In a Planetary Conquest
We just had a team of at least 5 or 6 heavies on a city map... The enemy had more heavies, and our deployment screwed up because our dropship rolled over...
And OH MY GOD. HMGs everywhere slaughtering us. Even me in my MAXED OUT AMARR SENTINEL. All the kills were HMG kills.
I take it back CCP, keep up the good work, NERF THAT ****

That's pure crap. We had enough heavies to counter that IF this was balanced, but it's not. There were 3 logis on 6 heavies running around. Even if we killed the logis the heavy would still be left slaughtering everything.
Our corp is GOOD AT KILLING. We got slaughtered because heavies are OP and unbalanced. PERIOD.
NOT TO MENTION my amarr sentinel HMG resist bonus was NOT APPLYING because of the spawn glitch

Heavies Survivability is awesome.. It's what everyone asked for forever...
Their damage output is crazy though... They can't be the best tanks and DPS on the field..
Heavies should have their damage output adjusted not the Healthpoints reduced.
Such backwards concept for a heavy in terms of a fix it's mind boggling... |

The thing is that the nerfs on the rifles are damn near negligible and I could see CCP taking you advice and making the hmg he BB gun it used to be. Before 1.8 a heavy could Kill you before you breached his shields BUT only within 20 m. Heavies are exactly where they need to be imo

I can promise you there'd be RR and CR heavies everywhere. We had a high HP suit, low DPS HMG for months and the result was that the HMG went almost extinct.
Nerfing the suit is the right way to go, I'm not sure if 20% is the right number though, maybe 10 or 15 would be better. Don't see how high DPS is a backwards concept for the heavy, the whole point of the suit is to carry a damn minigun. |

Low ground CQC is dominated by heavies. They spammed heavies because you wouldn't use the counter, which is high ground with mass driver spam. I assume you were on a cargo hub.
If you were on a production facility, you have no excuse because heavies are worthless outside of the computer room. High ground saucer overwatch destroys them.
If you were on a surface research lab, you also have no excuse. Underground point is dominated by overwatch in several areas and is open to orbital bombardment. High ground point has several angles to flank from, as well as a higher-ground landing pad atop the bridge that can effectively be used to out-range and destroy any heavies on point defense.
So basically, your "perfect team" got outplayed. Having better gungame is not the answer to every situation. |

I don't think Sentinel's with Rifles can compete with rifle specialists now. Commando's with that 10% damage buff and decent health, destroy fake heavies...
HMG DPS wasn't low when fully applied.. But the problem with the HMG wasn't it's stats... IT was that literally the HMG bullet spread was a Pixel... A singular Pixel.. There are 50 posts on it and Youtube vids documenting it. Once that got hotfixed the HMG worked. |

Firstly, Forge Gun has been crap since 1.6. Secondly the Gallenete Heavy can tank direct forge fire and be core repped high enough before the second Proto Assault Forge can fire.
Secondly, I don't agree with the Heavy Nerf because I been having a crap time with the low EHP of the Caldari heavy and not able to have 5 squad mates core rep me.
Forge Changes needed Officer Splash 3.0, Proto 2.7 Advanced 2.5 Standard 2.1.

I've yet to find a heavy that resist a Forge Round in the FACE.

My Cal.Heavy is really good as a Forge-gun platform. Sometimes is need to use the Amarr Heavy as a Forge platform, when RR are rampant the Amarr is better.

This. Yeah, we just learned the hard way that heavy spam is more important now.
But you can't have everyone on your team with mass drivers dude... we had some good RE users and they still couldn't do much.

No, just no. You shouldn't be expecting much at CQC with the Caldari heavy. That role is supposed to be a Forger that can instantly regain its shields. Period.

No because the rifles all got a small nerf. This is just like the tanks vs AV problem. You weaken the counter, but buff the suit/tank and it's too much.

Rifles aren't the counter, though. Not unless they are at range or on high ground, in which case the heavy is entirely defenseless anyway.
HMG is supposed to beat them head to head, and it's going just that because the suit can soak up a lot of damage and the HMG can rip people apart.
Walk about twenty feet back, or elevate yourself five feet up, and the entire situation changes. How is that already not balanced? I am willing to admit that most people are too stupid to actually play in an intelligent manner and counter the heavy suit accordingly, but should balance changes really be made based on general player stupidity instead of what is actually possible to do? |
