When I was first getting into this game it was mostly EVE pilots. Very few had the privelage of entering Mordu's Private Trials. Most were invited, some like me, competed to gain entry. One thing I was constantly warned about was Goon Swarm. Never played EVE Online and those PC nerds, whom called me a "console warrior", told me repeatedly not to mess with the goon swarm. I look around and see a very different future. If these pilots are so ever present in EVE, then why do you never see them on the ground? I've seen goonfeet in pubs. But they're terrible. How did this omnipotent corporation in EVE online become less than a blip on my dust radar? Let's discuss

There is no interest in Dust until it becomes an actual thing.
Also its very easy to press a button in EVE. Takes no skill whatsoever.
Dust you need some skill and its only limited to a few amount of players at a time (where as in eve, there is no limit).
Plus Goons are bad at everything.
Dust only matters to no one.
We are bad at everything skill wise, but excel at the metagame. |

Because Goonswarm and many players have realized that this game is still just a lobby shooter, the game is supposed to be an MMO-FPS. And they may never care if things don't change in the this month and the next couple months. And I think the corp the group they have in Dust is GoonFeet.
After Uprisings release the forums were a bad place, I'll never forget how CCP screwed up so badly.

There's no reason to take dust seriously at all. It's purely a ho-hum shooter billed as an MMO-FPS. 16v16 =/= MMO anything. |

The problem is that DUST is not all that it cracked up to be and it's still under development despite the fact that it's officially released with less than a fraction of the stuff that should be implemented already. In other words, goons will only be feared once the game is actually ready.

Just wait for the player market to show up and then for our gear being made by players rather than coming from an infinitely large npc supply. Goons have an awesome finance team. Once it becomes possible to manipulate the price of items and collect an economic rent off of trade, they're going to be the first ones to figure out how and do it. And if there's a flaw in the economic system, they'll be the first to find it, document it, prove that it works and then report it so that it gets fixed. Just not until they've profited from it. |

People seem to think goons are a gaming community with only a few members who bounce between games with the intention to ruin them when we are in fact not, we're people who hang out at SA and a few of us play some video games.

The Goons and BOB only got to be big after a couple of years into EVE. In DUST, there really isn't a way for them to be the cancerous tumors that they are so proud to be. All they could do is just be another corporation that sort of stomps. When the market opens up, things will be different.
Hell, I believe it was the Goons that bought all of a certain type of fuel needed for Player Owned Stations and then proceeded to hunt and kill EVERY miner that was getting and processing the fuel. They put their own fuel up for about 10 times the price. I can see them doing it. However, unless something huge happens, I doubt those types of players will both too much with DUST. It doesn't have the capability of a Burn Jita so I don't see them being so interested. |

It is easy to press buttons but it does take skill. If you are not skilled then you die just as fast as in DUST.

Goons are a force to be reckoned with, however the average Goon grunt is a poor pilot. I also expect they are equally poor at shooting when it comes to dust.
Like others have said, not many in EVE take dust seriously. (For the most part)
