I have a 1008 eHP Minmatar proto logi fit that is getting 2 and 3 shotted my scouts with shotguns. How CCP is this possible. Its either a glitch that needs to be corrected or needs to be nerfed. |

The guy is within 5 metres of you, using a weapon that is completely useless past that. It takes him three shots from his relatively slow firing weapon to kill you.
What is the problem here? I would say its your idea that such a thing should be impossible because you brick tanked your logi to over 1000 HP.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

The enemy probably shot you more than that but only 2 or 3 sound effects are rendered on your client. It's a synchronization problem. It's one of the sad facts of life about Dust 514.

Shotgun... it's doing what it's supposed to do.
If you're shield tanking, you'll get shredded by it like a LVL 99 Super Soaker going through a LVL 1 Paper Armor. |

This is meant to be rather difficult to achieve however the current iteration of cloaks MAKES Shotguns OP, they are not OP by them selves.
Or it might be a Breach Shotgun, if it's a Breach then it's designed to kill heavies, that's its job.
Unless your a Computer Scientist don't tell me how Game Mechanics Work.

Mine fails to kill Amarr and Gallente heavies. I think it needs 4 shots. It's not like it will be OP. That's still half the normal clip size for the shotgun.

What do people think happens to the scout after he has shot someone at 5m with a shotgun and kills them?
They die, because they are sitting in the middle of the enemy, on their own, with much less hp than everyone else.
If the enemy had no nearby backup that's his/his team's fault for not sticking together.
Trouble is people are incapable of thinking about things from other people's perspective. They just think "oh I died, scouts/cloaks are op." They don't think about the risk the shotgun user has to make to get the kill.
Also if someone hits you twice with a breach shotgun they have hit you with literally an entire magazine without missing, you should be dead.
If I get shot by a shotgun in my std min logi with a std CR, half of the time I still win the engagement, so I have no sympathy for all the whinging. |

A shotgun does something like 400 damage per shot. If he landed a head shoot it would only take two volleys to kill you.

Aiming center mass within five (5) meters, a CRG-3 used by an Operation V Shotgunner will hit for around 500 damage per blast.
Within 5 meters, downward variability occurs if/when a percentage of pellets miss the target. Within 5 meters, upward variability occurs when a percentage of pellets hit the head. Beyond 5 meters, efficiency Rating drops linearly and damage potential drop exponentially.
It stands to reason that you are being 2-shotted when your adversary blasts you in the face / head, and 3 shotted when he fails to hit you in your face / head.

A HMG kills much quicker than a shotgun at much longer range so I don't know what you are talking about.
Unless you aren't talking about shotguns and just want some kind of awsome 1HK heavy weapon? Maybe the Gallente one? 1HK on any suit might be op though without a charge. Unless it's a hammer...

Adv Shotguns with a full shotgun blast = 500 hp. Proto is at 600, so don't be surprised that it doesn't kill you in even 2 shots.

I am a controller user though.

Why is this an issue? It's a SHOTGUN, how many shots do you expect it to take? Measure in ttk not in shots fired. HMGs and rifles will kill just as quickly.
Did you know my PLC can absolutely obliterate your suit in 1, count em 1, hit?! Or that a Forge gun can also do the same? Obviously those need nerfing because minimum to kill someone is 30 shots, regardless of rof. |

HMG is a fantastic weapon. Thats why I want one for my scout
Thing is, the HMG is like the shotgun. It's damn POWERFUL if you get it into range. Getting it into range is of course the challenge then.
Cloaks trivialized shotguns, but the heavy still faces a similar challenge to pre-1.8 scouts. Positioning.
Heavies are not solo characters. You need squad support. Squad mates should provide enough covering fire to get you (and your logi) into position. You draw the fire as you advance. Squadmates should provide enough counter-fire to kill the targets, or make them duck behind cover.
Once you reach them, it's game over. Anyone who is decent with a Boundless will WRECK anyone they get into range with. With a logi, it would take several mercs combined fire to take you down. If you abuse cover, and pop in and out while spraying HMG, you should win most fights.

Shotgun scouts rely too much on tacnet and passive scans. If you aren't on their tacnet, they won't go after you.

I run a 500 hp mini/amarr logi and everything wants to kill me and often does. So OP needs to get a grip. Just cause you've got 1000hp shouldn't make you immune. Running logi often means you are the first to die.
