I hope it was me OP, recently had a match where I was wrecking it, it was my first time forge sniping since the recent charge nerf.
That change in timing really threw me, I'm having to re-learn CQC forging all over again, ended up getting me killed as my timing was off..
But forge sniping is fairly easy to avoid, just do the same as when avoiding a sniper, in CQC learn to not just see the heavy suit but what weapon he is actually carrying. A good portion of my kills came from people assuming I had a HMG and they were out of my range or were another heavy planting their feet for a stand off. |

I can't kill infantry with a FG it's not my thing plus i find it noobish to shoot at infantry with it.
Let me get this straight, Forging infantry is hard and requires skill but you're a noob for doing it?

The IAFG gets 1500 damage 277 splash within 2.1M. With the still cheaper Kaalakiota just dropping a bit of damage. If you ask me that 200isk difference should mean that the FG only gets a .75M splash. You all want to talk like FG sniping is hard when you get this huge reticule and a instant hit projectile. Maybe I am just tired of it taking a thousand times more skill and luck to even land a PLC shot near a FG user just to have him kill me with the easy mode FG.
Large rail has a faster firing time, 2nd shots and so on are at a faster rate, and it has zoom and longer range (I think forge is capped at 400m, 600 for Rail I think). Also turrets are always the most expensive part of a tank. On my tanks the difference between a "cheap" 240k tank and "PC" >500k tank is mostly just the turret. Also the "huge reticule" makes no difference, and actually makes it harder as you have no pinpoint on exactly where it will land like you do with a rail. You have to rely on the reticule turning red and even then it can still miss occassionally. The weapon isn't hit scan, it has travel time that has to be taken into account past 50m when firing at a moving target.
But why am I bothering. Yes, the forge is OP, that's why everybody has flocked it it and it's now the weapon of choice. Light weapon heavies, slayer-logis and so on are all saving their SP to chase the amazing new FotM of the forge gun. |

I remember people saying it ALWAYS hit dead center.
IDK, don't play heavy, maybe they changed that?
It still hits dead centre but often your targets are so small that the tape would cover them. |

If it was OP FotM scrubs would be using it, but they're not, they're running CR,RR and using Remote Spam and detonating them after death. As a forger you're a big target to get sniped, railed, and counter forged. You're restricted to hip fire and a reticule without a dot, relying on the red colour, you have no sights, not even the slightest zoom. You're largely reliant on your squads scans to even see where to fire and often I have to take a pot shot below the chevron at a target I cant see.
The splash damage is minimal with small range and can only nab weak scouts.
You're seeing forges sniping infantry now because of the event. I've already racked up the 300 HMG kills but it will take me twice as long to get 300 forge kills.
If you get forged with a direct hit >100m likely the forger couldn't even see you. If it's less than that he's not far from RR range so what's the problem? And if you get forged at CQC you should admire them, with a long charge time it's damn hard to pull off.
