Although I expect this to get ignored. Much like my complaints about changing the very reason I chose my suits were the features that they have removed. Three things for Minmatar Logistics; 4 equip slots, 5HP repair at proto and hack bonus. Scanner is required so TacNet elimination costs an equip slot, HP repair cost armor expansion and hack bonus now goes to replace the ganked repair tool. All of that while saying the CCP corporate **** speak, HTFU, GTFO, STFU and too bad sucka.
No real reason to expect this is going to happen so 1.8 will be the perfect time to transition out of Dust. Then I can check in once a month to see what they have screwed up since the last time. I will keep my ISK scammers, don't ask.
And so it goes.

Heinrich Jagerblitzen wrote:First off, IWS is absolutely a "real CPM" and one of our workhorses on the team, disrespecting him isn't going to impress me, or CCP, or anyone else for that matter. If you're going to lecture about maturity, make sure you're exuding it yourself. Also - I'm not sure how long you've been around these forums, but while IWS has been blessed with the urge to post prolifically, eloquence has never been his strong suit. This is a classic case of players having an absolute meltdown over a series of extremely rational (and truthful) comments about the issue.
The bottom line is this, no one (not the CPM, not CCP) is putting some foot down and refusing to deliver Corp Battles. This whole approachj of "GRAB THE TORCHES, FIRE UP THE PETITION, LETS HAVE A REVOLUTION" is a huge mistaken waste of effort, just as IWS previously said.
Here are the unadulterated facts, scrubbed of hyperbole and emotion:
1.) CCP does not respond to petitions. They have never been a recognized form of getting a feature or change pushed, They're not about to be, and signing and spamming one carries zero weight in terms of actually accomplishing what you want to accomplish.
2.) There is no need to convince either the CPM or CCP that there is plenty broken with PC, and plenty of merit in having pitched battles between corporation. I've personally brainstormed ideas with devs directly and seen interest in offering this type of gameplay in the future, the lack of them coming out and promising to work on this feature tomorrow does not mean that anyone's saying "corp battles will never happen in the future".
3.) CCP is undergoing some heavy internal examination under the leadership of the new EP, they're not ready to discuss the future of Dust at this time, but they will in the not-too-distant future. No, we cannot give you an ETA.
4.) The long-term planning taking place under the new EP will have a lot to do with what major features like this get worked on and in what order.
5.) CCP is working on dropsuits and weapons and balancing in the meantime, because work must continue, and this is low-hanging fruit they can manage without needing the long-term plans finalized yet. Work on dropsuits and balances does NOT indicate that this is the most important aspect of the game, only one that is manageable independent of the larger picture, which is still being painted.
6.) Pretending that there's some battle here between the will of the players and the will of CCP or the CPM is pointless and harmful, it wastes other community member's energy by leading them into a confrontation that is both unnecessary and only going to lessen your credibility as someone trying to make positive change.
So by all means, continue to berate IWS for sharing the truth, which is that Corp Contracts are not going to magically appear in 1.8 because you made a petition and got a bunch of people angry at a perceived slight. Corp contracts will also not return in their previous form, certainly not tied to Faction Warfare and certainly not without some of the design issues addressed in the process. Will they return in some form, some day? I certainly hope so, as do all of the rest of the CPM. No one's fighting the -idea- of corp contracts, all IWS is trying to explain is that stamping our feet and bumping threads is not going to be the way this gets implemented.
If any of MY statement above is factually untrue (such as devs EXPLICITLY declaring they will not be re-implementing a corp contract system or providing corps freedom to create their own content at districts) , feel free to correct me here. Otherwise, I'm more than happy to dowse the torches and send everyone home from the riot party with the comfortable knowledge that there's no need to obnoxiously bump threads and lead a faux revolution just to "be heard". You've been heard by the CPM, you've been heard by CCP, everyone knows PC is broke and corp contracts were more fun, and all there is left to do is to chill for a bit until the new EP can share with you his plan for the future.
....and THAN you can go grab your pitchforks again if don't hear what you're looking for. Fair enough? Not the same topic, but the same idea that petitions don't work....

yeah no. against a respec.
Dust should feel pretty goddamn special with how many respec's they have been graced with so far, in EVE, we dotn see respecs, period, even if a class goes from top of the pile to bottom of the barrel, we will never see 1 sp in respec, only time we get sp back is when a skill is outright removed.

I don't really see why they won't give a respec or that they even need to discuss it as they should have read all those respec threads (starting from UPRISING 1.0).
I wouldn't be surprised that they are discussing on when they should give it as they are still not sure of how medium suits (and other things) will function in 1.8 :
CCP Logibro wrote:Just to add, the Medium Frames are all getting some base stat adjustments, but no changes to slots (though that's not ruled out for post 1.8)
I wouldn't be surprised that they are just opting for a quick implementation and adjusting stuff along the way and then give out respecs after all things are set (kind of like a beta-phase ).
I wouldn't be surprised that 1.8 won't be that great, but just a run up to the greatness everyone is expecting. |

I agree with the bolded part, but only after you made a post in this thread, but to play along with your stupid statement of they skilled for "the best", then why is it a problem that they shouldn't get "the best" suit after a redesign, because "the best" is what they have chosen in the first place .
Yeah no. I don't even use "the best" suits and I don't care if people want "the best" suit again.
DUST514 are apples while EVE are oranges, try to remember what your elementary teacher told you about that. Maybe you could see it as a removal of skills that are replaced by almost similar skills (I wouldn't be able to get the same logi-suits with the new skills)...you have just agreed to a respec . |

If you're gonna change up nearly everything, and (hopefully) restructure the dropsuit skill tree, we'd better be compensated accordingly. If not, I don't think I have to explain how many people would put down Dust and wait for their passive sp to build up.
It's almost such a no-brainer that I almost can't believe it's being debated, CCP should definitely have made a public announcement by now.

Only if I can sign a petition about people who make generalizations that all people who want (constant? LOL) respecs skilled up "FOTM"-stuff and ignores all the other stuff made in favor of respecs. I would also like to ask: Why do you think that "FOTM"-speccers don't have a pool of unassigned SP saved up?
The reason why you feel that respecs are constant...is because people use their SP to actually play a game and based on that, they can bring unbalanced stuff, glitches, bugs,.... to light. This way it's possible to improve the game way faster than just idling your SP, I hope you realize that UPRISING was a fiasco (I guess CCP didn't know what long term goal planning was either). |

constant refunds no but vehicles got a refund when they had the total revamp , now dropsuits and upgrades are totally changing from what was originally "sold" as well as all variants being introduced to dropsuits. a refund for the skills on effected changes or a migration of skill points to the racial variant of your choice does not seem unreasonable more so for the new playerbase that doesnt have millions of sp invested into skills. the vets will likely spent thier skill points against the same skills minus those that wish a different racial variant of something they are already skilled into. the wepons refund not so important, dropsuits 100%, upgrades with how equipment is being changed would like equipment items refunded maybe not all of the upgrades.

Some players who use FOTM fittings might have a pool of unassigned SP, however, those are typically not the ones asking for a Respec (If they did have SP saved up, there would be no need for a respec as they could use their pool of SP to spec into whatever they wanted to after patch date).
RKKR wrote: The reason why you feel that respecs are constant...is because people use their SP to actually play a game and based on that, they can bring unbalanced stuff, glitches, bugs,.... to light. I don't feel that respecs have been constant. We've had one respec (two if you count the tank skills for 1.7) that I know of, which was coincidental with the game leaving beta and going live. I was fine with it. However, ever since uprising, people have constantly been whining, err, asking for more respecs. Check the forums, you will find dozens of posts on this one issue. The game hasn't even been out of beta for one year and another respec would set a precedent that whenever a major change to the game balance happens, a respec will be given, so rather than being cautious with my SP, I should spend them on whatever is currently overpowered, and then just whine about a respec the next time something is changed.
And honestly, the only unbalanced stuff spending all your skillpoints on has brought to light is how overpowered certain weapons/suits/equipment are. This then leads to those items being nerfed, and a mass of people who now have a plethora of skillpoints in weapons/suits/equipment that is no longer OP, demanding a respec.
If people know ahead of time, that OP weapons/suits/equipment will be nerfed eventually, and no respec will be given, they then have to weigh that against the benefits of abusing FOTM OP weapons/suits/equipment until they are nerfed. This translates to less people abusing the FOTM OP weapons/suits/equipment, which leads to a more pleasurable playing experience for all players, until the offending OP item is properly balanced. |

I started this character to be Minmitar Assault, then armor got buffed, speed tanking turned to ****, and shields got nerfed. This suit has never been FOTM, but that doesn't mean every FOTM nerf doesn't screw over other things as collateral damage.
Also it's just the right thing to do when you keep changing everything on your playerbase, I want this game to survive and I know come 1.8 and no respec or whenever they announce no respec i'll be gone. Not a threat, just a simple reality this game is hemorrhaging players due to too much failed deliveries and broken updates and they should make it up to the playerbase when they screw around with everything. They can't expect a market success on the console market with a 10 year plan like Eve.

Can I sign a different petition asking people to stop whining for respecs. Constant respecs are bad for the game and punish those players who put off short term benefits for a longer term goal (those who saved SP instead of wasting it on FOTM).
Saving those points will still benefit you as you can put them into Dropsuit Upgrades, which are confirmed to not be getting a respec. It will also benefit you if we ONLY get weapons or ONLY dropsuits respeced.
None of you who are against a respec are getting the point.
Minmatar Logis who skilled into the suit for the hacking speed bonus are being punished.
The same also goes for people who skilled into:
- Sentinel for the weapon feedback resistance
- Amarr Logi for the armor repair module bonus
- Logis for the armor rep bonus
- Assault for the shield recharge bonus
- Caldari for the shield bonuses
And what about the assault people weren't planning on skilling into the racial weapons which they will now be forced to do? Or people who have those weapons and not the correct assault suit being outclassed by those who do?

If the CalLogiTAR514 -version of the game would have been balanced you would have seen more counter-builds to it, hence that it gives an indication to an unbalanced game...
Dustbunny Durrr wrote:However, ever since uprising, people have constantly been whining, err, asking for more respecs.
Check the forums, you will find dozens of post on this one issue. Indeed and I see more logic reasons why a respect should be an option. What about the people that didn't spec into overpowered stuff? I skilled up Gallente Logi before armor-tanking was usefull (that were some frustrated times) and my other suits? Noone ever said they were OP?
This is not (only) about stuff being nerfed, it's about stuff being changed.
The decision makers at CCP should have never released UPRISING in it's current form to avoid these problems we have today, we will never know the reason but saying otherwise is just stupid.
PS: if people know that one suit will be OP, then the DEVS should have know it too...that reason is gay as ****. |

No.. It is like going to a store that says they will eventually sell doughnuts, but declare that right now they only have Bagels, then you buying a bagel, get a bagel, and later complain that they wont give you a doughnut. You bought your bagel, knowing it was bagel, and you ate the bagel - you made that choice, deal with it. What was I supposed to do? Starve to death in the mean time?

It's like wanting a bagel, and ordering a bagel, and then being told they've changed the bagel into a salad. You didn't want a salad, so you demand a different order. Something with more bread and less lettuce.

In the same vein- I run Min Logi with uplinks, hives and a scanner. No rep tool because I'm not that kind of logi. But in 1.8, the Min Logi's bonus is entirely to repair tools. The clone I built so carefully for my playstyle is going to have entirely different strengths than when I chose it. It's not necessarily better or worse, but it's very different. Had I known these would be the new bonuses, I wouldn't have picked that suit.
This warrants a respec. |

First Eve players are oranges and Dust players are apples. Now you're all stammering on about bagels and salads.
I think the metaphor has long since been gutted, de-boned, and hung out to dry.

And let me state here that if we do not get a refund, i will leave for 3-4 months. While CCP obviously doesn't care about that, i won't buy boosters either.
If this game delivers and gives me a reason to buy boosters(maxing out my favorite builds rather than passive grind to get lv1 min commando) then i will buy 2-3 30 day active boosters.(or the economically smart equivelent) along with 3-4 month long passives. I will buy a Pack, whatever their names are.
If they don't oh well, i've got 3-4 other games to play while i wait for Grind/Shattered decisions 514 to fix itself.
