CCP is trying to get away from straight damage bonuses, so that's a no go. It also seems they are trying to give Assaults weapon bonuses, and not module bonuses, so a shield extender bonus is out as well. My suggestion would be the proposed reload bonus, with a small spool time reduction on top. +5% reload speed and -5% spool time for hybrid rail weapons per level?

Unfortunately he/she is right about the damage bonus. It just sounds unfeasible. The shield bonus however shouldn't be. But that's well what it is. I think that the reduction to spool up time would help things a little

Caldari needs a shield boost and damage boost like the original stats were. Ok I can definately agree with this. The logis are getting nerfs. I don't have a single SP in Cal assault but I think this bonus is a bit unfair. The Ama and Min bonuses fundamentally change how you can use your weapon. A reload bonus changes basically nothing.
What would be better? Maybe a slightly lower charge time? Or even a slight range increase? Both fit nicely with Caldari tech/doctrine. Either way, it has to be just enough make a difference but not so much that it's OP, if that's possible. |

what about a kick/sway bonus? make the guns better when aiming down sight, combined with spool up time or maybe a small cpu reduction on top of assualt bonus (more cpu means better shield tank). |

we already had consensus on the DPS bonuses for the DPS class...
Other then a couple yellow suit running people and heat gun breaking mechanic bonus supporters WELL OVER 60% of the community was happy with the DPS bonuses on a DPS class..
Now we get the same bonuses that they had on Chromosome blog's about the Assault? These bonuses unless they tweak the entire game around them will kill the class...

Someone may of said this but RR are getting a nerd in 1.8 but Caldari new bonus applies to them, i don't get that, Keep the caldari bonus where it is because the shield extender HP numbers are garbage, if they get rid of the current bonus they need to add more HP to shield extenders as well |

they are nerfing more then just the rail rifle. i just cant imagine the reload bonus being useful unless they cut the clip by 50% or so. i am guessing they want to make the RR less good in close range, yet the cal assualt bonus will be most useful in that range? give it to the gallente, take the kick reduction in exchange. |

Yes, the community cried and they listened. I'm shocked actually. I didn't think they would listen to the whiny brats who will vacate this place once Destiny arrives.
I said this to a friend earlier and its the truth...the folks with weaker resolves are ruining this game. I will slow my investment into this game.

and for the OP...you have to understand, it wasn't the amarrians complaining about the ROF. It was bandwagon hoppers who cried about it. Folks like Cat Merc and many others who brought up ridiculous reasons why it should be nerfed. They are the ones who lead CCP down this stupid road. And they will continue to do so. I have watched this forum change aspects of the game for the worse. The proof in the pudding is scanners and tanks. No matter what people will say or how much they omit from memory, their constant threads pushing stupid ideas is what caused CCP to bring this about. They are trying to keep the players happy and the folks who talk in the forums really are short sighted and never think of the impacts. Most just want to deal with it as it arrives, never looking to the future for the possibility and the probability.
Until they stop listening to such whiny console players who are fickle as a thread of silk rope, we will continue this crazy formula of introduction, mass consumption, threads crying for nerfs and CCP obliging and making drastic changes to the game itself.

My problem is that the RoF bonus is a Commando bonus. That's one of the 2 big things about being a commando. You have 2 light weapons and you get the reload speed (Or at least it was before 1.8 stats). Now we have the Caldari Assault emulating the commando bonus.
As others have said, it also is not very Caldari. The Caldari value efficiency. I highly doubt they would be in a rush to churn through ammo and get the fast reloads in.
Other ideas could be - Increased optimal range with weapons per level. - Reduced ammunition drain while firing weapons. - Increased ammo replenishment from nanohives - Increased ammo replenishment speed
Just throwing random ideas out but the first part of my post is the most important part. |

Assaults are about offensive capabilities, therefore they should have bonuses to increase weapon effectiveness. HP related things fit better on sentinels, not assaults. That being said, I don't think the reload bonus is nearly as appealing as some of the others, I would bundle (kind of like how Minmatar scout is getting hacking speed and knife damage bundled in one bonus) it with an ammo reserves bonus, and a kick reduction bonus to make it more useful. Maybe even an effective range bonus, if the rail weapons get an effective range reduction to compensate. I guess I would also be fine with the reload bonus being bundled with a 3% shield module efficacy or recharge bonus, as long as they also keep a weapon related bonus for hybrid-railgun weapons.
Before you say "don't suggest bonuses for a class you don't use", I have a Caldari assault alt account which I use with rail rifles and will use for testing more Caldari weapon.

The bonuses in general don't balance. If the logi was having survivability issues with the DPS class having DPS bonuses.. Then there should of been tank bonuses added to their suit.
These bonuses purposed are nothing but exact replica's of the bonuses offered to us in Chromosome for the Uprising Launch. And have never made the suit competitive.
That being said the reload bonus that the Caldari Assault's did enjoy through the beginnings of Uprising was extremely strong, and would give them near instant reload with their main weapons paired with Reload skill speed to 5 of the weapon being used.
So much so that CCP had to remove the bonus from the suit, Lower the Skill Multiplier on Reload Weapon skills and reimburse the skill points from the multiplier changes.
The Reload bonus by first glance like in Chromosome theory crafting seems like a disadvantageous one but when everything is up it pretty much eliminates any need to switch weapons as reloading is a faster option. Allowing a lot of people to not even fit a sidearm. |

after usign a commando with lv5 skill and lv5 rapid reload then trust me. its extremely noticable and when you're in the middle of a firefight you're going to have a very good advantage over others. when a gun can do 400dps (given accuracy, resists, skills ect) and you can relaod a second faster than the guy opposite you then that can be the deal breaker.
