Either just roll with the punches, I usually run std gear and try to pick out the protos on the other team to ambush kill and terminate, because f you and your proto spam in pubs.
Or you can just look for where the engagement is and do one of two things:
1. If you are winning the clone count (IE your front is pushing) Then join the front soldier!
2. If you are losing the clone count (IE your front is getting pushed) Then sneak around the edge of the map and attack stragglers/cap behind them, because 10/10 times when a team is pushing your team, well they are pushing... so their resistance is weak to nothing from behind. Whatever you do, do not try to simply attack the opposing front from right behind them. It doesn't take long for 8 guys to 180 and shoot at you. |

I have been trying to find a squad that actually plays as a squad. Most pub stompings occur because the other team is in fact running a tighter nit squad than the other.
I don't want to corp jump just o find squad mates, so here are some solutions:
Direct Action Response is a corp that has a pub channel, DAR REC, they are centered to running squads and using military tactics. They are new, and not much action is in their pub channel yet, but in time I hope it grows. The few times that I ran with their CEOs I had a great experience.
ConantheCimmerian runs a great squad in the TSF pub chat channel.
And I own a chat channel TEAM LOKUN. The whole point of my channel is to improve squad formation and simply gather people who are great squad players. This channel is new still and I have not yet had the time to get everyone in the channel on the same page, but their are some great players in there.
I love running solo medic. Don't try to play TF2 and sit on one heavy all day long, your wasting potential rep sitting there in lazy mode. You rep everyone you can and revive anyone that is safe to revive. As for a weapon, I personally like to run the breach AR std as it has enough punch to drop people while not burning out of ammo quickly. |

How do you all cope with the terrible team mates? When you're the only one trying, or the only one that's even any good on your entire team?! I need help. I snipe when I go solo, but I also support the team with uplinks. I will not snipe. I find it very ******* boring, and a waste of my time. I do also sneak around and hack unguarded stuff
I counter snipe when no one else will hit the obnoxious red line snipers on the other team, I understand red line snipers when they are getting pushed into the red line but I hate with a passion the enemy red line snipers who are doing so while we are getting red lined. Other than that it's guerrilla tactics if we are losing and front pushing when we are winning. Where players go wrong is when they do the opposite and guerrilla when we are winning. Which just will stretch the game out or leave the objectives vulnerable to counter offensives or players will push the front when they are losing, which will just add more corpses to the meat grinder.
This one basic concept is what seems to separate the good and the bad, although superior gear is always a factor when all other things are equal which isn't often. Gun game generally gets trumped by superior numbers and tactical positioning anyways, since AA is a thing. |

I can't do much with a Logi suit and a Python (I lose one EVERY MATCH I BRING IT OUT ;_;), but I guess I could help out a lot with my Tank. :D Being flexible makes it funner, I usually play a lot of roles, most of them badly, depending on what I think needs to be done. This doesn't work out well for me though as this usually means I'm in a bad spot. I can't care too much about my kdr, but unlike the previous poster I can't stop trying for the win, even when it feels like I'm the only one trying. I'd love to find a regular squad and I have squadded with some people (including some on this forum) that I really liked running with but I haven't really found a group yet.
I'm exactly the same way and honestly, CCP demands that you spread your sp if you want to be useful in the longterm. Because no matter what, if you specialize into one thing alone you are going to get hit with the nerf hammer.
CCP Reps, "This game is all about specializing your role."
Me, "Specialize my ass..."
I always tell newberries two things:
1. Don't play this game, it isn't worth jumping in at this point in its life cycle.
2. If they still want to play, disregard everything CCP says about how to play this game. The talking heads have nothing to do with what the Chinese programmers actually made the game into. |

Drop the 49k sp it takes to buy an assault suit in your logi tree. They are 3k so who cares if they get grinded into paste by the protos, eventually you will learn to kill the protos and you will be doing so at an isk advantage. |

This plus cry babies and f-bombs every other word. Its a game, you CAN laugh and enjoy it. That said, I die a lot and try to have fun trying new things/tactics. I push to win, but if say some protostomping japaenese corps is dressd in red, I just try to ruin one of their pretty suits. One at a time.
I guess I'm not big on trading freedom for security ;)
If you haven't tried it yet, get the potato cannon aka PLC. That is a really fun weapon. Nothing makes you feel more like a badass then when you predict the trajectory and beam a scout from his flank while hes sprinting 50 meters away. |

Then why did you say you only have 1 infantry suit? Misinfo man misinfo. |

Pfft Proto is for PCs which you won't be doing alone. You never need proto in pubs, and the only times it may make a difference (When you are fighting double stacked proto squads) it's unlikely the rest of your disorganized team will make it just ending in you losing a lot of isk in proto gear. ADV is good enough for pubs. |

Right, I just meant you don't need a proto assault lol. ADV assault is fine and you can roll out the proto logi for pcs. Therefor as far as pubs are concerned you can run 2 infantry roles.
You also might want to run amarr basic sentinel/commando and amarr scout when 1.8 drops. You don't really need more than basic for pubs since they are specialized roles as is. If you are a scout getting shot at isn't ideal anyways and the heavies are tanky enough to handle a skirmish or two even at basic. You could just get the basic variants if you don't mind paying a little more or just field militias because again for the most part, their specialized role is generally enough for pubs. |

It shouldn't matter who it is on the other team, or who is on your team. Your tactics, strategy, and fighting style should be a large deciding factor in the battle. When i'm on the battlefield none of you make me stop being assault to go snipe, or do something safer out of fear of any of you. My job, role, and task on the battlefield stays the same regardless of what your wearing, firing, or doing. If you and your squad are solid you should move the shift of battle, win or loose. You can adjust your strategy to what is needed at the time, but deciding not to assist your squad or team in battle at all is cowardly. Want for others what you want for yourself. If you want help from the other team members, give that help. Your not helping me at charlie by deciding to abandon the assault to go snipe at delta?! Two rifles firing at a target are better than one. Bring a compact nanohive, a needle(preferably 50% or more), or a rep tool. Anything is better than nothing?! More ammo is always a good thing. Anyone who has had the oppurtunity to fight with me or against me knows i will never back down. Bring on your proto suit, tanks, fotm, etc. Threaten me with hunting me down, making me a target, and "stomping my scrub ***"?! It's a video game!!! Your going to die, but not in real life! Stop padding your k/dr. Don't try so hard to make it look like your good, and actually be good! Players respect your gangsta in battle not some number on a board, or atleast thats the way i see it. Guys can tell me all day that someone is a beast, but until i see it he just a target. What you did a week ago don't scare me today. Full q sincs on the other side of whoever doesn't make me back down. I'm gone get my 1,000 wp's! You can know what i run, but stopping me is a totally different fight altogether. Lag switches, proto stomping, tanks, dropships, attack dogs, jesus, thor, the persian army, i don't care they gone all know i was there! Stop being cowards and fight! 6 guys can't proto stomp a full fighting squad of 16 without loosing money. If you notice proto stompers like to single out targets, and don't wanna fight more than one at a time. They can be forced into uncomfortable situations by giving your teammate BACKUP! I see them all the time leave heated areas to go pick off loners at a CRU, outside points, or camping a drop uplink. They can take out a solo guys quickly while they're damaged modded out, but will leave bravo if they die more than twice against an organized 3 man fire team. Don't let them scare you with that black suit. KILL THEM AND THEY WILL RESPECT YOU!
I like your spunk, but it can be advantageous to mix it up a bit lol. Square pegs will never fit in the circular hole.

How do I cope with ****** teammates? I start focusing on hacking and placing uplinks. More often then not, the worse my team is, the more **** there is for me to hack and the more WP I can get from uplinks. Unfortunately, farming WP in public matches and not trying for the objective is frowned upon by certain people in the Dust community.
I blame Logibro since his name is Logibro, although I have absolutely no basis for this claim lol. But, it's frowned upon in pubbies because of CCP's structuring of isk pay outs. Equip spam gives way too much wp. If they dropped nanos to 5, uplinks to 10, revives to 25, reps to 10 and guardian to 15 then I'd say it would be fairly balanced. In that case, a logi doing about the same amount of leg work as a slayer would get the same amount of points, at least as far as infantry slaying. As it stands, a slayer can push hard and win the game getting the most kills by triple the amount or quadruple of their team but still end up in 4-6th place thanks to logi spam losing their well deserved isk pay out that then might throw them in the red.
I can spam equips to make money, but then I just feel ****** later when I realize I rewarded good teammates by being a wp *****, further encouraging poor playstyles and proto stomps. |
