The problem is not the action itself, but how easy the action is to perform.
Imagince fighting a "boss" in a game, where he is invincible for short periods of time (many "boss fights" in video games have these kinds of fights as well).
Now after he is invincible, that is when you are supposed to attack right?
But what if he was all the way on the other side of the "stage" when his invincibility "timer" depleted?
There would be almost no way to destroy the "boss."
There is no problem with a pilot running away to save himself, but he should actually have to plan ahead and use some form of effort to do so.
Respecs need to happen in 1.8.

Most Dust 514 builds you have the OPTION of using AV or letting others kill it. Build 1.7 FORCED folks to use AV or be facerolled by tanks.
But theres a better option for patch 1.7

As for triple hardener builds, they are easy to suppress with a maxed proto forge. It's just that in pubs, one guy in every five teams has one of these. If your Forge does 2000 damage it'll do 720 damage after resistance and efficacy. This is enough to drop the shields in one clip. Until you are 60 seconds into the cycle, however, you can double harden with ENH. After this you are forced to only use single hardeners. CMP are complicated but have opportunities to double harden during the cycle at different points and you only need to wait 15 seconds maximum to double harden when one of your hardeners drops if you don't resume.
