DUST Search - Petition: CCP we want kills per weapon monthly stats

Its clear that you have a kills per weapon chart that can be viewed on a monthly basis. As developers you want to know player trends and use this chart, among other things, to see how actually usage of weapons and equipment relates to your expected or desired thresholds. However, I feel that these stats provided to the community will help curtail many "myths" and complaints as they would be able to see what is actually happening and what you intended.

With the aforementioned in mind, I want to petition the community to request the following monthly charts on a monthly basis:

kills per infantry weapon
kills per dropsuit race and type
kills per vehicle
kills per turret type
Average SP trend
SP totals (between all players how much total SP is invested in one skill or another , in the millions of SP)

Each chart must include both your expected thresholds for said attributes and your desired threshold.

I believe if we, the community of dust514, has this information there will be:
1. fewer complaints
2. fewer miss understandings
3. better suggestions

IIRC they said the least kills of any weapon was the officer scrambler pistol and the least kills by anything was the proto Flux Grenade. My curious nature is very, very interested in stats like that. I'm all for this. Good Advice Grey 17 should have stayed missing.

Yes, unfortunately sometimes the few ruin it for the whole. since the expected and desired thresholds will be on the chart as well we will see what CCP really wanted the weapon to do, and see if it is performing how they wanted. for example. chart shows: SMG has more kills than the sniper rifle. however, the expected threshhold for SMGs is higher than the expected threshold for snipers. therefore, there is no problem. -OR- let's say that the chart shows that the SMG kills are keeping in line with the desired threshold for the SMG kills. However, the sniper kills have not reached their expected threshold. This would indicate that their is a problem with the sniper rifle. perhaps it needs a buff... then we look at the SP chart. we now see that their is 5x as much SP invested in SMGs than in snipers. indicating people aren't skilling into snipers. end of example. using these charts we can see trends and through analysis form our theories. ... Like any feedback/score, it increases player interest in the mechanics/scores. KDR-whoring is in part a byproduct of publication and ranking of KDR, for example. I'm aware stats can be "misused" by the public to some degree, but I feel that's often a result of a lack of context. If they only published that 20% of kills were by Sniper Rifles and 20% were by Rail Rifles, then we might come away with the impression that the two were roughly equal. However, if we further discovered that 95% of the Sniper kills were with Proto Rifles at Proficiency 3 or higher, and the Rail Rifle kills were 70% at STD level... it paints a different picture of how the rifles were used. CCP has a full range of stats at their disposal, and there's some limitations with being able to interpret a more limited data set on our end (inability to account for mediating/moderating variables). Any measure of central tendency rarely tells the whole story, and the Dust forum-goers love their pitchforks and tears. I think "ideally" an SDE or API hook that could give us looks into a larger proportion of data would enable a better degree of analysis of in-game statistics with more sophisticated techniques (ANOVA, MANOVA, multiple regression, etc.in SPSS, SAS, etc.). Dren and Templar equipment stats, wrong since release.
