Is this just going to be an Aurum standard Plasma Cannon?, You need to aim higher, for something like Rattati's CER-5 Plasma Cannon

Everyone runs amarr logi for uplinks.I can't remember seeing a Caldri logi except when I bring in Nanohives. I don't see the spam like in the past. Maybe the spaming vets left. I have 2 Caldari Logistics fits that I use in combat (as opposed to logistical operations). One fit uses Core Locus grenades, and the other uses Packed Lai Dai AV grenades. I wouldn't call triage stations lame or spammy.... but they might be more effective in front line use if they had more HP and I could cary more. If I could carry 6, with 2 active at any one time, it might be worth using them, because they run out too quick, and I spend the rest of the battle searching for a depot or playing as an equipmentless slayer logi. [IDEA] Let us resupply our deployables by salvaging enemies or their equipment.
Idea mashup: - make adv & pro deployables carry 4 with 2 active at any time (std & mlt carry 2 with 1 active) - make all deployables restockable at supply depots - make all deployables hackable - make all deployables salvagable (Minmatar only?)

why not change equipment so that it doesnt need to be deployed at all?
nanohives would simply work by having one on your suit. anyone standing near you gets ammo.
uplinks work by spawning near the guy carrying it.
BOOM! no more spam
it would also shake things up within the game for reason that should be obvious to everyone.
Logis suddenly become mobile supply depots and CRUs... if they choose to be lol |

That was suggested a few months ago already. Terrible idea.

Mad Syringe wrote:If you swap suits, the deployed equipment should be taken from your assets. So that if you spam equipment, you have to pay in isk for all the nice warpoints you get.
It can't be, that you switch to a proto suit, spam all available equipment on it, and change back to militia without any cost.
Equipment on the field, should always be taken out of the asset pool.
Cheers Mad If that's the case however (and I see support for the idea logically) it must apply universally not just to deployed objects or it nerfs equipment only, and only certain types, becoming a 'stealth' role nerf due to objections over a specific type of meta play.
If we're going through route the simple version would be to revert to the days when suit swap expended the fitting you are currently in - because that's in essence what this is suggesting just applied universally rather than narrowly.
A better method, IMO, is simply to apply a cool down to depot swaps just as there is with vehicle recall/deployment. Yes it will still be used but the use will be mitigated and the game wide application equal.

Luther Mandrix wrote:bogeyman m wrote:Luk Manag wrote:I perform every variety of equipment spam - when necessary. Why in the world would you oppose equipment spam? There are occasions when good equipment can save the match.
Example 1. Proxy mines. To kill a tank I have to put out all 3 levels of mines. I'm not going to run around with a bunch of proxy mines after I have the trap set, because they will disappear if I drop more.
Example 2. Triage Nanohives. They are a waste of an equipment slot compared to the repair ammounts possible with the rep tool. My Cal logi is the most effective with ammo-only nanohives. With everyone swapping suits to repair up, why not collect some WP? And, if they can get back to the fight more quickly, bonus! With the new lower hitpoints on hives, front line use is a waste (too easy to pop them from use and AOE damage).
Example 3. Uplinks. Bad uplinks can be as much of a disaster as smart-spawn.
It's not an elegant system, but it has to be done. You guys want to just zerg rush the front lines - and then get mad when you run out of ammo-then die-then rage out when there are no good spawns? I'm not so much against equipment spam as I am against the effect on game performance when multiple people do it at the same time. That's the biggest issue for me. I've been in many matches where the game becomes unplayable. If Supply Depots would refill all equipment and one could carry more (but deploy less at one time), I think the game performance would be much improved. I appreciate, and agree with, your point regarding the strategic use of equipment to influence a match. Theoretically, if there was a Supply Depot near by and not including proto or LP gear, I could deploy 6 proxies, 6 REs, 5 uplinks and 9 nanohives all at the same time - then run off to hunt tanks with a Swarm Launcher. (I haven't actually tried this yet, but I just made myself curious.) However, I would actually prefer if all equipment had some sort of inherent accountability - I'm not as big a fan of drop and forget gear. If drop and forget can get hacked its a game changer.Keep it the way it is an let us hack equipment
I've supported this idea for a long time and I still do. It would require tactical play without production of a mechanical bottleneck. Further this would add an extra use for active scans as mine fields of Prox or RE could be hacked (they are deployed equipment after all).
My suggestion for this was to require Infantry Hacking skills, or a fitted Codebreaker of equal or greater meta level for hacking the deployed equipment. This is value added to some lessor used skills/mod configurations, a more compelling reason to run an active scanner even with scout spam in the meta, and creates rather than reduces tactical choices in both fitting selection (Min Scout asset hacker anyone?) and equipment deployment (better make sure that uplnks secure or you're feeding the hostile team).

You will see the light, one day. For your sake hopefully it is the light of God, not the light of my LR as the duct tape boils away and your dropsuit melts into slag.
As for your earlier post about your opinion being in large part based on game performance, a lot of the lag due to equipment was (shockingly) fixed around 1.6-1.7 as I recall.
I'll give you the same argument I gave then: We shouldn't be balancing things, especially ones that are fundamental to certain playstyles (yes, mine in this case) based on bugs or sloppy coding that causes performance issues. The goal should be to fix the underlying problem, not the symptom it causes.

I will ignore the initial, misguided tone of your reply. (But I might duct tape a 'reclaimed' Caldari scout exoskeleton over top of my Matari dropsuit anyway.)
I have recently witnessed noticeable performance degradation when significant equipment has been deployed within a relatively small area. So there still seems to be room for improvement post 1.8
And as much as it pains me to agree with someone of your heritage, fixing the problem is infinitely more important than fixing the symptoms.

you dont have to fit uplinks though, just like most people dont fit them now. the difference is that if the spawn is another player then you cant camp him like you can now with uplinks. you cant get stuck anymore from uplinks being placed inside crates on on roof tops with small rails that heavy suits cant jump over. no more bad spawns.
or now you get really great spawns! like a scout with a cloak sneaking in behind the enemy and having a squad of heavies spawn on him lol |
