I haven't done much in Eve since I've been spending so much time capping out in Dust, but some time I'll figure out how to make time for both games. EVE was developed by a new company with no experience. DUST was developed by a company with 10 years of experience with one of the most successful MMOs ever. "You should have seen what Eve looked like" is an excuse, and an excuse that doesn't fly. CCP had 0 experience building an FPS prior to DUST. It is competing with and compared to franchises (like Battlefield) that have perfected their shooter engines over many releases and many more years of experience. The Dev team for DUST is much smaller than those other AAA shooter franchises with much larger budgets. The development of DUST is following the same strategy as EVE and pursuing a pattern of constant iteration over a long time. There have certainly been some major mistakes, and I'm not excusing them, but DUST has come a long way since 1.0. 1.8 is looking to address much of the missing content, as well as address badly needed balancing changes. And here's the mentality, folks. This guy just doesn't get it. EVE doesn't compete with WoW and other MMOs. It appeals to a different crowd, and does well to get that crowd. In the same way, DUST shouldn't (cannot) compete with CoD and BF. Sure, CCP has no previous experience with FPS. You're dead wrong, however, to imply that their experience with EVE can't be translated to an FPS environment. It can be, and CCP didn't. Your mindset gives CCP a free pass for a sub par product (although it is improving.) You set standards low, and expectations even lower. "Well, it's a new game." "You should have seen EVE when it started." "CCP has no FPS experience." "The game might be good years and years down the road." You can't excuse CCP and then in the same post say you're not excusing them. Here's a decent article. I would say most of it is spot on. There's a big difference between being realistic about software development and excusing mistakes. If we look at the Battlefield series, the first was released in 2002. That's over a decade of refining the shooter mechanics, and building/refining/polishing the game engine. When they sit down to code Battlefield 5, they're not going to open up a blank text editor and start from scratch, they are going to continue to refine and improve what they have. These other studios have a major head start over a team like CCP Shanghai, not to mention a much larger budget and huge teams.
CCP has made major mistakes in the development of DUST. Having to switch engines was a huge setback, as was the error of the major graphical upgrade at the Uprising launch. It would have been much wiser to have been more conservative in the visual flourishes while they focused on balancing and mechanics. That was a bad decision that set development back significantly as they pushed the PS3 to the limit. I'm not excusing that at all. Getting hit detection perfected on the other hand is a difficult problem and I realize it takes time to get right. They have done a good job improving HD, and I suspect it will get better over time.
I think you're forgetting DUST is the first console to interface with an existing PC MMO. There is a huge amount of time and effort to make that happen. They have to design and build robust APIs that allow the games to interact, and are impervious to hackers. I really don't think you have a f*cking clue what's involved in developing software. You come off as a self-entitled whiny child.

I want to cry for joy right now. You understand me. This basic content (we even agree on what the basic content is, give or take just a few minor differences) is critical to both improving the MMO and the FPS aspects of the game.

I'm also looking forward and not looking forward to 1.8. a bunch of new stuff that might be fun but then I won't know the new fotm and how to counter it. As to the original post. Yup still beta quality game. I have heard rumors that they released it early to get loose from any contracts that hinged on their release date but who knows. nice sig looks familiar

That's reasonable in a beta, but it should be fixed in a released product.
PC 2.0 is badly needed, but could be considered an expansion of the core.

so when is offical release?
also from what iv heard through other players, is that it has been this way for quite some time.. with very slow progress and CCP failing to meet targets.
if this is true why are you guys still playing? like come on i know its addictive right but their are fully lauched better FPS's you could be playing right now lol..
i apologize if i come across as another butthurt newbie but i just dont see the potential of this game on a DATED engine and a last generation console :/
forgive my logical conclusion someone please correct me or enlighten me?
Who cares how old a game is or what engine it's on? I had fun playing Mega Bomberman on the Megadrive the other day, I have 170 more of those and I prefer them any day over some 2014 AAA FPS release. In the same way I'll play a shooter from 2006, especially if it's on PC, who cares?
Actually CCP has cut multiple maps from being released becuase of the ram limitations on the PS3. It's a huge issue that is behind most f why we have such a large lack of content.

I would like to see Amarr and Minmitar Complexes, but I would not consider that necessary for release. You forgot to list MTACs, which, based on CCP's claims, should be in the game before release. I'd accept the argument that they belong as extra content though, since they still aren't in now, and there's not a lot of evidence that CCP are particularly interested in adding them as soon as many of us would like.
You also missed racial TURRET variants for vehicles. Currently, we have 2 Caldari turret types, and only one Gallente turret, with no Amarr or Minmatar models at all. As core content, it's reasonable to only have one racial turret each, but I would prefer to see 2 for each race personally.
I also think it's reasonable to expect TWO Heavy weapons per race - one anti-infantry and one anti-vehicle.
So after 1.8 we'll still be missing, as you stated: -Gallente and Amarr Heavy Weapons -Amarr and Minmatar LAV, HAV, Dropship
AND what you didn't mention: -MTACs (maybe) -Amarr and Minmatar vehicle turrets -Caldari and Minmatar second Heavy Weapon
Most importantly though, there are key GAMEPLAY ELEMENTS that are missing and meant to be in the game before release: -Fully functional Planetary Conquest mode with manufacturing and other resource management aspects -RTS-style commander mode. -PLAYER MARKETPLACE -Skyfire Batteries (possible argument this isn't core content, but it's been shown as far back as the first trailer) -MEANINGFUL two-way interaction between DUST and EVE |

I would have to agree with you on the Small/large laser/projectile turrets & installations. I mentioned the vehicles, but forgot to include the weapons.
MMCGÇÖs and RDVGÇÖs do not effect game play. Yes, I want them for immersion reasons, but I would not insist on them for the game to be release ready. I would want them eventually though.
As far as the socket sets, I would just like to have the next two that they develop be Amarr and Minmitar. However I think the socket they have been working on recently is actually another Caldari socket.
P2P market I agree with.
I played World of Warcraft off and on from its first expansion to its third expansion. It had more terrain glitches than DUST has currently.

I think the reason I stay beside my frustrations is because of time invested. Also nothing else I want to play right now. I am pretty excited over the new vehicles. Maybe that's the big surprise their gonna bring out at fan fest? Min Am HAV and dropships?
Going straight for amarr dropships. Those hit points, hopefully have quite a bit of health, in exchange for being slow than the other dropships

I've been saying that about LMGs since 1.3. There are no SAWs. You couldn't even begin to call the AR a section light auto because it has the effective range of a mini smg |
