@shiruba
I do agree that DUST has major problems right now. In fact, I have been critical of CCP a few times already. But unlike the OP, I didn't have to be a jerk about it. Some people just need to learn how to give constructive and well thought out feedback. That helps CCP more than just calling them stupid.
Edit: the famous Judge is well known for his very well thought out observations regarding vehicle imbalance and shows it very well in YouTube videos. In fact, it was because of the way he portrayed the issues that CCP took interest in his critiques.

CCP developed Eve Online. Shhh, the closed minded, short sighted doom and gloom scrubs (aka seemingly 95% of the forum community) won't be able to comprehend this. The only people who don't agree that DUST 514 in it's current state can not retain an new player for very long are people who: - Joined with friends or got right into a active corp so they had people to rage with (makes things so much better having people to talk to in the same match feeling what you feel) - Got insta-locked into the promise of the future DUST 514 sells so well and pushes themselves through it for that vague and possibly never reached vision (I believe it's about half and half to be honest.) - Or people like me (and most of the people still here in DUST 514) that joined DUST either in CBT or OBT and grinded with everyone at the start. WE DIDN'T GET ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS BECAUSE WE WERE ALL IN STD/BPO GEAR! We were being smart and leveling our cores and saving ISK which is the reason why some of us who aren't even in PC have 500m+. If anyone wasn't doing that and went straight into the proto suit and some weapon then we crushed them, T-Bagged the corps, and that person didn't spawn in that suit anymore because he didn't have the ISK to try that again after getting his ass handed to him by a BPO Raven suit with more base EHP, Fitting power, and core passives. We don't have the right to tell newbies to HTFU. We didn't have to AT ALL. I don't even make alts because playing on them is god aweful. And I KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME. I can't imagine what it's like for a new person who just picked a free game up off of PSN. That **** would have been off my system in an hour if I was a newb and made a new character now. Starting out in EvE is no where near this brutal. I just recenrly mad e a 2 month old pilot in eve for the first time ever using a 2 month free code. Easiest thing in the world to get started. DUST 514 has a new player retention issue. Just accept it and think of a way to fix it instead of trying to tell people it's fine. People are stupid but if you beat a dog long enough even it will figure out that that's not good. P.S. Btw I'm not backing you up OP. I think your a prick making a post like that even if your point is valid.
Oh I'm not denying there are current issues, I just think many in the community have a drama queen band wagon mentality that fails to see that D514 is a big ass work in progress and they seemingly expect D514 to be the fully realised vision NOW and just fart on and on about it.
In my estimation its like the clown who walked into Rome in the first year of construction saying "LOL oh this is so ****, no one will ever come and live here, this city is a fail and will die!"
Rome took about 500 years to reach its glory.

CCP developed Eve Online. If only DUST shared basically any similarities with EVE, and also lacked competition like EVE did.

Eve lacking competition?
World of Warcraft Guild Wars X Rebirth
Of course, WoW and GW are dragons and fantasy compared to Eve's scifi, but they are technically mmo games.

I can pick up just about any old FPS game, never mind the kickass new ones that are out, and find almost everything I find in DUST when it comes to moment to moment gameplay, but done with better polish.

The most hilarious part is that he thinks high sec newbs don't have anything valuable in high sec. Lol
Who the **** kills people in newb ships? or T1 frigates/cruisers? If they are new and no one is feeding them ISK, most wont have anything valuable for a while. When I say newb I also literally mean new player, not 2 year old players with faction fit mission running ships, or some moron with 30 plex in there unfit T1 frigate. EvE highsec gank's are mostly about making ISK, either by fleecing miners or just by killing ISK pinatas. People don't find new players with nothing valuable and just kill them in highsec. There is literally nothing to gain, and if you do it your ******* stupid. |

CCP developed Eve Online. You do realize EvE starts new players out in highsec, where no one is going to kill them. Sure its possible to, but no one would because newbs don't have anything valuable. Dust throws you to the wolves almost immediately. The equivalent in EvE would be to set up starting systems as a single highsec system in the middle of null security space.
It doesen't matter because Eve has been plagued by the same kind of b!tching and of the same amount.
Hence, there's no reason to take it very seriously.
Determined and commited hardcore players will find their way to dust as they did to Eve.

At least we don't have to worry about truly talented FPS players ever calling DUST home for very long, since it will never be taken seriously as an E Sport, and thus a competitive FPS for truly skilled players to compete and make $$$

Ugh... this tired old argument lol
You need to understand Eve and Dust are two completely different genres on two completely different systems. The console crowd are a much more fickle, unforgiving crowd than the PC gaming crowd. The FPS console crowd is probably the most unforgiving niche you can find. Look up a video of someone raging over a video game. Chances are it's an FPS.
If I wrote an amazing, breathtaking book, do you think I should be able to make an amazing, breathtaking movie as well? Just because one succeeds doesn't mean the other will.
I hope Dust turns out alright, but playing this game it is incredibly obvious that CCP are new to FPS's. They knew this game would have issues which is why they were smart enough not to charge for it. Imagine just how beyond dead this game would be if you had to pay money to play it. I wouldn't buy this game in it's current state and it's been out 9 months.
It's as if CCP's "10 year plan" is to have a playable game... in 10 years. |

And yet another one misses the point. Eve Online was competing against EA's Earth & Beyond when it first came out. Everyone thought Eve would crumble under E&B but instead E&B collapsed and Eve grew stronger. I heard the same thing about Xplane competing against Microsoft Flight Simulator with everyone thinking MSFS will win. MSFS got discontinued and got bought up by Lockheed Martin.
My overall point, which you missed, is that I have heard this before and usually this ended up with the doomsayers being wrong.

Difference is, EVE is a niche game. There's no other game out there that does what it does better.
DUST? It's a sub par lobby FPS. There's dime a dozen out there.
