They've come out with some stats for the skill bonuses to suits, recently assaults and logies.
They've also said that the rail rifle will be nerfed and there's many more changes to come to the other weapons.
The assault suit bonus is supposed to be a maximum of 25% reduction to weapons PG and CPU cost, and there's alot of people saying that logies will soon be getting a reduction in their total PG and CPU output to balance the new skill which they would all carry of reducing the equipment cost.
It could be said that logies had so much PG and CPU to use because they were meant to carry alot of equipment, now that they have an incentive to carry equipment and less of a need for the space it would make sense to reduce the total amount of PG and CPU as there wouldn't be as much of a need for it.
As for weapons, as it stands now some prototype weapons take up less room on your suit than most defensive modules or equipment. So in some cases having this PG and CPU reduction would be pointless, or I guess would be good in the sense that you can make an already low costing weapon, cost less, and put even more defensive mods on their suits just cuz.
HERE'S THE POINT
Following this logic and working with this information (that is also speculative and not set in stone), one of the changes to weapons I think will be an overall PG and CPU increase (maybe not for sidearms though, which would also make sense because currently some sidearms have about the same cost as some primary weapons, more in some cases)
Would be pretty interesting to see how this would affect all of the other suits in terms of their intended function.
EXTRA SPECULATATION...EXTRULATION!
Would certainly define the logies and the assaults, assaults would balanced weapon haulers (balanced in terms of moderate speed damage and defense) logies would be equipment haulers (hopefully still defensive after the nerf hits so your medics can stay alive, jussayin) commandos would be dealing more damage (probably be closer to glass cannons) scouts will be ninja/sabotours (awesome) and heavies will be...broken, you thought I was gonna say damage soaking tanks huh? Nope, at this point there's not really any benefit to using heavy weapon, even if you're a heavy.
There's no bonus to heavy weapons only the capability to use them and in my experience light weapons are in general more effective than heavy, and I don't have alot of experience with heavy weapons but that's the point, you should be able to pick up a weapon and at minimum make it work, but given more skill points and time weapons become more effective, and even then you can overpower heavy weapons easily with light weapons, it would be great if there were greater separation between heavy and light weapons but we'll see what happens, otherwise there's gonna be alot of heavies with lots of HP and rifles and nothing slowing them down...besides their slow speed
