No I won't run around in starter fits so stop asking.
As some of you may know, I've recently had a change of playstyle in the sense that I try as best I can be bothered to, to stay in small groups, 2 or 3 to lessen the burden of the huge stomped masses.
So I had an epiffany moment just now. How about I use those leftover 3-4 emty spots and fill up the squad with players that are tired of always being put on the poor team that normally gets stomped by 12 dudes in full proto gear.
So I've made a chat channel called "Babar is a saint", which is open for anyone to join. When I start to play I'll check in on that channel and pick up 2-4 dudes dependant on the general situation. From that channel its also easy to message me and I'll do my best to get you in squad.
This way you'll have some hard core experienced players on your squad to help you out, cover your ass and generally give a few pointers in how to improve your game. I can offer:
- A friendly and relaxed environment, though we are quite competitive and expect you to give it your best. - The sharing of our experience. - Tips on fittings, weapons and basically everything. - You can learn how to communicate better and move as a co-ordinated unit. - And perhaps we can even help improve your gungame?
The things I won't accept is: - People without mics. - People that want to redline snipe, camp on rooftops etc. We play the objectives and we play to win.
I'm mostly on during EU primetime and play late AKA US primetime often on fridays and saturdays when I'm not out rambling. I'll link this thread on our corp forums and see if more of us are interrested in doing this.
So join up today, I welcome anyone in need of a helping hand. +1 for lols and cos I thought it was only us Brits that went rambling. |

Excellent idea, might even add the channel and help out a bit.
Been playing solo a lot lately as a change of pace and the general skill and knowledge level among the average player is abysmal at best. It really becomes more apparent when you aren't isolated in six man groups that don't need much outside support.
I'm tired of players complaining about getting stomped and expecting the stompers to handicap themselves just to have a remotely enjoyable fight. Even in the case of a squad of all proto players, playing against a team of competent STD/ADV players can still be rewarding for both. It's like playing Street Fighter against your 6 year old sibling, you're expected to hold back just so that there is an illusion of competition, playing to the best of your ability results in an unenjoyable experience for both players and holding back makes the experience boring for you. Yeah it can be fun to a point, but it can't compare to two players competing to the best of their ability. Even if one is particularly better and almost always wins, it is still much more enjoyable when both sides have at least enough knowledge and skill to create competition. Ultimately, more enjoyment for both sides comes from educating the inexperienced player, not limiting the experienced one. |

Without wanting to inflate King's ego, but as a longtime proto-stompee not only do I think this is a good idea, but when facing a corp like yours, I'm more likely to be frustrated with my own blues.
Unless we've been red lined with multiple tanks, ADS, and snipers/RRs. In which case I pretty much take some Valium and calmly bend over I.e die repeatedly trying to get on some uplink action.
You probably don't know me. But next time you get gunned down or exploded by a Valor scout...check the name.

Is it better for only one side to have fun or for both? The answer should be obvious, and that answer leads us to a solution of education, not limitation. |

They have a right to there gear and use it. The unfortunate get pounded with it. And all people say is 'GET GUD SCRUB' or they limit themselves. Which isn't fair to them cause they cant use what they earned, and the infortunets don't get a fair fight cause your holding back. So... you hold back we never adapt, we don't adapt and complain or all your adapting gets crushed and we complain, its a lose/lose for everyone.

Nothing has changed or will change I speak on behalf of myself and a couple of dudes in my corp, not the entire Rainbow Effect. I too play in full squads from time to time, its sometimes hard to leave people out so they have to go solo, and then the next dude comes along.... And believe it or not, I'm actually trying to do something good here and try to improve the gaming experience for some players. So please, pretty please with sugar on top, keep your customary snot-nosed QQ out of this thread. Thank you. Trying to improve the gaming experience for some players after you have wrecked it by nonstop proto stomping for the past 6months Yea good luck with that Thank you. And to be fair, I've been using proto since launch so its more than 6 months... Will you and your experienced players in Redstar follow and help out? you're very welcome, I can't teach much when it comes to tanking... well I may not be as good as you but I've been here since before codex. But I do always have open squads and do help out with new players. ive never ran into RE before do you all play fw or normal skirmish

So for reference I just dropped in a match against King (he went 16/4 and I know 3 of those deaths were mine ^_^ ) - not redlined but close.
I played pure Valor scout , went 14/5, second on my team and almost as many kills as the other nine had in total. I am competent FPSer, but really I'm average - Im just a very underhanded scout.
King, I'll doubt you even remember me or this match cause you're probably in another right now anyway, but in all seriousness - what could we have done better from your perspective? I saw a lot MLT heavies on my side towards the end but In all the action that was the only thing I noticed - at the very least I can say my blues were trying and not giving up on this.
Hope you were proud of us anyway :-)

you know bro im all for helping out noobs and stomping for kills
but
those who stomp in proto gear continueuosly are obviously compensating for something
and if you legitmatley want to help new players dont be a duche an use solely proto gear
use a mix of std /adv gear since with your superiour gun game you can compensate for lack of the gears power
the biggest complaint of newr players is prottostomping.yes ok we have established that but when you use only proto stomp you are only being a hypocrite and to say you want to help people is laughable b/c what you descibe is like saving the royal family and letting the peasents be burned by an invadeing army
if you legitamitely care for the wellbeing of dust pub matches be the change that you wish to see and only pull out your proto gear to fight other protostompers otherwise its only overkill and were is the fun in that
besides my most intense matches have been played with std hmg std sentinle suit and adv modules so if you legitimatly want to help noobies do your channel thing but dont be a hypocrite
also as a sidenote your chat hannels name is pretensious and foolish. you should honestly think about useing a diferent name for it i wouldnt join a channel run by some1 i thought was so conceded to call themselvs a saint
ps in all honesty i belive the only reason you are doing this channel escapade is to further your corp for profit and members
i see right through you but in the end i suppose it might help a few noobs
i look forward to melting your protostomping face with my HMG then forgeing your sqd

It wasn't hard to notice you dude. You killed me while I hacked Bravo, then immediately after with an RE when I came back and a litle later you took me out again with the Shotty, GG indeed!
Your score was far better than anyone else's on your team. But most importantly, you kept fighting, you did all you could to affect the outcome, that shows a bit of character.
And for the record: I actually dropped squad at the end of that battle telling everyone that 6 of us is way too many, the games just gets boring, well not the first half of it!

If you're really serious about helping the new players then why not run ADV/STD gear in public matches? Your passive skills and playing experience will still give you the upper hand and the game may be a little more challenging and fun for you.
I'm asking this question seriously. Are you afraid your KDR will go down a little or do you just like stomping?
It's like you're driving a Porche and racing dudes in Pintos. No matter how much you tell your friends you're a better driver than the other guy no one will believe you.

@ Turtle & Duke
"Babar is a saint" is obviously a silly name meant as a joke. I will keep it cause if a player can't get over a name like that, a trivial matter, then there's a lack of dedication IMO.
About the proto vs anhanced suits. The fundamental LOLsy ugliness of the truth is that there really isn't that much of a difference in performance between my 230 K suit and my 35 K suit. Then you guys say "if there isn't any difference then why not use the cheap suit?" and I'll say "There really isn't that much difference so I'll just stick with my protosuit cause I have more toys on it and I can better support my teammates with those toys", and the circle is complete.
And I can flip it around and complain about fattys with rail rifle, with twice my HP and the same offensive capabilities shouldn't I in theory be just as mad about those people that you seem to be with me? Its more or less the same scenario.
But granted, I'll test buy some enhanced assault suits and play with those for awhile, I'm not prepared to downgrade my logi suit and lose those fancy toys though, fancy toys is the reasn I specced into logi to begin with.
And for the record, a suit cost of 35 115 isk, is that low enough for you or should I go even further down?
