Thanks to the heavy spam, I now seriously hate the spawn on point mechanic.
Finally kill a wave of heavies? Well because of all their HP, by the time you brought them all down the next wave has already spawned.
Every fight turns into a perpetual struggle to get that point, it only ends when we're out of ammo or the enemy is out of clones. That's with a full squad btw
CCP plz fix kthnxbye

this is why uplinks are the most powerful equipment in the game.
uplinks win games, no debating that fact, with them you win, without you lose.
so I usually laugh when people complain about RE's and scanners, and other things, simply because they don't hold a candle to uplinks. |

At least have it removed for Low-Sec battles, there is one point in the SRL facility in which it is incredibly difficult to get the hack on because whoever spawns on the point gets spawned right behind you while you're hacking the console, with their gun pointed at your back.

Oh and those people have 1500eHP and 900 DPS doom machines, so even if they weren't invisible or invincible, we still couldn't kill them fast enough before they kill the hackers.

I have to agree my feline friend; I find it aggravating that I can fight my a** off killing one or more good heavy, usually using lesser gear then my opponents, only to have them respawning before I can finish the hack and being easily wiped out reguardless if i have squad support.

So let's just ignore the fact that said heavy ALREADY FAILED to defend said point...
The spawn mechanic is broken, not the fact that heavies can do it but ANY suit can. Cat Merc is just expressing how much more aggravating it is when it is a heavy because of the large HP pool you have to fight through, assuming you survive the HMG to the back.

I've been saying for awhile that spawn on point shouldn't exist. You either capture a CRU nearby objectives or place uplinks nearby objectives. Basically like Domination, but in Skirmish. If you can't defend those secondary objectives then prepare to lose your primary objective.

The carebear spawn on point mechanic should not exist. It is like handholding, but for an entire team.
Normally, I'd expand further, but the last time that happened, people "attacked" me, told me to go play CoD, to stop being "entitled" and other such babble.

I concur entirely. It's a terrible mechanic. Domination does fine without it and it convinces even idiot blueberries to bring uplinks (sometimes). It would be a simple change to remove it from skirmish too. I usually solve this with my min logi speed-hacking the point, but that's getting taken away from me in 1.8, so I don't know what I'll do after that. |

And even if CCP wishes to keep this feature, which they shouldn't, they should at least reconsider where spawn-on-point actually spawns you. In some cases like the hack terminal on the high platform on the Gallente Research Facility it literally spawns you within reaching distance of the hack terminal and facing it. That is way too damn close.

What I hate is fluxing and uplink therefore destroying it, and then being able to count 1...2...3... and lo and behold someone will spawn on an uplink that is NO LONGER THERE. Same thing happens when hacking objectives - get the hack off - 1...2...3... someone spawns - me - OMFGWTFBBQ.
Now when I attempt to spawn on a link that has been destroyed...nope can't spawn there, uplink lost.
This game is seriously gonna cause me to have a stroke one day.
I could list the ways how we Amarr are better than you, but your lesser mind wouldn't comprehend it.

This game is seriously gonna cause me to have a stroke one day. It's actually because you are invisible for about 3 seconds after you spawn. So you through a flux grenade, someone spawns in, flux grenade goes off and destroys uplink, and three seconds later the guy who spawned before the uplink was destroyed becomes visible.
You can do this too. When you spawn in simply don't move (well you can spin in place, but that's it). No one will be able to see you.

This game is seriously gonna cause me to have a stroke one day. This happens sometimes due to a lag in the spawn. I have spawned in on an uplink 3..2..1..0..0..0..0..0..0GǪ0 okay now I am spawned I agree that this needs to be fixed
As well as what Cat Merc is describing. Personally I will often chose the uplink option over the Objective as a spawn point (most often my own because I know it's not in a ridiculous place) When taking a point you can go through a lot of resources just to take a point, only to have your enemies return fresh and full. I have a pretty high hack speed, but this only mitigates the problem if you can kill all the defenders in rapid succession.
My only concern with the full removal of the spawn on point mechanic would be turning every point into the hundred metre radius of a Dom match. Uplink spam would likely be the outcome of this change, though some may not view this as bad. I prefer to be able to clearly identify the uplink that I want to spawn on and maintain some semblance of reasonable frame rate.
What would people think of an increased spawn time on Objectives? Say 20 seconds, would that be reasonable, or would the potential uplink spam be considered a reasonable result of eliminating Objective spawns?

If this is what the cloak in 1.8 is going to be like maximum T_T is inbound. I highly doubt it as you're thinking. Actually a few days ago I was playing a match and I actually stumbled upon someone moving out of his spawn point but for a split second he was still cloaked, however not completely invisible. You could see his body outline along the visual distortion. Man I wish I could of recorded that, it was very weird. That's my guess for what it's going to be.

Spawn on objective is a game crippling mechanic.
What the hell are CRUs supposed to be for when you can simply teleport sans uplink? Why bother with uplinks when you own the point? It removes what little strategy there is in the game and reduces it to a simple question of your DPS vs. my DPS.
It's like CCP wants DUST to be as brain dead easy to play as possible. No strategy or tactics required. |
