That just sounds like generic copy-paste from EVE. We don't have licensees for Dust, but EVE accounts do.
All software has a license unless it is in the public domain. It's just that the license for DUST is free.
devonus durga wrote:Hmmm... anyone else feel this is a bad sign? I mean its open to interpretation till it gets clarified, but reading the whole must license for each account thing... idk why need to license a game to each individual account for a free game, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, they gonna make us pay?
Or is it a licensing issue with public gaming locations, like the old computer cafes. Not a huge problem in the us but maybe over seas? Don't read too much in to it. Software licenses have to specify the number of users/accounts/whatever they are licensing. CCP just went the safe route and picked one to prevent any sort of shenanigans.
I'm only guessing of course but I don't think CCP is going to try and enforce this and is just done to dot the i's and cross the t's.

In this case I'd like some answers. There's no license for Dust, therefore how does this rule apply? Or perhaps it technically does have one, but then how could I get multiple licenses on the same console? My friends don't have ps3s so I am taking care of their accounts until they purchase the consoles. I log onto their chars every day for the SP bonus and I play on one of them from time to time. Will I get penalized for this? Should I stop? I need to know before I get a few accounts banned I find this rule a pile of crap. What if somebody's actually sharing a console with a partner, friend or a flatmate? |

Because eve players pay real money for their accounts, means they have invested real money and time for whatever their account/toon has. We theoreticly only have to invest time. Time is money.

Perhaps they are preparing for the eventuality of character farms in the event that DUST becomes popular some day?
You could build a pretty big operation with next to no personnel cost because you don't need active SP. Just "plant" a few thousand characters and let them grow with passive for a few years before harvesting them. It's just like a tree farm. |

EULA wrote: Upon establishing a valid Account, and subject to your continued compliance with the EULA, CCP grants you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to access the System, and to access and use the Game Content, User Content and EVE User Content (each as defined below), in order to play DUST 514. You may download and exchange Game Content, User Content and EVE User Content exclusively via a valid Account, solely to play the Game, for purposes permitted by, and in a manner consistent with, the EULA. Additionally and to the extent permitted by the System, you may make a single copy for your own purposes in playing the Game.
It said one account per license, not one account per system.

Is there an easier way of doing this? Is what I just described only an over complicated process?

Also you have to sign it to download the game. And if you played after the recent update, then you already signed it.

Why does this sound like chicken little.I dont think CCP is gonna get rid of alts.If anyone is scared then the people that have not spent one wooden nickle on the game should be afraid other than that if you've spent anything on a account they wont delete it.
Also this bs about selling accounts for real cash is stupid as hell.If a person did sit on thousands of accounts which is impossible because the PS3 only lets you have 6.SO that's dumb you'd have to buy 150 plus PS#'s and this game or its characters would not make back that investment.
Hypothetically well say you have some old BPO"S on this alt. That this person is trying to sell. Who cares? You only have one that can passive sp gain the others just sit there doing nothing. So we'll say it has 20 million sp.Again who cares. There'll be new content by then .
I dont worry about the EULA I got sucked into this BS last time when people started freaking out about BPO removal and the only thing I really got out of that is.Some people want to make money off something somebody else created. You see Im not on that ****.It's those types of assholes that make these EULA"S necessary
If a person's intent is to make a buck off someone's work then you should be scared.Because its criminal. Its called piracy and plagiarism. If you bought anything for this game I dont see CCP taking anything from you so stop with the fucken agnst.

afaik that's been there all the time - unlikely that it would be enforced unless you use your accounts to abuse the system. so ccp would be covered if they at some point decide to ban your 1000 passive sp earning accounts.

Now, I wonder which one of us is the more intelligent......
