We currenttly have two, one av, one infantry the loyalty store only has the HMG and there isnt even a specialist variant ccp you develope more light weapons and side arms where are the heavy weapons?

At the bare minimum we should have 8 heavy weapons, 4 AV and 4 AI (anti-infantry).
So 6 more to go CCP. We don't need them all to be released at the same time, that is an unreasonable demand, but show us that you are making progress.

I think the Laser Heavy weapons will provide the best use in mid-range fights, right between the HMG (short range) and the FG (long range): it could have some major effect on HAV shields, but I doubt CCP will ever add a proper MPW/APW (multi-purpose weapon / all-purpose weapon) in game.
An AV kinecit weapon is beyond my wildest imagination, I'd rather think about a rocket-launcher which works somewhat like the FG but instead of firing an electomagnetic shot, it launches long-range HEAT warheads: since there is no target locking, you can use this weapon against the infantry as well, but it wouldn't be its designated use. As for the Heavy plasma weapon, I'm thinking about a sort-of flamethrower, which doesn't generates flames (as if using petrol), but genetaing clouds of extremely hot plasma: while its range would be very short, i.e. 10~15 m., it would basically melt everything. Extremely useful in protecting small passages.

Have it be a single shot that does devastating damage, but you receive massive feedback damage for firing it, or just like the AI one be a constant beam but with more feedback damage as you hold it longer, basically just burning you alive the longer you have it running

If its av oriented it should have to lock on like swarms so we dont have to worry about it being op against infantry, itd be nice to just get a good av weapon with high dmg and a weapon for infantry to melt faces from a distance to broaden the heavies horizen. Currently range options are forge or pick a light weapon If we had more heavy weapons with a wider variety of ranges the forge could get a lock on and a dmg buff
But all these ideas are awesome , keep fighting for heavy kind

I would like to continue to State my personall Favorite idea, A Plasma Mortar cannon, with a large blast radius(like maybe 10m at most), but has its ranged limited between 25m and 150m (This is to prevent redline usage as well as forcing you to have a weakness of enemies closing in), It would be a very powerful direct hit (Probably slightly under a forge) with a high splash damage (Near center 700, Halfway out 300, edge of blast 100), it would only be 1 shot at a time, with a slightly longer reload then a plasma cannon, It would require you to charge up the shot (The charge bar would show distance being fired, As you charge longer the distance the mortar is fired is increased til at max range), however im not sure how it would fire the mortar or how it would look in general

I'd like to see heavy infantry weapons and small turret weapons as a single class. The heavy with the HMG is obviously influenced by Rambo with his M60 or Jesse Ventura's Minigun in Predator. You know where you would normally see these weapons? On top of vehicles.
It might take some tweaking for balance, and would require a merger of two skill trees, but you'd have Gallente and Caldari anti infantry, as well as Minmitar AV heavy weapons using assets already in the game.
To top this off, being able to mount forge guns on LAVs would make for a relatively cheap, highly mobile AV platform. Dropship mounted forgeguns would be difficult to aim, but with a good pilot and good gunners, would make for the be-all end-all of tank hunters. |

I understand your point but it shouldnt be a problem and really doesnt make alot of sense considering the current hvy hmg does less dmg per bullet than any other full auto weapon , secondly heavies already equip light weapons like the rail rifle to get the range needed to compete in some situations, so you could argue new heavy weapons would stope the heavy suit light weapon spam and wouldnt be any worse, i mean if your point was true everyone would already be in heavy suits using light weapons yhat have high dmg and range,i understand some already do but my point is heavies have literally no other choice, if the only suit you have skilled into is heavy and you need range the heavy has to get a light weapon
so you see new heavy weapons wont cause any problems , it will solve them with more heavy weapons available the slots could be locked to thier name sake rather than light weapons fitting in heavy slots and side arms fitting in light slots

I keep wanting something like a Staff Cannon from SG1 - Large and heavy Plasma weapon that fires a powerful Plasma discharge in a linear path. Basically a Plasma version of the Forge Gun, only more aimed at being an anti-personnel weapon rather than an AV weapon.

8 follows the patterns set by EVE. Each race would have 2 versions of its racial weapon. A relatively short range, low alpha, high RoF weapon and a relatively long range, high alpha, low RoF weapon.
Amarr - Energy - Pulse / Beam (In the light weapons category this is filled very nicely by Scrambler/Laser)
Caldari - Missiles - Unguided / Guided (Strong secondary emphasis on Hybrids, specifically Rails)
Gallente - Hybrid - Blaster / Rail (Leans more strongly to Blasters, strong secondary emphasis on Drones (hint: Let's get Drones worked in ASAP.))
Minmatar - Projectile -Autocannon / Artillery
I don't agree that Heavy weapons should necessarily fall into 1 AV and 1 AI weapon for each race. If that's how it falls, so be it.
Right now with the Hybrid bonuses split how they are between Caldari being Rails, and Gallente being 'Plasma', along with almost no representation from Missiles, and the way Weapon Type and Damage Type are connected (i.e. Not like they are in EVE) , following the EVE pattern for Caldari / Gallente racial weapons will be tough.
For example, railgun artwork in EVE is clearly Caldari, and Hybrid Caldari (have generally, until recently, one example being the Moa losing its optimal bonus for a damage bonus) boats get bonuses that clearly synergize with rails. However, that Hybrid bonus would also work with Blaster turrets. A little more than half the Caldari ship line, however, is focused on missiles, and a little less than half is focused on Hybrids. Likewise, about half of the Gallente ship line is focused on Hybrids, while the other half is focused on Drones.
Basically, DUST needs to be as much like EVE as possible in an FPS setting.
