Yeah and surprisingly thanks to the operation skills it gest harder to use in CQC as it is way easier to out strafe the SG on OP5 compared to OP0. I don't know what was in CCP's mind as they designed the OP skill.
On OP0 the SG works like a SG on OP5 its more like a SG with slugs. Funny enough slugs are usually for mid range combat and just bad in CQC compared to stdAmmo. Too bad that the SG has an optimal of 4-6m..... |

oh well at least with the mass driver buff i can use my prof 5 MD again, points in damage mods are wasted but i can get complex shield and armour with the amount i wasted on suits. probably one complex kin cat one complex plate, one complex damage mod and 2 complex shield extenders.
the splash damage alone without proficiency will one shot starter fits unless I read it wrong, if so then it's still one shot direct hit for starter fits. |

Plus if you really love your shotgun so much, go for the Gallente Assault. You'll be one shotting motherfuckers from 15 meters away.

I actually don't think the SG prof change is much of a nerf. In comparison to the rifles/SMG, I would say the shotty is actually coming out better than before. Although, against heavies, it's a huge nerf. You'll never kill a well fit heavy of the same meta as your shotgun in less than 3 hits, damage increase or not, so a higher RoF is always better against a heavy.
Spread reduction is a good thing, it concentrates the damage from each shot, making it much more likely to do full damage to your target. Yes, it's a bit harder to hit, but the reward for doing so is worth it. The only issue with it is that the hipfire reticule stays the same size as you level the skill, if it were to shrink to better represent the spread, most of the problems would disappear.
The shotgun may see a bit of a nerf as far as pubs go, but it's PC viability will increase with the nerf to rifles. I'm looking forward to getting back into PC again. The whole PC locking debacle/protest/thing started just as I finally got my Gal Scout fully PC viable, and my internet decided to screw me over just as the hotfix went into effect (and finals, trimesters ftw ). |

There is NO benefit to having more spread other than being easier to hit, and it's only easier to hit for much lower amounts of damage. |

You'd think someone at CCP would have run these exact same tests, and they probably even have spreadsheets that just spit the results out. Even if they don't, it's kind of, you know, their JOB to figure these things out. |

shotgun funeral... you sure waited long enough to bury the damn thing. was it ever alive??? that steaming pile of dung has suffered from hit detection issues and poor balance for well over a year and a half now(probably longer I'm only a year and a half old). it's not viable now, it wasn't then, and it wont be in 1.8. I have no freaking clue why I keep skilling the shotgun it's a complete waste of SP every time yet I keep doing it.
perhaps I'm going insane... but that would imply that I'm not already...

Yet again, forum users / DUST players that couldn't care about balance at all and only what suits them best.... I'm getting sick of this to be honest.
As for the gun, The RoF bonus should go to the operation skill instead of the stupid spread reduction considering that: A. The shotgun has no range so spread reduction helps in no way at all. and B. Spread is more of a choice aspect of a shotgun. Why not have variants (like derr breachhh derrr) that have more range with a tighter spread.
As per usual, no balance, ill thought out changes.... just facepalm as usual

I see no need for shield damage since one shot wipes shields anyway, unless the damage increase means you use half or quarter of its power and the rest is regular distribution to armor which could essentialy cause more damage overal an be balanced by shooting slower and still take the same amount of shots yet leave a big gap in rof for your death to occur, but if overal ttk has changed you won't die trying to fire a second round.

At 15m the SG does close to zero damage, and using the SG on a gal assault is cloese to most stupid thing you can do with the SG.... |
