It depends, like I've said before if you're not trying to be a Gal Scout. If you want to play that niche theres a mandatory 1 complex and one enhanced Dampener + cloak (std at adv suit and adv or Proto at Proto suit). This keeps you hidden, and since scanners degree are lowered it might be always needed but against elite squads it will be needed. I would then use a complex kin cat, the racial bonus means you don't need a card cat at both adv and Proto suits. I would therefore have damps x2 + kin on a speed/stealth build, a speed build with card and kin and one damp, then have a mixture of armor builds. I like complex reactives on an Amarr scout to keep speed while being a light infantry builds. I personally will always use 2 shield extenders on all scouts except If you're playing the eWar Cal Scout game. In that case, I would use one and 3 complex precision enhancers. As for which weapon you choose, shotguns are getting a nerf so a k5 scout is significantly weakened. I would use a CR + ScP but a sidearm may not be required if you choose to use a compact nano in slot 2 equipment. In particular on the adv suits, At Proto, I would be tempted to use RE cause 1.8 will be fatty galore and vehicle galore. At adv, i probsbly would only use a std flux, as adv and Proto are not required. If you prefer a dif weapon, sub machines guns work well magsec range will be a great addition to the scout. I don't like AR or RR on a scout but if you've skilled into it you may not have a choice early on. I think scout + cloak + RE might be best combo and just run around being an *******. Amarr can play this game well. The idea of the Amarr is one suit maybe possibilities so using the suit that best fits the map or your goal is where the suit excels.

I have level V in all of the scout skills: dampening, range, enhancement. On another note, I just actually switched to ScR from the CR and love it to death. I don't know if overheating is less of a problem on my minja due to my high shields, but I have not had any real problems with it. And because I am new to it, I still overheat it frequently so its not like I haven't had enough experience with overheat. The biggest problem I have with overheat is not being able to switch weapons. But again, with a charge shot and not spamming the R1, you should be ok. Going with the RR in 1.8 could be ok if you really like the weapon, but given how its not clear how much the nerf to it will affect its usage, you may want to not go whole hog with it right away. It's still going to be really good if not the best weapon in 1.8.
