THE SETUP They've come out with some stats for the skill bonuses to suits, recently assaults and logies.
They've also said that the rail rifle will be nerfed and there's many more changes to come to the other weapons.
The assault suit bonus is supposed to be a maximum of 25% reduction to weapons PG and CPU cost, and there's alot of people saying that logies will soon be getting a reduction in their total PG and CPU output to balance the new skill which they would all carry of reducing the equipment cost.
It could be said that logies had so much PG and CPU to use because they were meant to carry alot of equipment, now that they have an incentive to carry equipment and less of a need for the space it would make sense to reduce the total amount of PG and CPU as there wouldn't be as much of a need for it.
As for weapons, as it stands now some prototype weapons take up less room on your suit than most defensive modules or equipment. So in some cases having this PG and CPU reduction would be pointless, or I guess would be good in the sense that you can make an already low costing weapon, cost less, and put even more defensive mods on their suits just cuz.
HERE'S THE POINT Following this logic and working with this information (that is also speculative and not set in stone), one of the changes to weapons I think will be an overall PG and CPU increase (maybe not for sidearms though, which would also make sense because currently some sidearms have about the same cost as some primary weapons, more in some cases)
Would be pretty interesting to see how this would affect all of the other suits in terms of their intended function.
EXTRA SPECULATATION...EXTRULATION! Would certainly define the logies and the assaults, assaults would balanced weapon haulers (balanced in terms of moderate speed damage and defense) logies would be equipment haulers (hopefully still defensive after the nerf hits so your medics can stay alive, jussayin) commandos would be dealing more damage (probably be closer to glass cannons) scouts will be ninja/sabotours (awesome) and heavies will be...broken, you thought I was gonna say damage soaking tanks huh? Nope, at this point there's not really any benefit to using heavy weapon, even if you're a heavy.
There's no bonus to heavy weapons only the capability to use them and in my experience light weapons are in general more effective than heavy, and I don't have alot of experience with heavy weapons but that's the point, you should be able to pick up a weapon and at minimum make it work, but given more skill points and time weapons become more effective, and even then you can overpower heavy weapons easily with light weapons, it would be great if there were greater separation between heavy and light weapons but we'll see what happens, otherwise there's gonna be alot of heavies with lots of HP and rifles and nothing slowing them down...besides their slow speed

I agree for everything. Assaults are Weapons holders. Logi equipements holders.
With CCP changements everything is OK. (GG CCP)
But i don't agree with you. Heavy weapons are now WAY more powerful than Infantry weapons (exept 4 racial rifles which are going to be nerf so....). HMG cut down everything in less than 30 meters. Forge is the best AV weapon. When i see a tank destroyed it's usually from Forge or an another tank.
To resume CCP has done the work and the whiners are usually Assaults that wanted +10000000 damage per shot and +50000 ehp...... + 8000000 roF......

Pre 1.7 I could outgun heavies with an SMG, post 1.7 it's with a combat rifle, if 1 guy with less health van take down a guy with a bigger gun and more health, there's a problem, that's all I'm saying, and no I don't stack damage mods.
I barely use heavy suits but I'm not afraid to be on the other end of one, this is bad lol

Inexperience plus being only slightly faster than growing moss make for easy kills

FYI just went 45-10-1 with a basic HMG on a std sentinel, prof 5 HMG, maxed biotic and all passives. In pubs sure HMG is good just in PC you need to be attached to a logi on a cargo hub or the inside point on a production facility. |

I hope you are right weapon fittings increase would make them as hard to fit as your tank making it easier to for the choice between dmg and tank in non combat suits. Better then the role debuff of increased fitting cost of all items using the weaponry skill that I would have suggested for logis. |

Hi Guys
I am fairly new to this game having only played since June/July 2013 (22m SP currently) so i appreciate my comments may be relative. This is just my thoughts...
I have all core skills that matter to 5, I have 5 in all aspects of the HMG and Forge Gun and have no problems at all killing any tank, or any infantry in the game (i normally just run advanced gear also to save isk).
It makes me laugh when i listen to the continual debate, the reality is this: CQB i would rarely loose any fight 1 on 1, my advanced burst HMG for example would kill most suits in 1-2 bursts (Adv senti / 1x complex damage). Only yesterday i was 1-2 burst hitting proto logis from a very well known corp (i won't say name lol) for fun, so much so i was invited into their team the next match and asked if i wanted to join!
My proto breach forge gun would kill most dropships in 1-2 shots, a decent tank always in 3-4... assuming it doesnt run away lol (Adv heavy / x2 complex damage). I have constantly killed some of the best tankers and drop ship pilots in the game.
The reality is yes we are bad in open areas/medium range but thats the players lack of skill/ability or awareness. Also it's becuase alot of heavies are only passively specced into their gear thus are weak by default vs. light weapons.
See you on the field guys :)
Personally i love this game but it is starting to feel rather easy these days
Regards Gaz (female character called Melissa) - long story lol :)

If the new Assault bonuses are anything like the new Logi bonuses expect whatever 'bonus' your getting to be a nerd to the general performance of that weapon.
Rail Rifles: Damage nerf is needed, but also expect reload time to go up so that CalAssaults will be the only ones to use it as it exists right now.
Projectiles: Expect clip size to go down unless you have lvl 5 MinAssault
Blasters: Getting more kick I'd expect.
Lasers: Shouldn't change too much?
The most OP weapon on the Dust Battle Field:
One good logi, one rep tool, and a heavy.
