank with his AR! I saw it many. many times: tanks fire and BB go, and go, and go.... to this tank!
To learn how to fire is academy, next is a squad.

Right now, we're giving blueberries ARs/CRs, letting them play in a playground, and then expecting them to pull of Special Forces style tasks when they get into the real game.

I did see turret operations, and I saw LVL 2 and LVL 4 suits. The buildings and ground have a 1,000,000,000--- the numbers went on KD/R, and still climbing.

Everyone know that... I'm too wait for repair of matchmaking system.
But, we, and noobs started in this same game and must stay alive ;)
I rember my first steps: many, many deaths by tanks (free tanks in closed beta), many deads by scouts etc. But, i play in dust because i like eve universe, i like MMO and i collect exp.
I know, so many people hate tanks, but they cant see, so they not must kill everythink ;) some times merc must to retreat ;) |

If milkman is stomping you with his tanks it isn't because tanks are unbalanced in ambush - it's because he's got a lot of SP so his fittings are good, he's reasonably experienced as a tanker (although he's not that good) and he's got a full proto squad backing him up.
If he were sniping, and you couldn't counters nope him because his team killed you first would you QQ?
Most complaints about tanks in ambush these days are from people who don't want to do anything about it. FG is fixed now, go use it.

Finally, the issues with milkman's tank are far deeper than simply Ambush, and it's naive and dishonest to think that removing vehicles from ambush fixes anything at all; the reason you're having issues killing him? Armour repairers. That's it. Goes for every game type.
In the end, I've invested 10 of my 40M into vehicles of varying types. If you remove them from ambush I want my SP back. You want to prevent people from playing game modes (and yes, plenty of people are pure tankers)? Give us back out SP, so we can make an informed choice.

Apart from the fact that you sound like a complete apologist for tanks simply because you're enjoying breaking the game at this point with your "10 million SP" of sheer brokeness,
You must understand that ambush is not a vehicle game. If you wanted dynamic tanking and not a complete stomp 90% of the time, go to Domination or one of the other game modes. The fact is, most tankers in ambush enjoy it because they know:
a) Ambush is a concentrated gametype with infantry fighting (hence they'll have an easier time picking off the enemy team while getting support from close friendlies. b) Many blueberries to easily destroy in Ambush.
It is in my honest opinion that the tankers in Ambush are plain lazy. They are enjoying being overpowered, and don't want to invest time into properly playing the vehicle in a more appropriate gametype.
I never said this was a permanent measure (if you even read my post, which I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU DID), but should be temporarily put in place to alleviate the blueberry tank stomping. Or perhaps you don't care about the longevity of this game.

In the end, I've invested 10 of my 40M into vehicles of varying types. If you remove them from ambush I want my SP back. You want to prevent people from playing game modes (and yes, plenty of people are pure tankers)? Give us back out SP, so we can make an informed choice.

It's almost funny that a tank can take up to 25% of an engagement zone at times! Some will ask "Why not just bring in your own tanks?" Well, for one, when the enemy calls in a Madrugar, and your team calls in a Soma as the first tank on the field, the game is pretty much lost, especially since some rounds have very low ticket counts (50). So, I would kindly like to ask for tanks to be removed from Ambush (pubs) as a temporary measure.I think that the Dust needs to just embrace the fact that Ambush is an infantry mode, and stop attempting to straddle too many fronts per game mode. Perhaps, later, we can discuss better ideas once balance comes in, but right now, IMMEDIATE action has to be taken. Thank you. All vehicles from a Ambush seems fair to me as ADS also and often severely cripple and unbalance gameplay as HAV do.
Also perhaps an elimination style game mode for Vehicle Users to compensate, with appropriate team pay outs.

I have read you whole OP and while it expresses itself quite clearly, I'm going to say no to vehicle removal from Ambush.
It's interesting to note that we are in a game where teamwork is paramount compared to the lone wolf yet people do not work with each other in the game. I sent an email to a logi one time who kept repping my heavy. I sent him a note saying thanks and he replied something along the lines of "hey we are on the same team, its supposed to be that way".
Players in Ambush, hell any game mode for that matter, should be working together to take out high priority targets. You don't need an NPE to know that. It should be common sense.
I don't mind the vehicles and enjoy Ambush now that it is limited to two.
What would be good is if they provide different versions of Ambush to play. Maybe they can't do that now with the player count because it might make for less occupied slots in the game modes. But that's my proposal. Everyone can be happy that way.

I see where you are coming from. This is a stopgap measure simply because it seems that the pop count isn't going to go up anytime soon and the few new players coming in are getting utterly stomped. I don't know what else to say because I don't have the answer to this issue other than many things have to be fixed in the long run to get ambush functioning as it was intended to.

I haven't played an ambush on purpose, since... 1.3? No, that's a lie. There was one build where it was fun and stalky enough that cover mattered. Tanks were slow enough that you could get away. And you spawned roughly with your team (first spawn aside of course). It was more like what skirmish is now, since no one hacks objectives for fear of invisible cheetah shotgunners. |

Apart from the fact that you sound like a complete apologist for tanks simply because you're enjoying breaking the game at this point with your "10 million SP" of sheer brokeness, You must understand that ambush is not a vehicle game. If you wanted dynamic tanking and not a complete stomp 90% of the time, go to Domination or one of the other game modes. The fact is, most tankers in ambush enjoy it because they know: a) Ambush is a concentrated gametype with infantry fighting (hence they'll have an easier time picking off the enemy team while getting support from close friendlies. b) Many blueberries to easily destroy in Ambush. It is in my honest opinion that the tankers in Ambush are plain lazy. They are enjoying being overpowered, and don't want to invest time into properly playing the vehicle in a more appropriate gametype. I never said this was a permanent measure (if you even read my post, which I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU DID), but should be temporarily put in place to alleviate the blueberry tank stomping. Or perhaps you don't care about the longevity of this game.
Tanks have always been in ambush, no matter how OP AV was at the time. Bad argument is bad. I play Ambush with whatever I want because I can. I play ambush because I'm trying to earn money, or there are idiots to shoot there. I go into ambush because I feel like CQC tank action - despite what you seem to think, tanks don't actually just drive past each other in Ambush. The only tank gameplay I'm looking for is vs other tanks and ambush is actually a great way to find it.
