All the racial weapon bonuses really screwed me up when it came to choosing a suit.
I'm specced into weapons I would never use in my commando suit, I don't need 10 play styles, I'd just like to make my choice now that we have the racial suti skills.

- We aren't whining. This isn't whining, this is a well-reasoned request from paying customers.
- eing a man has nothing to do with playing Dust. We've already earned the SP, but due to many weapons being missing from the weapon list in 1.0 - 1.6 we weren't able to make educated decisions on what weapons we wanted. We are just asking to be able to put that SP where we would have put it if our weapons WERE ACTUALLY IN THE GAME.
- Will be happy to, just as soon as CCP provides us with a weaponry respec.
1. As a "paying customer" you have the right to receive the agreed upon goods and services at the agreed upon price exactly as it that good or service was represented to you at the time of sale. Everything else is courtesy. Buying AUR doesn't make your position any more or any less valid. "Well reasoned" is bit of a stretch because the only reason I've heard isn't actually very good but that's only my opinion.
2. They will always be adding new content. You want another respec when the new vehicles come out? When pilot suits come out? Do you want a respec every time something new comes out or is there some certain criteria? EVE is over a decade old and they are still adding new ships so when does it end?
3.EVE players have never had any SP refunded unless those skills were completely removed from the game and we are happy. Granted in EVE all when something new was added it would always be for all 4 races at the same time, but still it was something new. Perhaps the issue lies with your expectations and not the game?
NOTE:I am aware there was an emergency reset of SP shortly after EVE Online was released but that doesn't really count.

The newest faction ships in EVE use the Amarr and Gallente skills, so you get bonuses for those.
If I can have my AR skills work for RR or CR then that would be fine with me. But a reset might just be simpler |

- No no, paying customers have more of an effect on CCP's decisions that others. If you genuinely believe that they are as concerned with F2P'ers as they are with people who give them money then you are naive. I agreed to give CCP my money, you are right, and that entitled to me to the good/service that was available at the time. I paid for the content in 1.0 and that was the content I received. If CCP wants me to pay for 2.0 forward then they are going to strongly consider a weaponry respec.
- This isn't a case of NEW content. It's a case of MISSING content. We lacked rifle diversity at launch, as well as sidearm diversity. What was I supposed to do? Just bank all of my SP until my rifle of choice was released? How would I know when that was? They never told me even an approximate time for the rail rifle to be launched so how was I supposed to know? Should all of us just made characters and let them sit, accumulating SP until whatever it was we wanted went live? That sounds thrilling
Eve had full racial parity at launch. Stop trying to compare apples and oranges.
- See: Eve had full racial parity at launch. Imagine if Eve launched but drones and laser weaponry didn't exist... when those weapon systems were finally released you are damn straight the players deserve an SP refund so they can skill into the system that compliments their race.

Heavy laser/Blaster -We've got all of the sidearms now which is nice. -Minmatar Sniper Rifle needs to be finished and retire the tactical sniper -Burst AR and TAC need to be removed as they were only placeholders. -A long range light Blaster weapon should be introduced to replace the TAC as a blaster bonused weapon. It can use a new model but be it's own skill and weapon.
Then I would agree to a weapon respec. Asit sits we'd end up needing another respec in 6 months. Have faith it's almost time. Then there will most likely be one final respec when they introduce minmatar and ammar tanks, LAVS, ect.
Let them take their time but they need to be open and get our feedback into consideration... We're still missing racial knives and light AV. Man I want them gallente knives

While I am all for a weapon respec, giving respecs like this simply takes away from CCP's "every decision counts."
After all, why do we gain SP? We learn from our mistakes, passively, and actively ))

It wasn't warranted.
Besides, with heavy weapons due to be released at least relatively soon, I fully expect a weapon respec then.
There's little to no case to be made to ever refund dropsuit upgrades.

The way I see it, I agree with you, BUT the big problem lies with CCP's ability to mess around with the programming just enough that for every update they screw up one or more of their weapons. And once again it appears to be problems only for certain clients. Some people are finding favored weapons to be next to useless (for me its the assault CRs needing 2 clips to take out 500 shields, or the assault forge guns misfiring 4 out of every 5 shots) and want the ability to get out of a broken weapon field. For me though, if CCP decides to do a weapon respec I want them to ONLY do it after getting full racial weapons across the board.
This means a mid-range rifle, maybe a short range rifle, a long range rifle, a smg, a pistol, nova knives, AV shoulder mounted weapons, heavy short range, heavy long range, and heavy explosives. And I don't think that explosives are ANY race's. I DO NOT think that the Flaylock pistol is Minmatar nor do I think the Mass driver is either. Lore wise, or Eve wise, the explosives have been considered Caldari weapons, but if CCP chooses to make Rails their chosen weapon, then Explosives has to become a shared weapon type. Every race can use them and every race should get a suit with bonuses to them (Don't all have to be the same type of suit though).
Sincerely,
Your Multi-purpose Everything User

I submitted a formal petition to CCP Customer Support requesting a Weapon SP respec before 1.8 dropped and was kindly told in Corporate speak to go **** myself slowly. Good luck with this petition. |

You're not that important. Businesses depend on customers to operate. You are a customer and they really don't care about you or what you want. The only consideration is what is best for the game and the players as a whole.

Should all of us just made characters and let them sit, accumulating SP until whatever it was we wanted went live? That sounds thrilling I expect you to grind out the SP for it just like you did for whatever weapon you've been using. I understand that wasn't the one you actually wanted but I don't care. You think that because it isn't fair that you should get the SP back. I know that it isn't fair. I just don't give a ****.
Everyone has SP sunk into something they don't want anymore or something that got nerfed into oblivion. You're not special. What people should be debating is whether refunding SP is good or bad for the game and whether or not it is reasonable to expect players to grind out the SP for the new weapons.
I say refunding SP is bad for the game and it is reasonable to expect players to grind the SP for the new weapon.
OR
When they have all the racial weapons in the game you can swap your SP from your current weapon to whatever the comparable racial weapon . Each skill would be a direct transfer so if you trained Proficiency III that SP is automatically allocated to the new weapon's proficiency skill. In the case of something like sharpshooter if the new weapon doesn't have it then the SP will be returned to your unallocated pool. Sadly I don't think that this is feasible due to technical reasons but I just wanted to throw it out there.
When I say that refunding SP is bad for the game I don't mean moving it from one rifle to another rifle. I'm talking about actually refunding it so that it can be used for something completely different. That's why I say no refund and grind it out because I don't think option 2 is possible.
