Ermac Vesely wrote:"Saisa, Mr. Fae" responds Ermac as he stops infront of him and copys the salute but with more vigor. "I heard that you want to go alone to the bridge. I thought that it would be a better idea if 2 of us could do that part of the mission just to make sure that nothing happens."
Ermac didn't know that man, nor did he have any idea how he is going to react to his offer to help him, but to be quiet frank is that not important for him. What is important is that he knew that he would end as the 5th wheel on the wagon when it came to the artifact, and sending one comrade alone without someone to cover his back is never a good idea. That and he was a little curious about that man, and why he was so fixated on the Templar. The info of what happend to the ship, is just a nice extra for the job
Ermac stretches his armored hand out towards Galm and asks:" I hope that this partnership will end in great success comrade wouldn't you agree?"
And let's hope that we can get each other out of the ship before they decide to just leave us there. "With respect kirjuun, it was never my intent to enter that ship alone. I knew that sooner or later someone would step up to the plate volunteer to help enter that ship. At any rate, I am glad to have you with me Ermac."
Galm clasps Ermac's hand and shakes it vigorously, happy to make the man's acquaintance.
Quote:"You guys trying to fail this mission?"
Galm didn't even bother saying anything at first. Instead, he simply turned to face Roy and leaned backwards against the railing. While it creaked for a moment the steel eventually settled, holding his massive weight. He turned his head towards Ermac for a moment before Roy began speaking again. By the time he had finally finished his statement Fae was already leaning forward to approach Roy and shout him into oblivion with certain words that one could only learn in the Legion.
Before he even had the chance to however, Denak had already began giving his response. With each sentence, Galm stomped his feet in approval. Even when he openly called out Fae, he couldn't help but smile behind his helmet out of respect for the man's candor.
Quote:"I would leave, but I'd prefer to see the train wreck in effect just so that if we do die, in the afterlife, I can tell you I told you so."
"Bull****," Galm spat to Ermac, who seemed to shake his head in either approval or acknowledgement.
Quote:"I don't think we're very different, Mr. Kalamari. It's just that you're full of **** and you don't even know it. I mean. At least I know I'm an a-hole but you...You. For someone who's supposedly well-experienced, you lack the knowledge that usually separates the greenhorns from the vets."
"Communication is key. Simply being able to say, yes, no, confirmed in a battle doesn't make a team work. It's the thorough communication that goes on. Professionals understand this. You don't. Already, there's a good amount of hostility on the team. But sure that doesn't affect the mission as long as everyone's a professional, right? Or what about not knowing the weaknesses and strengths of your squadmate? Or what about understanding how they each fight? Or how they feel? What the f-ck have you learned in your life as an immortal? It's as simple as getting on the field and shooting? In fact, I've been criticized in leadership positions strictly for not being able to communicate with my team properly on several occasions. I was too distant. Does that sound familiar, hot shot?"
Roy rubbed the bridge of his nose and giggled again.
"But someone would think that you know everything from the manner in which you speak. Only deepens the question to why we're here. But you don't care, do you?" Every word Roy spoke was painful to listen to. When he chuckled like an idiot and grabbed the bridge of his nose Galm reached for his rail rifle and shouldered it.
"Hey kakku!" he barked, sighting up Roy.
A few seconds of silence passed before Galm pulled the trigger. There was a single click and nothing else. Slowly, Galm lowered his weapon and let it hang from his chest rig.
"Pew-pew... Now watch who you talk down to frog, especially when you're speaking to someone like Denak. He's six times the soldier you could hope to be so either shut up and learn something from him, or just keep on trying to **** him and the rest of us off. That's completely up to you. Personally? I have full faith and confidence in most of the men and women in this room."
Galm pivoted over to Kador. Reaching behind his helmet, he undid the latch to his visor and removed it. While the lower portion that included his respirator covered his mouth, the pale eyes of his combat clone could now meet the templar's. The androgynous, streamlined features of his new body seemed more reminiscent of a Jove than his former form.
"Believe it or not soldier, that includes you. I test you because I know you can handle it. I don't doubt that each and every one of us come from our own backgrounds and we ought not pretend that we can understand the extent of eachother's experience... But if nothing else than I have faith in myself for gods' sake, and I believe that I can make it back from this mission alive. So if nothing else... Be happy you have me I guess."
Galm's eyes seemed suggestive of a joking smile as he locked his visor back into position.
"On the Leviathan's back will our civilization be carried home and the taint of the Enemy purged from our souls."

Galm's eyes seemed suggestive of a joking smile as he locked his visor back into position.
The Templar nodded respectfully.
The man was a fool more oft that not, but he could not deny that the many had a warriors discerning eye. Comparatively, Kador never would have appeared to stack up against the clones around him. He lacked what he supposed many immortals possessed, a by product of many hours of intensive psycho therapy and weeks of theological discourse with the priests on Iesa II where he had trained.
This was of course, ego. Perhaps that was poorly describing it, he considered briefly. I was not a lack of ego, but a suppression of certain aspects of it.
As such he often acknowledged that to others he did not appear, or was not perceived, as threatening, perhaps why some derided him.
It mattered not to the Templar however. As long as his righteous purpose was fulfilled the opinions of Apostates and Heathens alike meant little to him.
" Aye" he replied with a surety brought on by Galm's own words. " It is our duty to ensure the recovery of this relic. I shall see it done. I have no doubt others here will see it done as well."
He nodded respectfully again to Jaques, Ermac, and finally to Denak with slightly more affection. He liked the Intaki well enough and wished he had been able to treat him to a congradulatory glass of Athran Spiced wine after the Bloodhunt.....but the fatigue had caught up with him.
Just like it had now.
With that he turned back to address Satja, but the woman was off doing her own thing, inspecting a drone as it skittered about too and fro. He chose to leave her be. He supposed it was time that he deal with Immortal "comrades" as they were.
He supposed he would prefer the company of Denak, or any one of his former allies from the previous battles.
He had fought with Ermac shoulder to shoulder, waist deep in Raider scum at the tank laager during their initial deployment. The young man had talent, and a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Hawkeye as well, bother strong allies to have at his back. He could not ask for more.
Jacques had been a forces of nature. Where he was present men died screaming. A fitting death for the heretics in that facility, and Kador certainly looked forward to supporting the Caldari Loyalist on this deployment, as the man had so often supported his own Order.
And Denak. His only friend here. Perhaps only friend, besides of course the woman who served him..... the pair had been through quite a few predicaments together and the Templar trusted him implicitly.
The others however looked to his eyes to be "fresh".
Ventus, as the files had told him, came of brash and cocksure. A combination the Templar neither had time nor particular fondness for. Confidence was one thing, Arrogance another, and a weakness that had been the undoing of his own people for a long time though he loathed to admit it. Every soldier had a Crucible on which they were forged, a flame through which they passed that would define them......the Templar could only wonder what kind of flame Roy had passed through to turn out as he had.
Sergamon..... there was much to be said about the man in the Templar's opinion, none of it particularly flattering. The pair had disagreed on everything, from persona outlook to the educated Amarrian having to school the poor man in Gallente/Amarr History.....
Junko was a new face. Familiar in some ways, like Satja, but in others so vastly different. He wondered if it was simply bearing. Was she even a warrior? He could not tell.
Galm....well Galm was Galm. Possessed of a surety and swagger that rubbed the Templar the wrong way, the Amarrian could not deny an eerie feeling of disease when the man was present. He could not know why.....Galm just seemed odd to him. Looked stable enough....but.....he could not put his finger on it.
As for other mercenary.....well time would tell. Perhaps he might even come to like the man.
"Is there somewhere I might take prayer?" He asked. A general question meant for anyone to answer. " If not a chapel then perhaps somewhere calm or quiet."

Before Sergamon could pull him to the side, Roy spat, "You simple ass. Are you not understanding? It's about knowing each other? About actual communication. About enhancing our teamwork. When you know each other enough, you work better as a gatdamn squad. It's always been that way. But somehow you passed on the battlefield not knowing that. You wanna shoot me you piece of ****? Then do it. Just know that you're only supporting my point."
Roy damn near wanted to punch someone's head off. He was considering it after Galm pointed his rail rifle his way. He would've did it, left if prompted to leave by the contractee, and go back to his quarters. He's a man who doesn't care much for holding back, and the urge to be at his worst was heavy.
Finally Sergamon got him into a good distance and started talking about how Galm was Dragonaur. More reason to beat his ass. He heard about how the Dragonaur killed Gallente in an underwater city once. Roy never cares enough for the government affairs but the actual people is where his heart was with.
"That gives me more than enough reason to beat his ass right here and now. But I won't. And I won't back down to him. If we're to work as a team, they need to understand this concept. For some reason or another they've never had to actually connect with their team until they were on the battlefield and even then it would be by luck and timing that they connected. I'm supposed to say **** it, and wait to figure it out."
Roy loosened himself from the conversation and went back into the circle.
"My name is Roy Ventus. I could give a **** if you like me, but I'm sure you know this. My files probably told you about how people don't care for my personality, how I'm usually an assault who treats the battlefield like a scout would, and that I'm somewhat of a tactician, if you could call me that. What it didn't tell you is that I do what is needed to ensure success, I don't run from a fight, and if you're in need I'll do anything to get you back to top fighting potential. I run a thinly armored suit with a high repair rate so that I keep mobility. I prefer non-direct combat when possible. And despite my arrogance, I'm a lot less sure of what I can accomplish alone, than what most people think."
Roy grunted with a burst of air through his nose, content in his speech.
"If you wanna talk instead of act like a *****, catch me on the coms."
He then placed his helmet on and strolled back down the hallway with a heavy walk, not from the armor but from the weight of his feelings.
"There once was a time when there wasn't a Roy Ventus and it wasn't much of a time at all."

Ermac watched silently as Mr.Ventus went on with his speech and how Denak , Galm and Kador countered the mans arguments about how socialization and communication is "important" before the mission and how they will fail the operation if they don't follow his lead.
His younger self would have agreed with Roy back when he was a sec officer and the first democratic revolution was knocking with ginourmos hammers on the gates of the security offices on his home station. But back then was he just a mortal who just wanted to survive this madness and needed a leader to bring him hope. Now was he a little wiser and disagreed with Mr. Ventus, a group like this doesn't need a leader or someone who thinks that he is in charge.
A leader is dangerous he is the concentrated backbone of a group, if he is gone is the group confused and can be disposed of in less than a second. The best example happend during his mission in the Raider complex, where steady the leader of the group back then went mad and the entire mission was on the brink of failure because of that.
That and he thinks that this man would gladly sacrifice one of them if it means that he can get out there with the money and his life, the socialization part could just be a method of trying to find the right way to manipulate the others to think that he is always right in his decision.
Either that or he is just a hot head who thinks that he is high and mighty because of his own experience. Ermac couldn't decide which of the two options is worse for the missions flow. Still this does not change the fact that some of his comrades are observing Galm very closely which he didn't like.
He wasn't sure either what he should make with this strange fellow, sure he made a few pokes on his former team members honor, but he is honest and knows when to stop with the jokes and be serious. Ermac accepted that he was his comrade, and having bad blood between comrades for lowly reasons is never good.
This reminds him of something that he learned back in the boot camp when his Drill Seargent found him and another kadet fighting, he couldn't remember what the reason, was but he thinks it was something about a **** mag and someones mother being the cover girl. Point is Drill Seargent M+ñkela punched both stupid and she screamed so loud that almost his ear drums exploded, he thought back in the days.
Her words where:" IF BOTH OF YOU MAGGOTS WANT TO KILL EACH OTHER IS THAT NOT MY PROBLEM AS LONG AS YOU DON'T SERVE FOR THE STATE BUT I SWEAR IF BOTH OF YOU S&"% EATING MUTANT RATS THINK THAT YOU CAN DO THIS DURING YOUR SERVICE TIME AM I GOING TO RIP OF YOURE F&/-ºING ARMS AND LEGS AND THROW YOU PERSONALLY INTO A POOL OF MERIT+äTHI AND THAT WOULD BE A NICE END FOR BOTH OF YOU HORRIBLE EXCUSES OF STATE SOLDIERS! YOU ARE COMRADES YOU GET THAT! COMRADES NOT ONLY FIGHT TOGETHER, THEY EAT TOGETHER, THEY DRINK TOGETHER, THEY SLEEP TOGETHER AND THEY DIE TOGETHER! COMRADES DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF THEY DON'T LIKE EATCH OTHER, COMRADES DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF YOU ARE POOR OR RICH, COMRADES DON'T GIVE A DAMN IF YOU KILLED SOMEONE. THE ONLY THING THAT A COMRADE GIVES A F$%& ABOUT IS TO SURVIVE A FIGHT WITH HIS COMRADES TO FIGHT TOMMORROW AGAIN WITH HIS COMRADES! FORGET YOUR PRIDE, SOCIAL STATUS, BLOOD LINE, RELIGION AND OTHER S$"-º BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL COMRADES WHEN YOU WORK TOGETHER AND NOTHING ELSE!"
To further prove her point did she handcuff both of them together and made them clean the toilets with toothbrushes until they sparkled. Both of them became good friends and a very good team during squad coordination trainings after that incident. From this day on is every person he works with a comrade no matter what the person did or what the person sayed, for they are all just comrades who just want to survive.
Roy and Galm are no exception, and Ermac hoped that they also see it in that kind of way.
He turns to Galm after Roy went out and says:" Well that is a thing" he shrugs to prove his point that he doesn't care for the mans outburst and continues :" Well whatever, im happy that there is no problem with us doing some jolly cooperation comrade and I hope the others will calm down so that we can finally start this mission with a clear head."

"hmm.. ok, serpentis like to do their ops in this reigon after all. Cap, what can you tell me about the drone in this reigon" Junko pointed out in a holographic map of new eden of the wormhole that the pilot was supposed to drop them off in. the map again zoomed in until that half-scanned yan jung battleship came into view, like the maps the drones sent her on her wristcomp.
an Intelligence officer replied, "i can answer that, the drones in this section of Wormhole space are much more tougher in terms of armor strength and durability. there are weaknesses , as this armor is somehow electromagnetically based, much like reactive armor plating module on your suits." the officer replied with confidence.
"can an EMP disable the armor?" Junko asked to the officer, a female gallentean with brown hair wrapped in a bun.
the officer shook her head: "its not that simple, all drones are sentient, but the armor plating is linked with a main processing computer. It's believed that the Yan jung battleship automatically distributes and re-distributes power to the nessecary drones when times of emergency. the Noctis salvage team figured this out, and was able to install the yan jung's drones around its perimeter for secuirty."
'wow, imagine if we can get drones to do the heavy lifting for us' Junko thought, she wrote down more notes onto her wristcomp.
"now, the Yan jung are masters of gravity-based technology, correct?" Junko asked another question to the officer, but she shook her head.
"that much we do know, but it'll be hard to tell, maybe one the of engin.."
"ohh yes, the Y,J's capable of that and soo much more, lass" a gruff voice came from behind Junko. she turned and was suprised to see a man who towered over the rest, matching up to Junko's combat clone in height. He passed her and gave a Datapad to once of the officers in the main hangar analyzing the the information they had and more.
once he was done the man turned to Face Junko, who had a look of genuine suprise. " Kijii da name, 'ead Engineer for the op" the man proudly said, who laid out his hand.
"Junko, pleasure to meet you" she replied back, taking the man's hand with her's and shaking lightly.after a brief second the man motioned for junko to follow him, at the same time he grabbed another datapad from a nearby table and scanned through its contents.
"for an immortal, you seem pretty friendly J" Kijii said, glancing at junko.
"yeah, its kind of a weird thing among us Immortals "Junko lightly chuckled. Kijii gave out a hearty laugh, giving a good slap to junko's shoulder.
"i know how they act. its all fun n' games untill there be a mortal who can take one on inna fight... and lived to tell me tale, lass. used to be the engineer overseeing the clone transfer. many complaints from that front, i'd reckon" Kijii smiled fondly at the memories.
"so your corp outsources contracts to many mercs then huh?" Junko asked. Kijii nodded, scruffing his beard slightly.
"yeah, first to just mortal mercs, i think we started handing out contracts to immortals... hmm a few months afta Cal-prime, i'd say. but of all the ones we 'ad, we neva had one this important." Kijii finshed, looking to his left and tapping a nearby engineer.
"Systems al' ready lad?"
"Yeah, just about. control is going to launch an announcement in a few minutes."
"good, good"
As the two turned a corner, right into hangar T-13, the hangar was buzzing with activity. Engineer's and tech specialists roamed about, making the last finishing touches as Cargo-class MTAC's hauled and dropped off supplies from other operations. other ships of varying styles, designs and sizes slowly flew overhead the hangar, exiting what looks to be the station bay section.
"well this is where we part ways for now, take dis Junko. its the most recent information on da Y,J. it'll help out with de mission, and if possible; save the crew of the noctis. i know you types will only care about the mission, but at least try. it'll mean alot for the lads workin here" kijii said, handing Junko the datapad.
"Thanks kijii, i'll be sure to stop by and enjoy a beer from time to time" Junko said, giving a light smile and a nod. "ahh, the lasses in this area would love you for that, J" Kijii gave out another hearty laugh, then he nodded and walked away, leaving Junko at the Hangar.
'i think the other's are done with their grudge right about now, might be best to stop by and check... no they might already be done with it' Junko thought. She took a seat at a nearby bench and began reading through the Datapad, her wrist-comp in the process of copying and redistributing the new info.

The Templar shrugs, walks away.
It was not his place to debate the finer points of duty and faith in the self.
Instead he wanders, leaving the mercenaries to debate by themselves. Soldiers were always like this in his experience, giving the newer members of established teams a hard go of it, either as a rite of passage, or simply a perpetuation of the cycle they themselves experienced.
It mattered not though. In time their pride, their faith, and their sense of duty would be on the line.....and they would either stand of break. Such was the nature of things.
He found a secluded corner of the briefing room and took a knee. It was no chapel, and he supposed he would have looked rather foolish to anyone watching. But to him the armoured shell of the Commando suit was a chapel.
Free of the oppressive pall of frayed tensions he could find his piece of mind.
It was a pleasant feeling. A sense of surety and stability, oddly cathartic.
They would succeed. He had been chosen to fulfill God's will beneath the heavens. There would be nothing to stop him, them, the mission at hand, and in the face of providence he would brook no failure.

Inside Noah sat in one of the pews, leaning forward, elbows on his knees. His head was bowed and his eyes closed. His helmet rested at his feet. Unlike the others that usually visited he was not there to pray to a god. He was there to get away from all of the noise, needing a moment to work through his thoughts and clear his mind. With the others currently arguing their own ideologies regarding the mission he needed an escape.
Noah had always found comfort in religious houses, he found it strange considering he had never really practiced or adhered to a particular religion. Perhaps it was the absolute faith in their beliefs that he found comforting. Or perhaps it was the idea that they were a sanctuary, a place of safety and peace. Given his chosen profession and life style finding a moment of piece was a rarity.

Hawkeye got up from his bench and strode towards Sergamon, placing his hand on his shoulder. He let out a sigh.
"You really shouldn't have done that lad. I could easily break your pathetic spine this very moment, but that would be a waste of valuable biomass, something we don't have a lot of on board. Plus, I don't want to make the crew have to clean you up."
He took a deep breath.
"Look around you, people are still performing maintenance checks on their gear, they still teach you to do that at the academy, right? Kador and possibly Jester are also currently engaged in prayer, and our logistics officer is off meeting our command crew."
He paused.
"With your overly fast paced attitude, we would be going in there half ready unsure if our stuff will work. Besides, it's not my call that we are still waiting, that's up to our employers. Take it up with them."
A drone hovers by, fidgeting with it's appendages.
"Drones may be disabled in countless ways, but people can be killed in an even greater variety of ways. The drones, at least, are disposable enough that we can send waves of them in to scout the place. By comparison, we only have one scout unit of our own."
Hawkeye gestures to the drone to approach.
"See that there? That little guy floating about next to us? Ask it for the map. It's incomplete, but it's what we have. Once we're on-site, we can talk about making a complete map, till then, get of your bloody high horse!"

Just unbelievable what stupidity was going with some of the mercs, with very hostile words being exchanged with someone. The whole debate with Roy was going out of control and there was Sergamon trying to intervene and act like a leader when he clearly wasn't. After the comment he heard about Galm's heritage, Denak simply tweaked his Cortex to mute all outside noises, trying to focus on doing something to get his mind out of the heated moment, and it did succeed initially. That is until he noticed that Sergamon was throwing movables at Hawkeye, which was the moment when he just snapped.
Whatever Hawkeye replied afterwards went to deaf ears as without second thought, Denak detached the large and heavy tritanium shield from his shotgun and made his way over to the arguing pair. Without a word, he stepped in between Hawkeye and Sergamon with the shield in his hands, smacking it right against Sergamon's helmet with a large amount of force. After a single, loud clang and grunt, the shield was now dented greatly and twisted out of shape to an unusable state. The impact did little actual damage, but it did hurt. After a few deep inhales and exhales, he shouted to Sergamon:
"WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH YOU?! You come here waving your guns around, pretending to be the leader of this group when you're barely sane! I'm surprised anyone saw any potential in you when half the things that comes out of your mouth is nonsensical dribble and the other half is ignorant insults! Who are you to call us nagging when you're acting like that and f*cking throwing things at your own teammates?! If anything, you're the reason this whole mission will go to sh*t is because you can't tell the difference between blue and red!"
After speaking all that in a single breath, Denak paused for a while to breath deeply. His three slitted scout helmet still looked the same from the outside, but on the inside he was boiling with anger and frustration, his fists clenching tight. Next he spoke a little more calmly, but with a still-hostile tone.
"If you disagree with Hawkeye, fine, explain why. But throwing movables at him and calling him names just makes you look like an idiot, not to mention your feeble attempts of trying to lead this group when we already have one."
He paused once more, gazing straight through the eyes of Sergamon's helmet, giving hkm one final warning:
"Get your f*cking sh*t together and never do that again, or I'll throw your out the airlock and rip off your clone's head off myself", afterwards throwing the shotgun shield at the nearby wall to vent his anger, exiting the room in search of a more reclusive place to clear his head, all the while muttering curses. The whole complex probably heard his rant but he couldn't csre less right now, all he wanted was to get out of the situation.
Luckily, he found Noah and Kador within a room of worship from what he saw. He stood there leaning against the doorway for a moment or two, before he spoke:
"Would you mind if I joined you two?"

Junko was by the door when she heard Hawk-eye arguing with sergamon. she couldn' help but smile and clap her hands.
"that's something i would've said myself." she strode along and patted Hawk eye and Sergamon on the shoulders. with a light push, she gently pushed the two mercs away from each other.
"...and given our situation, there's really not alot we can do, except prepare for the worst Sergamon" Junko said. letting out a small sigh, she reached for a utility pouch and pulled out the Datapad Kijii gave her, and showed it to both mercs.
"this Datapad contains ALL of the necessary information we need in order to at least have a fighting chance at retrieving the artifact and help the crew of the Noctis, but i'll need time to organize it into information that can give us a game plan,a strategy and most imporantly, a way out of that hellhole. i'll send out the intel to all our teammates once we are en route to the Yan jung relic."
"Whats more important; had i not decided to talk with the command crew and all the intelligence officers and engineering specialists, we would've geared up, headed straight to the yan jung relic, and would be slaughtered within a fraction of a second, with no guarantees that we can transfer back to our bodies."
Then, her tone got serious as she stared at sergamon, with a subtle annoyed expression on her face.
"so you want to do this mission now? ok then, i just got word that the engineer's need someone for an outside maintenence op, straight out the air lock, you want in?"
Junko waited a few seconds before answering for sergamon
"thats a good boy, now pipe down, i need to tell the others about this information, i'll see ya around hawk-eye" Junko said, with a slight smile. she slid the datapad back at the utility pouch, grabbed her helmet and left, searching for the rest of the team. a technician was busy walking with a stuff full of goods and Junko decided to flag him down.
"oi! techie! have you seen an angry scout, a religous templar and what looks to be our team leader somewhere?" |

Roy idled in the hallway for a bit, pacing back and forth after getting out of view from the others. He was clinging to the anger that resided in him. It wasn't the first time he had to hold himself back to avoid losing his composure over someone and was experienced enough to know that he had to walk off before it got even uglier.
From Denak to Galm to Jacques. All of their words bit deep into his psyche.
Hard to imagine I was of a decent mind back when I first started out as a mercenary those years ago. Now look at me. Ready to stain my record for the mouth of some jack-off. Pitiful Mister Ventus. What would Jasmine think if she realized how much of a loud mouth you've become?
"Jasmine."
He finally read Junko's message from the neocom and settled his spirit.Seems like there's always a woman out there putting me back where I need to be. Jasmine. Max. Junko. It's probably time for me to get back with them. I can at least try not to get pissy. That's probably what they want from me. To act an ass so they can say I'm not cut out to be a professional merc. For them to discredit my years of struggling and digging through the dirt and mud...
Roy clenched his fist angry with thoughts for the past and present. The thought of all that he went through being discredited and dissociated with his being, with what made him, him, was quickly boiling his blood again. He shook his head and went to a calmer state again.
No. They can say what they want. I'll probably never see them again after this anyway.
At that moment, Roy felt calm enough to walk back in on his mess of a team. To his surprise he saw a few of them missing from the area. Galm was still there. That was enough of a presence to make Roy keep his guard up.
Now that I think about it. I did hear fussing. Kinda just tuned it out.
He saw Draco on the edge and tried to put the pieces together. He couldn't help but assumed that they got to him as well. I was relaxed like an overdosed drugee compared to that guy...He's probably ready to spazz out on someone if he could. I felt the same way...
"Aye, yoh Draco. One of these technicians wanted to talk to you right quick. Hurry up and come with me."
If Draco would follow, Roy would drag him to the side after getting far enough down the hallway. "Don't let them get to you. The best thing to do is to show them off when we get on the field. Leave them with bitter taste of ignorance in their mouth, man. Make them remember you not for something to laugh at, as they will surely try to laugh at us, but as something they want to try to forget. More than likely we won't ever see them ever again and if we do, hope that it's a part of our contract to deadshot them."

For all it's worth, some of them might actually be better people once we get into our natural element out there on the battlefield. Not that I expect that but what I do expect is for my contracts to come in a lot less frequently."
Roy let go of Sergamon's shoulders and proceeded to take his helmet back off to present his rather sharply made, black face to the immortal merc. His black eyes would stare into Sergamon's own, intensely.
"If you really need a release. Punch me right in the face. I mean, this is my money-maker but for you, you can punch me in the face as hard as you want."
He stood there with his arms opened, gesturing Sergamon to follow through with a nod.
Despite the fact that he could be pretty self-absorbed, Roy in general was a nice person. He was born that way, and it was futile to shake it away as that is what made him, him. His feelings.
As he stood there waiting, he couldn't help but have flashbacks to his days as a child. He was bullied all the way to his last days of public education. He was used to enduring pain. He thought it made him stronger than his attackers. He wasn't afraid to take a punch of two if there was a need for it.

Roy gritted his teeth, bracing for impact. He was honestly surprised it didn't go through and such thoughts could be seen on his face. He then smiled at the comment.
"Quite the opposite really. I think you're just another guy. Everybody needs some sort of release. I know I usually do and nothing quite helps you release your frustration than punching somebody. So I figured, hey give it a shot. What could go wrong? This isn't my real face anyway."
Roy reached out to shake the man's hand again. Earlier, Sergamon avoided it. Rather cautious of the man. Now this was a test for him to see how much has changed in their relationship. It wasn't that Sergamon had to like him but a positive relationship with a teammate always helped the battle.

The matari woman watched with increasing curiousity as the drones bobbed a wove around one another in, what she would have called, a strange and eerily precise dance.
The little machine was so complex. And almost possessed a life of its own, even if lacking true sentience, but such philosophical throughts did not occur to her, instead she was possessed of a childlike curiosity. Having never completed a formal education she knew she was neither as clever as even trueborn Amarrian children, but it did not phase her. One day she would be free to attend a school.
She noted for the first time that she was still carrying the Templar's outer clothes, hung neatly over her fore arm. Leaving the drone to its devices for a momment she began packing away the clothes into the duffel bag she carried, folding them with sharp lines as she had been taught, placing with reverence the Crimson sash on top of the pile.
She was a little sacred.
There were so many Immortal's here....and she was alone.....and they were angry. Angry enough that Denak, a man she had met before briefly during her night out the Second Hex, throw away his normally calm demeanor and become a terrifying vision of Immortal wrath.
But he looked kind..... in fact they all did. Even the man in the sunglasses, despite his lack of modesty. Perhaps Junko too....Satja thought it a fine notion indeed to speak with one of her former people, if not a perfect opportunity to speak in her native tongue.
She glanced up, looking for that drone. It was hovering around and armaments lock some ten meters to her left. Brushing the wrinkles from her clothes, a habit she had picked up when she was nervous, she rose, slinging back over her back, and made to follow the drone.
As she approached the drone darted off, following a zig zagging path out into a hallway. She followed, rounding the corner into the two hulking forms of Sergamon and Ventus.
They were speaking, perhaps jokingly she discerned form their tone. Beyond that she couldn't decipher what the pair were talking about. They spoke in a foreign tongue, perhaps Gallentean, but she could not know. She could speak fluently the dialect of her own people the Vherokior, and a passable if fractured rendition of Ammarad.
As such she had no way to discern even the slightest meaning of their conversation, to her it appeared as two comrades taking a quiet conversation.
She sucked in a breath, tried to fall back against the wall and press herself into one of the smaller recesses, but the duffel bag got in the way as she struggled to not be seen, dislodging the leather-bound Pax Amarria from her tunic, which crashed to the floor with a resounding thump.
God blast it, she thought desperately, made to dart for the portal back to the briefing room. |

"why did the techie led me back to the hangar for god sakes." Junko said, rubbing her gloved hand against her forehead, again following the lights back to the armory when she heard a small thump! Turning the corner, she saw what looked to be like the woman that was alongside Adamance during the briefing. but she looked frightened, scared.
with a interesting turn of events, she bumped into the wall and scurried off. rounding the corner, she nearly crashed into Junko as she darted away. "Oi! watch yourself!" Junko nonchalantly said without thinking. then she began thinking..
"huh... what was her name again... satj-sajt.... Satja?" Junko asked herself. she raked her brain, searching for something that would identify her.
Then she laid eyes on a small book, right where she saw Satja bumped herself in the wall.
"Hey! lady! you dropped your...." Junko stopped midsentece as she picked up the leatherbound book. at first she couldn't make out what the symbols meant, but then she said to herself silently;
"The Pax Amarria?" Junko asked herself. now her head stopped thinking about the information she wanted to give to Adamance, Denak and the others; her curiostiy peaked and she turned around to where satja bumped into her.
"that explains alot" Junko said to herself, she slid the pax amarria into one of her utility pouches and started walking.
'if i had to guess;.... the conference room' Junko thought as she made her way across the maze of corridors, poking her head in some rooms, passing by others. she wanted to ask the other techies if she saw a Matari woman running somewhere, but she decided against it.
After a few minutes, she stood at the doorway to the conference room. she wanted to go inside and look around but she had second guesses. 'this might be where she can feel safe, a port in the storm' she thought. finally she decided to go in. Junko though it would be best to converse with her this time in her native,Thukker tongue. it had similarities to the common Matari dialect, but it was what she knew, aside from the Sebiestor Dialect.
she waved her hand on the open monitor and the door slid open. she set aside her helmet, laying it on the ground and poked her head in.

The Templar entered the small chapel with a respectful care. It was a chapel made for his kind, but clad in the heavy armour of his Order he barely managed to fit through the carved wooden door. He was careful for the chapel itself was a wondrous place, plain, ordinary compared to the mighty cathedrals of his people, but this place had a certain air to it.
The air itself seemed still and cool, his suits internal sensors barely registered a change in temperature, but this was a feeling more than physical stimulus, perhaps something only the spiritually aware would, or could feel.
He acknowledge the presence of the Gallentean, bowed low, perhaps in supplication or prayer, and made a respectful bow.
It was no church to his God.
None of his Faith's holy symbols or effigies were present, but it was a place of worship, and that was enough.
In his own fashion he took a knee before one of the pews. The flimsy wood would not hold the weight of his frame, not in his combat clone, even were his disarmed, and began his ritualised prayer.
He completed his observances after a few minutes, ending with the Code of Demeanor, and lesson he would have to remind himself of during this mission.
The Wrath of God is Immense. His Justice is Swift and Decisive. His Tolerance is Limited. Be Careful. Pure Thought is the Instigator of Sin. Be Watchful. Free Thought is the Begetter of Disorder. Be Respectful. Uniform Thought is the Way of Life. The Mercy of our Emperor is Limitless. His Rule is Benign and Righteous. His Love is Perpetual.
Free thought is weakness, he considered to himself, only though Uniform though can I be strong.
He leaned back, still kneeling before the chapels altar. Perhaps this place was some Gallentean interpretation of the Faith. He had heard of such things. Perhaps if all such Temples in the Federation are like this they too will one day seek the path to righteousness. He could see a number of Amarrian symbols cut into a small cloister into the wall. Mayhap this was a general purpose chapel for all peoples.
He was interrupted as Denak entered the chapel, his steps were silent, but it was his internal discord that gave him away.
"Would you mind if I joined you two?" he asked quietly.
The Templar simply nodded.
" I trust our friend here minds not....." Came Kador's soft response.
"I myself am only a guest. I only hope I myself am not intruding sir. We are well met in this house of God" This time the response was directed at Noah.

Noah had been so lost in his own thoughts to realize that the Templar had entered. It was not until he heard Kador kneeling that he was pulled from his own mind. As the Templar prayed a small fire started in NoahGÇÖs gut. It was anger, not at Kador or the Amarrians, but at their total commitment to their faith. Perhaps anger was the wrong word, Noah envied them, a person capable of completely committing to a belief or ideal. It gave them a sense of purpose and meaning to their life. He had managed to find a purpose and meaning to his life, but sometimes it was the life he led that caused him problems.
Somehow a smile found its way to his lips. In thinking about his own life he came to the realization that he was both an immortal and an angel who had no faith in God. He came to the conclusion that he was more of a fallen angel, one who disagreed with GodGÇÖs will. It was a ludicrous thought, but one that helped to clear his head.
True Adamance wrote:"Would you mind if I joined you two?" he asked quietly.

The question was obviously for Denak. Noah did not know the man but it was quite apparent that something was upsetting him. His presence brought back thoughts of the mission they were about to undertake. Although he knew it was impossible he hoped that this mission was exactly as it seemed.

The armory was filled with many sounds as Ermac passed through it. Everything was in motion, the clickity clack of the armory drones that move through the staches to find the right type of ammo or equipment that the boarding vessel could need for the mission. The shouting of orders from the techs and workers who try to maintain the control over the entire work flow, and the hammering, sizzling, clanging of working tools being used by the humans and drones.
All these sounds and all this movement are drowning the thuds of his suits boots as he passes through. This made him rather nostalgic again, it reminded him of the work cycles that they had on his homestation. It would always start at 6 am on the stations primary clock till 6 pm, and it was always so damn loud, if you had a free day and tried to sleep longer was that not possible because of all these wonderful noises starting at the same time.
He hated it back in the days, and now does he miss all these sounds, nostalgica is sometimes very strange.
Ermac observes for a few more minutes the work place till he decides to move along. He slowly walks through the armory and sees that there are a bunch of offices at the other end of the armory built into the white wall with black glass doors that prevent one to see inside the small offices, and screwed in datapads which show whos room it is by showing the name , line of work and rank in the hirachy of said line.
He was already bored and decided to count all the offices just to pass the time, but as he starts to move along the line of doors does he notice something new on his HUD which he didn't notice during his first check. There was a extra menu which he could access with his NEOcomm.
Since when do we have that in the system?
Ermac activates the computer on his wrist and starts to look what these "extras" are.
magnetic boots.... booster rocket control.... shield modification? And is that a Geiger counter? They made the suits fit for space, how nice of them and I thought that they would just throw us into that mission without proper gear. But still I should ask what else they changed just to be sure.
He moves now a little faster between the glass doors and finds the office of one of the techs foremans with the name Maurice Laval. He knocks 3 times on it very gently so that nothing happens but he doesn't get a response. Dissapointed by this does he turn towards the way he came and sees that a technician standing before him.
It was the same one who took his arm but he doesn't look tired anymore, the best description for his mood would be annoyed. "What do you want now and what are you doing infront of my office, I told you that arm is save." His words have a hostile undertone which should make Ermac clear that he is not interested in more shenanigans.
"I am sorry if I am going on your nerves Mr. Laval but I noticed that our suits have been modified and I just wanted to ask if you can give me more details on the extras?" While Ermac speaks is Laval concentrating on grabbing a pack of cigarettes that he got in the pocket of his jumpsuit and get's one of the smokes out and lights it up as he finishes his sentence.
He inhales deeply and exhales the smoke out of his nostrils and let's out a sigh. "Hmm Oh man I needed that. You want one too?" Asks Laval as he presents him the box. "Sure why not." Answers Ermac, he was no stranger to it but he never got addicted to it. He takes off his helmet and takes one smoke out and holds it against Lavals Lighter and puts it in his mouth and starts to enjoy a short and silent smoke break with the tech.
As both of them reach half a burned cigarette is it Ermac who breaks the silence:" So about those extras I was talking about?" Laval takes the smoke out of his mouth and rubs his chin:" Let me think... Oh yeah!" He snaps his fingers as the memorys return into his head:" Now I remember, you know why WS is so damn dangerous and why we can't let you out in those dropsuits?" He asks him while he takes another breath full of smoke. "Of course not only is it space which our suits can't quite handle because they are made for planetary missions not for space itself. But WS can have high amounts of Radiation which could cook a man without a properly isolated suit in a minute or less." Ermac takes another breath of smoke as he ends his answer.
"Interesting" Says Laval as he exhales another cloud of smoke :" Where you born on a space ship maybe?". Ermac exhales an even bigger cloud as Laval and shakes his head:" No but pretty close it was a station in orbit of a planet." "Ahhh that explains it." He closes his eyes and takes the last cloud of smoke in before the cigarette burns down and he throws it down and stomps it out. He exhales one more time before he answers:" Yeah that is right you could be bombarded with Radiation the moment you go out and your suits needed to be overhauled so that they work in space. We made them vacuum tight and gave them an oxygen tank which can be refilled in the ship when air is available, it's enough to get everything done that you need to do outside. Next did we instal magnetic boots to the suits so that you don't fly away from the ship easily, don't worry it runs with it's own battery they don't live from the suits energy system. The boosters are for movement in zero-G and emergency situations like if one of you guys somehow manages to fly off into space can you still move back to the ship, but the fuel is rather limited."
Ermac listens closely as he finsihes his smoke " The shields have been modified to take on the radiation and you guys got a special armor plating which should help too. with the G. c. would be everything " Ermac stretches his arm out and says:" Thank you Laval". The tech shakes it and goes silently in his office.
And with that was Ermac bored again. |

Denak responded with a small and firm nod, keeping his helmet secured on his suit, masking any expression he made beneath the visor. With quiet steps he moved past Kador and Noah, doing a small spin to examine the room of worship and solace he found himself in. His movements were swift and slightly rigid as he sat down on the floor across from the pair with his legs crossed, his hands placed on his knees. The past 20 minutes or so dealing with the two Gallente had been extremely frustrating and draining, thus finding himself in that particular room. His distress was apparent to others it seemed, when Noah asked about his well being.
"I just doubt the mental condition of some of the mercenaries here being able enough to survive through the mission without friendly fire incidents." He spoke with a snarky and slightly bitter tone, flicking through all the menus on his Cortex to disable the HUD, enabling only the voices of other mercs to go through his speakers.
"I will manage", he added as his head dipped down slightly, taking a deep breath in and attempting to shut down his distracting thoughts. He did notice Sergamon enter the room and request an audience from Kador, but Denak did nothing to greet, or even acknowledge the presence of the Gallentean, simply remaining quiet and still.
