This is a Topic to discuss and address the REAL Number 1 glaring issue with Dust514; CCP Shanghai.
(And, No, I'm not a racist - so you can abandon whatever lame Hit|er/Holocaust argument you're already concocting in your little Junior Varsity brain. I'm a farmer. Plants that do not produce are removed and processed into mulch to feed the future productive crop.)

What do you see as the problem with CCP Shanghai? If it is a lack if production, how do you see this related to the location? Speed of production likely has multiple influences. Recent change in direction of design as well as directorship would effect the output levels.

Recent change in direction of design as well as directorship would effect the output levels. It's like having a franchise of Sales Offices. When margins are narrowed, the least effective or even defective branches are eliminated and their workload outsourced to a more productive facility. They (CCP) have expressed a communication breakdown in the past and even address it (via context clues) in any job listing I've run across. The change in management has been long enough for the effects to be seen already, if the new EP was worth his weight in salt. But what have we seen? That glorious AV balance pass? Event rewards delayed by nearly a month? It may seem petty, but it's very indicative of what is ahead.

Event rewards delayed by nearly a month? It may seem petty, but it's very indicative of what is ahead. Communication issues are always something that needs to be addressed, I agree with you on that. Though as far as the new EP proving his value, I want to see what we get here soon. I expect a certain level of delay with that shift though. It's much like when leadership changes in government, rapid change does not really happen and usually the first block of time is spent assessing, readjusting and sometimes repairing the damage done by the previous heads of state. 1.8 is looking to be one large content drop, one I am looking forward to. I know previous actions by CCP in regards to Dust have been less than encouraging, and many of us are frustrated with different aspects of what has past, but for my part I don't really hold the current EP accountable for that, not even really the existing team at Shanghai, simply because I don't know what extent of cluster **** is their responsibility and what was poor decisions of previous people.
I don't know that outsourcing (or changing branches within CCP) would help the situation, or slow things down further. The people who have all the information on these things obviously are in a better position to make that assessment than I.
The delay on event rewards is annoying me a bit Pretty sure I have a few hundred knife kills racked up for that one, and I can always use free suits

There are tons of programmers and coders with a vast wealth of knowledge when using the U3 engine. I assume some are chomping at the bit to get their hands on it and show what it can do. However, I doubt any of them would consider a long-term move to Shanghai a worthwhile exchange, and judging by their hirings in the past it does not attract anyone of note.

Cheaper in what sense? Cheaper per unit of game functionality produced? Cheaper per subscriber-year? Cheaper per good review?
Or just cheaper per programmer-hour?

Hey, whoa whoa, that's OUR word.
Firstly, the fact that you bring up race in the first place started your argument off in the wrong way. I don't believe that you aren't racist, but it is clear that you are implying that because a product is made in China it deserves less respect. The problem with the logistics of communication in another language across the globe is hardly a situation to criticize. Many companies making much more difficult things manage it just fine. You are a farmer; don't you think that that situation happens every time foreign crops are imported? We have the internet now. If you're going to say something say what you mean and mean what you say.
Also I am from Mexico, and I have been to China, and it would be a lie to say that a great deal of production based industries are not at the same level of technology or organization as those in the US and EU. The factor of course is money and part culture but rest assured that other countries are just as capable at producing capable developers and software producers. As someone said earlier in the thread, Shanghai is a modern, very up-to-date city. It is not a lone run-down "typical Chinese factory" that houses the office used to produce this game.
Ok, so of course it is being produced the way it is to conserve money, but that is not the reason that the game has its issues. I personally believe that most of the issues rise from CCPs inexperience with new game development as a whole, from the level of finance and marketing to lower-level management and bureaucracy. I honestly do not believe that CCP (in all locations) does not have talented/experienced programmers and staff but it is clear by their rollout of this game that they didn't know what they were diving in to. That doesn't mean that this game isn't good or going to be better, but CCP isn't quite Activision. You'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt and just as with EVE they'll figure it out and start delivering some quality stuff.
For anyone who wants to know the word 'guey' is used in the same way as 'dude' or 'mate' or 'bro'. It is not racist or offensive to Mexicans in any way but you might get strange looks if you use it.

@Midas, my growing partner is Mexican. Before going into farming, I was a cook for 15 years. Most of 'my people' are Mexican and Guatemalan. I mention the racist thing because most of the people here are stupid children with no scope of reality and if you don't name a specific person they assume you're disparaging an entire race.
I've given CCP my time and the benefit of doubt for over a year. They've been at it even longer. It's time to start pointing fingers and assessing blame if they hope to salvage this ship before it sinks. This game is on the verge of being forgotten rubbish if nothing is done.
