OH GOOD THANK GOD!
Please Sabrewing almighty responder of threads.... please steer the current events paradigm away from arbirtrary and arcadey challenges and bring them back to Lore based events with unique rewards and factional choices like Caldari Prime did.
No event since that one has been nearly so well received by the community. Please take this opportunity to bring the narrative of New Eden into the games we play and also make us as players feel a part of New Eden.

Honestly, we would love to run these events more frequently. There is a serious load on the dev team whenever they're made though and we're trying to prioritise things effectively right now.
For instance, it shocked me to see just how much work went in to just creating custom sky-boxes, let alone the maps etc!

I can only imagine, but as a player I have to say that is what impressed me the most, that the dev teams went out of their way to make such a change for such and event, and because of that I really appreciated the event. Thankyou CCP for that it was incredible.
However custom skyboxes are not wholly what makes the event what it is. Perhaps a map could display an unique socket lay out that we rarely see, or a slight alterations to terrain or objective location fitting with the lore. Events in their own right could be used to introduce content features as well if something missed release at patch X,Y,or Z you patch the event in and release the content under special circumstances.
Its the small details like that which gets the wider communities appreciation.
Perhaps even depending on our win/losses we could affect the outcome of the plot. I distinctly remember how polarised the community became during the event. Everyone took a side, everyone fought for their chosen faction, everyone looked up when the first spawned in and died because they were staring at the Titan.
And those unique rewards...commemerative dropsuits, very limited edition, they used to be prized vanity items in my stocks....not anymore since the State Protectorate Suit went Orange...... but none the less were symbols of the campaigns we had served in..in their own right.
Thanks for hearing me out though.

While the Titan skybox and bits of Titan parts scattered on the map were frigging awesome , that wasn't the main reason I consider Caldari Prime to be the best event as of yet. It was the lore connection, the rewards, the fact that we had an impact on what would happen next.
Anyone remember the time when we had a series of events right before Uprising that had impact on the New Eden lore? The fall of Tibus Heth, historical gathering of the Tribal Council which set the path for the Matari to abandom democracy and reinstate the council, those were things we dusters played a part in to make it happen. Maybe if the Bragian Order had succeeded in defeating the defending Sebiestor Field Sappers and conquering Vard II, the Tribal Council may have not gathered and set the story on a completely different path.
The events where we have an impact and gain unique rewards from are the best, not just arcade-y competitions with aurum items and SP as rewards. As Kador said, it doesn't have to be anything grand with custom skyboxes and huge battles going on in space at the same time. Just a simple loredrop along with the event to explain why it happened, and slight adjustments would happen depending on the outcome.
For instance, a Caldari corp could try to take control of a Gallente research facility to steal new blueprints for weapon tech. If the Caldari win, the cost of rail rifles go down while the price of assault rifles goes up ane vice versa if the Gallente win. Or maybe a Kameira with vital data about Amarr tech has escaped his slave master and is trying to leave Amarr. Minmatar try to defend a VIP, in this case a CCP actor, throughout the match while Amarr try to kill and capture him. If the Minmatar win, they can get a brand new dropsuit with a unique fitting layout(like the Black Eagle scout), or the Amarr get their own unique suit if they win.
These kind of events that let us influence the game and the overall New Eden universe, even if they're just small fluff events, are the best and those I really crave. Please CCP, do more of these kind of events!

Honestly, we would love to run these events more frequently. There is a serious load on the dev team whenever they're made though and we're trying to prioritise things effectively right now. For instance, it shocked me to see just how much work went in to just creating custom sky-boxes, let alone the maps etc! I agree with CCP Saberwing. There are MANY more important priorities right now.
These might be cool to do again eventually (TM) when the core is in place, the playerbase is growing steadily, and its bringing in enough money to expand the staff, and recoup development costs. I think the whole Caldari Prime thing and the Templar stuff was a HUGE misappropriation of development resources at the time. If all of that effort had been spent on core mechanics and NPE, this game might have double (or more) of the current players right now. If we had those numbers, we'd presumably be able to afford a larger team, and would have seen changes happening much faster. I think it was one of the worst blunders by the last EP.
Now I love my Templar gear, don't get me wrong, but the whole event was such a waste of resources at the worst possible time.
Best PvE idea ever!

I'm not suggesting they shift focus to priming events..... all I am suggesting is that perhaps once the game reaches a specific level of developmental stability we consider moving away from the established class, SP, or weapon based challenges and get back to events that make us a players feel a part of the universe we inhabit.

No, they are nerfing them in to the ground. Like you have to use the side arm, no more light weapon. And you will see even less logis on the BF.

If that was the case i would be getting 25000 wp in a match. 5 ob just by me ?? go home. |

Jeezz what a moron...
Do you even know how much a decent logi fit costs?
When I need money, I run militia fits or a cheap heavy...
Being top of the board doesn't mean that we get enough money to cover our expenses! If I die more than three times in my advanced logi fit, I'll usually loose money!

waistr wrote:So why are all the events skewed so against logis? Pretty much because they don't like Logis.
Logi suits were the breaking point for many WP exploits (at least in early Beta). CCP/Shanghai seemed to take offense at that and Logi WP has been on a consistent target for getting hammered. Sometimes with many tiny little whacks and other times with huge steam hammer blows.
Rotten Assault suits result in many players using Logi suits which makes --> Slayer Logis! Nerf Logis. Why would we fix the Assault suits so they were good assault suits? Heck they ruined shields so nobody would run Caldari Assault you silly Merc.
Design a system, leave it in place for over a year and then gut it. All while saying no, it is just a rumor except that the rumor and the truth actually matched perfectly. Now, too bad, so sad.
I have not skilled back into Logi. I won't until the medium suit reshuffle happens. Which means what exactly is unexplained nor is there any time frame or ETA for it to be resolved. Not even a SOON(bs) from Devs.
Nor I have skilled back into Heavies. Same thing. Until they determine how bad the Nerf Hammer is why spend the SP?
Either way it doesn't pay. Skill into Logi, get Nerf Hammered with no SP reset. Skill into Heavy, get Nerf Hammered with no SP reset.
I got to admit these guys are consistent. Although, coming from me that is not a compliment.
And so it goes.

And they are going to Nerf it again so a Logi won't be able to fit a Cloak Shield. Sweet. Unless you use it of course.
And so it goes.

That's pleasing to hear Sir Sabrewing. Nothing would make me happier and a huge fan of the lore and game than to feel like a person inhabiting New Eden.
As much as most people consider a game to be a game.... I like to consider New Eden an experience, and such kinds of events that tie us to the greater universe serve only to enhance that experience in a manner only you guys are capable of.

FYI - The SMG has low CPU/PG requirements and is great for close quarters combat. (And it is a sidearm.) and extremely comparable to the AR from a performance standpoint.
And you'll see true logibro wherever there is need on the battlefield. If something is required ... from hives to uplinks to sticks to reppers and scanners we will be there.

I would make money, But I'm too busy dishing it out to the community. Helping newer players get a jumpstart. Besides if I wanna grind ISK I can. I could make more than 10m a day easy if I had that time to play. Running my ADV gear gets boring after awhile, Though, And I prefer using all of my proto equipment to get better results -- Like 100% revives or speed repping. Its better for the team if I can do my job quickly and move on.
Mainly though, Between helping newcomers & playing CFW, I stay pretty balanced with ISK.
