why the hell would they do that? i didn't skill into shotgun proficiency 5 for some lame bonus to shields!
the devblog had to be a typo. maybe they were just blanketing all the weapons into their respective categories.

Yeah, it's pretty sad if they do change the bonus. I can't stand how quite CCP has been lately. Blue tags are rare.

You make it sound like it's worthless. I've been using nothing but my unskilled 'Dren' SG for months now and have had no problems killing protos or heavies. Sure, it may not be as good as it used to (idk I never skilled it up enough), but I'm sure they're still more than viable.

Good luck putting 5 shotgun shots into a heavy
The shotgun is not a alpha gun, it takes multiple shots to kill so a ROF nerf is HUGE |

You do realize that the Caldari Heavy is mainly a shield tanker, right?

There are only like 5-6 weapons in this game that really *require* aiming skills (or luck I guess) to actually work. Surprisingly enough, the shotgun is one of those.

So? Against anything else it's a joke. In fact a ROF bonus would still be better against caldari as 15% more shield damage will most likely still take the same amount of shots to kill |

When I fight against shotgunners, it's either a one-shot-death or very likely not-a-deathGäó for me at all. I'd take more likely killing with the first precise hit over a higher but still slim chance to connect a second or even third shot any day of the week.
Changing the bonus to both shields and armor until other SG variants are added would be good though.
You can take a benign object, -you can take a cheeseburger and deconstruct it to its source...

The change of proficiency in 1.8 change nothing against all the STB guys, all people shotgun can one shoot.
But against proto guys and heavy, to shoot more faster is veru usefull.

It's not that bad... In PC.
In pubs the shotgun is horrid, I'll admit. However in PC, it's quite good actually. Unfortunately it's just that CR and RR are better than it in 90% of confrontations.
1.8 will change that slightly. With the nerf to rifles, shotguns will more more useful and better than a rifle on cqc.

Ahh this is because the spread reduction on operation makes it harder to use the SG as it will only hit if your dead on target. The RoF bonus was nice but never made sense on the SG but the current prof bonus is indeed an outright nerf to the SG... |
