The truth is every update crashes a play style and favors a other. Fitting of the patch is a thing. Thats annoying and there is a limit to people how many times they will do that. Improving a game style experience should not punish the other game styles.
But swing out of frustration the game is unplayable is wrong. The truth is ether the game took a direction that doesn't fit you or you are to tired of the many changes.
Right now players try to dominate the game not for ISK or to have impact in the eve universe ( because the mechanics are currently broken to do one of this ) they are fighting to force the game to take the path they want. The Forums are all about pushing your favorite fitting to be the fitting of the patch. |

DUST514 is no where near, actually in another galaxy, accomplishing anything close to a competitive shooter. In fact it favors players with sshity internet connections.
CCP needs to wake up and then tighten up it's netcode, and stop carrying the "free riders".
CCP needs to realize that players with high KDR are more than very likely laggers that are ruining everyone's playtime.
CCP needs more than 3 regions, and players should not be allowed to cross regions.
Alliances and corporations should not be allowed to be constituted from cross regional assets.
MMO-RPG elements should be nerfed, until true non-FPS roles and activities are added, for example RACE+RACIAL SUIT+RACIAL WEAPONS=100% efficiency and play style balance. Is this lag I keep hearing about really a thing? or is it just a bunch of bad workmen blaming their tools? or is my PS3 just magical? I've always had a nice smooth experience with DUST.
Same here. No lag and I rarely get any bugs. This is why you should never play the game with Wifi, internet cable is much better.
If you run proto gear, prepare to suffer the consequences. You've been warned.

IMHO, We are playing a game that currently IS incomplete.
Man, what MMO doesn't even have a player run market ???
BUT... The possibilities are endless... - Planetary Assault (Not the PC bullshit that favors only hability... we need something like EvE that also favors mass Aka: Number of players in each side...) - PvE ... Drones are just the starting point... I imagine a map full of Minmatar scum ready to be wiped out by my small 6 man squad. FW would also evolve into really MASSIVE battles - Market + Industry like in EvE ... I'm a year old EVE player and i don't know what to do with at least 80% of what is sold in the EVE market... - Customization + Trophy room = Feeling of accomplishment,
That's just to cratch the surface of what's possible.

The Forums are all about pushing your favorite fitting to be the fitting of the patch. I'll try to keep this in mind going forward. I think my posts have been pretty fair so far (for the most part), though I wii admit that my posts have been mostly centered on supporting piloting. I haven't really made any original posts that relate to features of the game. That being said, I don't know much about the issues of a heavy, as I only run standard-medium and scout. This means I may not accurately address the concerns of a heavy player. Personally I don't really think there is anything I have to complain about. Don't worry, I'm no cloak scout, I can't even fit a cloak without ruining the important parts of my fits. I have not yet died by a cloaked scout, but I understand that they are fairly easy to miss. |

When ever a player feels cheated by core game mechanics, they will tend to dislike the game. For example, scout running at you in a straight line from 30m away, you unload a clip in him yet don't even bust his shields due to hit detection.
Another key issue is things in game without a hard counter. The more powerful an item, the bigger of a drawback it should have. In Dust lets just use cloaks for this. They make you harder to see than normal, and on most suits render you completely invisible to radar. There is no drawback to them at all. When killed by a player using them, we feel robbed of game balance.
When you combine core mechanic failures with things that have no hard counter, you tend to see the worst from the community in response. Whole teams spamming the same item which is hard to counter (heavies, scouts, tanks,ADS). People spanning up high with no inclination of ever jumping down into the real fight, nor really helping their team. Sh!t playstyles are born of broken games.

COVERT SUBTERFUGE wrote:If a time traveler came back to me as I was playing Lazy Jones on my Commodore 64 and said, "kid, in 20 years time there will be a spaceship industry MMO, a console shooter and potentially a VR dog fighting game tied into one universe." I'd have smashed him to death with the keyboard. Who else is doing that? You won't find another cross genre/cross platform sci-fi IP out there like EVE. Maybe it's because I can appreciate the innovative and pioneering nature of the project that I don't prance around like the band wagon haters in here. If you want a fully fleshed out FPS with balance and multi game modes **** off and go play the latest yearly installment of Modern Call of War Fighter Field Fall. I seriously feel sorry for anyone who plays this game and is bitter, thinks the game sucks or allows it to fill them with rage (the likes I've seen here and on the mic from randoms) etc. And I don't mean that sarcastically, I do. I'd never associate myself willingly to anything that makes me feel that way but it seems people are enslaved to the monetary and/or time investment and can't walk away. I'll be gone the day that I feel even a fraction of what some of the butt devastated here feel. I'm glad to have been here for the last 2 years and to watch the game grow. I like playing through the ups and downs of development and watching it grow. I'm glad I can appreciate it for what it is and keep my expectations in check...and I'm glad I'm not the kind of person that stays on a forum bitching and moaning just to try and justify their decision to not play/hate the game and/or to troll cause that's probably one of the saddest behaviors. 1.8 is awesome, Minmatar are awesome and I can't wait to see what FF brings.
Then the time traveler goes, "Oh by the way, the cross platform compatibility is comparable to Iphones have stat trackers for WoW, have a good day." Plenty of games have had multiple games across different franchises set in the same universe, CCP's claim to fame is that they will be integrated together which continues to be a pipe dream. It's easy for Devs to promise the world and give us Detroit. It happens every single day in the technology industry, look at Steve Jobs old press conferences on Apple products and look at Peter Molyneux and all his puffery on the Fable series of games. |

The people on that forum are going to be MMO gamers, who are largely PC players. Thus anything on a console is going to suck to them, they also probably hate FPS games as well.
My own personal hate for Dust is because it is so far from the game I was promised and invested in that I feel pretty much cheated by CCP.
Most tankers are like sand people. They frighten easily, but will quickly return...and in greater numbers.
