Ok, this shocked me because i thought it was nearly impossible to kill Infantry with FGs, i jumped in a match recently & the opposing team had 1 FGer & he killed Infantry without breaking a sweat, at the time i thought to myself "he's either using aimbot or he's very skilled with FGs".
I can't kill infantry with a FG it's not my thing plus i find it noobish to shoot at infantry with it. |

I have trouble hitting infantry with the forge to. Only skilled players can consistently do good with it.
Of course i snipe dropships out of the air like there nothing, so, i dont know.
No idea on my guns right now. Getting majority to level 3 at least, then deciding.

its not as easy as it looks and they don't kill as many people as you might think. i do it with an assault forge gun just because i like the challenge but i'm mainly after vehicles or heavies but its not easy to swap suits when there are no vehicles so what do you expect a player trapped in a forge gun suit to do while he waits for the next vehicle.
forge sniping is very easy to avoid apart from the odd lucky shot. dont stand still even when in cover if you know one is about. the slightest movement could mean the difference between a 2000k damage hit or a few hundred.
besides its event week. there is likely to be a few more than usual due to the fact there is only 1 mlt heavy weapon and thats a forge. it will drop back to the odd player once its over
I will logi the s* out of you

Considering the forge gun and rail turrets fire the same projectile it shouldn't be any easier to hit infantry with a FG. My question is does the splash damage radius start around the giant blue ball or from the actual projectile like in a rail turret? After a long argument with someone a while ago a dev settled it saying that the FG is indeed a rail weapon so the end result should be the same.

I'm going to give away the super secret tip that separates the scrubs from the pros when it comes to FG sniping. Everyone who is good with FG knows this, and everyone who sucks with the FG does not.
Some FG users even jealously guard this secret, fearing they'll get nerfed should it be more widely known.
Are you ready?
Do you think you can handle it?
Do you think the world is ready to know?
The secret to sniping infantry with the FG, in one snappy maxim, is:
If your crosshairs are red, the fu**er's dead.

I have done this for a long time bro and really the only thing to do if their standing still is to move the marker until it hits red then blap their ded. assault FGs are a pain in the butt to use but use a kaalikotia and ull b golden Mil. FG are really annoying they need those out of the game even tho I too am a mil. FGer. if they r moving thp they r significantly harder to hit because you have to gethe delay right because there is actually a delay in between the time you release the button and when the FG actually shoots and then it isn't just instantly there either so you need to get that right too. I have been doing this since they first realeased the FG early closed beta I do believe. I currently have been counting my hits and misses with it and in the last month I have shot 2600 shots and only missed 238 of them. you can get to that point but I have been doing this for a very very long time so it will take a while to even be getting 1/2 ratio of hit/miss. I do encourage you to try it it is a hell of a lot of fun to just randomly see a sqd mate fly across the map because an enemy FGer decided to neil em don't worry ill blap him right back but ya.
P.S the Gastun's BRN-50 is god mode(offi FG) the brn-50 has a second faster charge time 50% larger clip and does the same damage as a kaalikotia FG...I double one heavy one sidearm damage mod my proto heavy frame with a m209 and a gastuns brn-50 and I have only lost 2 of those suits since uprising, and I do use it fairly often.

Snipers are easiest, because they are always crouching somewhere, and they are pretty easy to blap, especially since they never seem to think you can see them. If you are moving, it's much harder to get ya, and if you are in my face, it's better to switch to my M209 smg, which does pretty good damage up close.
But forge sniping takes quite a bit of practice, it's by no means easy.

I hope it was me OP, recently had a match where I was wrecking it, it was my first time forge sniping since the recent charge nerf.
That change in timing really threw me, I'm having to re-learn CQC forging all over again, ended up getting me killed as my timing was off..
But forge sniping is fairly easy to avoid, just do the same as when avoiding a sniper, in CQC learn to not just see the heavy suit but what weapon he is actually carrying. A good portion of my kills came from people assuming I had a HMG and they were out of my range or were another heavy planting their feet for a stand off. |

If you stand still against a forger, you might as well just make it a race to see if you can hit "suicide" before you get killed... On the other hand, if you're a moving target you have a much better chance of not dieing... Simply put, it's easier to kill a forger than to die to one, unless you're using a forge yourself (which makes it pretty even... Obviously.)
I can mow people down with a forge gun, but it's easier with most other weapons (hello rail rifle.) The only reason I'm doing it now is because of the event, I specced into lvl 1 heavy machine gun, but when a real HMG shows up, 9/10 times they will win.
Basically what I'm saying is... the nerf on blast radius was justified, but lets not go laser rifling the forge, it's needed for vehicle kills... Also unlike most other weapons it's easy to tell where they're shooting from. |

If you fit swarms on an assault suit you at least have some semblance of mobility. Without the ability to blast infantry with a FG you are essentially an unarmed heavy which is pretty much as close to dead as you be while still being upright. It's a skill like anything else. It's easy once you get the hang of it but it has never been an I Win button so no cause for alarm.
Running a blaster tank in ambush is like bringing Anthrax to a pillow fight.

There's a ~210K difference in price between proto FG's and rail turrets. The proto rail gets 1885 damage with splash damage of 234 within 2.0M. The IAFG gets 1500 damage 277 splash within 2.1M. With the still cheaper Kaalakiota just dropping a bit of damage. If you ask me that 200isk difference should mean that the FG only gets a .75M splash. You all want to talk like FG sniping is hard when you get this huge reticule and a instant hit projectile. Maybe I am just tired of it taking a thousand times more skill and luck to even land a PLC shot near a FG user just to have him kill me with the easy mode FG.

Large rail has a faster firing time, 2nd shots and so on are at a faster rate, and it has zoom and longer range (I think forge is capped at 400m, 600 for Rail I think). Also turrets are always the most expensive part of a tank. On my tanks the difference between a "cheap" 240k tank and "PC" >500k tank is mostly just the turret. Also the "huge reticule" makes no difference, and actually makes it harder as you have no pinpoint on exactly where it will land like you do with a rail. You have to rely on the reticule turning red and even then it can still miss occassionally. The weapon isn't hit scan, it has travel time that has to be taken into account past 50m when firing at a moving target.
But why am I bothering. Yes, the forge is OP, that's why everybody has flocked it it and it's now the weapon of choice. Light weapon heavies, slayer-logis and so on are all saving their SP to chase the amazing new FotM of the forge gun. |

FG is not easymode, trust me, i have proto. Also, rail has 3x the range, 2.25x the mag cap, way less charge time, and can go on a tank with over 5k health. Killing FGers with a PLC is actually pretty easy considering they are heavies, which is one thing a PLC destroys (if you have skill), as well as the fact that the PLC has less than a second charge time. |
