Perhaps only allow it to be fired in short bursts before overheating?
Have it be a single shot that does devastating damage, but you receive massive feedback damage for firing it, or just like the AI one be a constant beam but with more feedback damage as you hold it longer, basically just burning you alive the longer you have it running

But all these ideas are awesome , keep fighting for heavy kind I agree, my laser cannon idea should only charge up while locked on to a vehicle and vehicle has to stay within certain radius of the sights

I would like to continue to State my personall Favorite idea, A Plasma Mortar cannon, with a large blast radius(like maybe 10m at most), but has its ranged limited between 25m and 150m (This is to prevent redline usage as well as forcing you to have a weakness of enemies closing in), It would be a very powerful direct hit (Probably slightly under a forge) with a high splash damage (Near center 700, Halfway out 300, edge of blast 100), it would only be 1 shot at a time, with a slightly longer reload then a plasma cannon, It would require you to charge up the shot (The charge bar would show distance being fired, As you charge longer the distance the mortar is fired is increased til at max range), however im not sure how it would fire the mortar or how it would look in general
