I'll agree with this after the new commandos come out (1.8). I think it's stupid that wielding light weapons is a commandos speciality and they even give up armor to do so,while regular heavies who have sacrificed nothing can do so. It's like other suit classes wanting more equipment slots to compete with a logi,a specialised eq suit, its not fair because logis have to sacrifice a sidearm. So "it's not the fat suit it's the weapon" is a lie it's BOTH.

Do you still really not get this? Commando's get 2 light weapons, not one and a sidearm, two. That's their advantage, they get ultimate versatility, and can make some of the most well-rounded specialized suits (such as a sniper or swarm launcher user). They're designed for second wave/suppression tactics. And as I said before (yet strangely no one seemed to respond), this would also mean making it so light weapon slots can't be filled with sidearms. And has been said, yes, a heavy suit gets more HP than a medium suit. The tradeoff is severely limited mobility, less module slots, and no equipment, while getting the plus of being able to wield heavy weapons. They're very well balanced against the other suits presently; if you can't beat one ever at all, maybe you really just do need to change up your tactics a bit.

Sgt Buttscratch wrote:As for the RR, its not just the RR, people are trying to distort my post, re directing it to their issue, i don't care what AR varient it is, it cheap, bull **** and removes all tactic game, heavies can't fight at range if their light weapons were removed due to HMG's range, is this not by design? heavy should be able to have close quarter, choke point, medium range and longe range? Rather than accepting they chose a role which limits parts of the game, but they excel in other parts... The whole issue is, trying to balance classes versus each other will remain broken, until classes become defined. Giving every one the same fire power but letting others have 100's more HP whilst doing so is broken logic, clearly.
I'm afraid you're mistaken. Your argument is entirely based on the HMG, which is not the only heavy weapon. The FG has far greater range, despite not being the greatest at anti-infantry. When the laser heavy weapon comes out, it'll have at least moderate range, and your argument will really have zero merit.

I hate giving this manner of nincompoopery the time of day any more than I have already, but here we go:
The reason heavies can use light and sidearm weapons in their heavy weapon slot is because the requirements to use these weapons are quite simple - hands. So why can't the other suits use heavy weapons in their light slots, you're about to cry? Because the heavy suit was designed to augment the user's own capabilities further than the other suits allowing someone using said suit to carry heavier gear while still being able to, you know, walk.
And walk we do, cryhards - we walk around at the speed of smell, whether we're using an HMG, an AR, or nova knives in our H slot, because the sentinel suit was designed specifically for the carrying of ridiculously heavy weapons that otherwise would be mounted on a vehicle - seriously, it says so right in the descriptions for them - so technically a sentinel using a light weapon is gimping himself. While that's not the case atm because of OP light weapons, that's also not the fault of the heavy suit.
As for heavies with light weapons encroaching on the territory of commandos? MEH. Logis with over 1,000hp encroach on our territory just as much - Sentinels are supposed to be the most armored suits, yet logis can do our job better than we can given the OP state of RR (and CR to a lesser extent) right now (especially if we're talking about a sentinel using a light weapon), and yet sentinels can't carry 2 light weapons even if we're not using a heavy weapon, we move slower, and our punches don't hit like a train wreck. Oh, and just in case everyone forgot, we don't get any equipment either.
It really sounds like you're whining because a heavy with an RR beat you at range OP, or worse, you were using an RR as well and couldn't beat the heavy because of the hp difference, despite the fact that hitting a heavy in the head is about as easy as throwing a rock into the ocean and hitting water, and people in lighter frames have a decided mobility advantage. You do realize you can disengage from a firefight, right? Zerging in front of the enemy's rifle barrel is not the only tactic, even though it's about the only one Dusters seem to use these days. |

@ Commandos having 2 weapons = Advaantage. In dust the TTK makes the second weapon a spectator. Yes they can do some specialist jobs, My medium and scout can use a swarmer, switch out and use a sniper. Not really all that special. Now if it was a way for a heavy fram to use light weapons it would be a speciality class.
@ Speed penalty, for my assault class to even stand a chance versus a light weilding heavy or a heavy HP logi, I need to tank up too, speed doesn't help when the game not only helps you aim, but allows bullets to hit just because when you shot they were on target, negating how fast I was running, they land.
@ Heavy gimping himself by using lights....**** off. flat out bullshit.
@ whatever the **** this was meant to be---- "It really sounds like you're whining because a heavy with an RR beat you at range OP, or worse, you were using an RR as well and couldn't beat the heavy because of the hp difference, despite the fact that hitting a heavy in the head is about as easy as throwing a rock into the ocean and hitting water, and people in lighter frames have a decided mobility advantage. " No most the time i beat these guys because they have NO GUNGAME and are using the suit as a CRUTCH, to try shark players with 500-1000 less HP, I have great aim and understand my character. They reason behind this post is that the use of heavies as assaults is pathetic, ruins true gunfights, by removing the need for tactics, why breach an area as a team when one guy can have the sum total of 2 of players health. Also I don't use the RR, don't like it, dont really like the CR either.

You guys seriously want to limit heavy suits to 2 weapons?!

The size of hitboxes and speed are completley bypassed for the most by aim assist, It allows bullets that visually miss, to hit, just beacause its poor poor design. The limit on weapons is an issue, but the use of light weapons shouldn't be a fix, CCP like this mentalit aswell, they don't have to worry about adding them, heavies are happy being assault, as are the logis.

I am a heavy and i completely agree, the same should go fo all slots. The only problem is we only have one av weapon and one weapon for infantry, so there is clearly a need for more heavy weapons, more funny but off subject one of our only two, the forge, isnt even in the loyalty store and he hmg doesnt have a specialist variant , shed a tear for your fat friends who need a weapon wih range, not everyone has the sp to skill into another suit to hold their light weapon in a mission for variety or range, and please dont say use the forge for range infantry kills , either forge infantry from cowards distance or die charging it withiin rifle range , excluding feats of skill and luck or the lack of both in the opponent

The heavy frame should be a Heavy weapon specialist ONLY, if they wish to run the light weapons then they need to skill into commando. This should be the main point that defines a commando apart from other heavy frames.
Sry if this was said already but if the heavy slot was restricted to JUST heavy weapons then the Light slot would have to be restricted to JUST light weapons. We both know that isn't going to be received well.
The heavy slot allows you to use everything up to heavy weapons just like the light slot allows everything up to light weapons and I think that's fair.

I agree with you as a Heavy/Commando. I personally dived into the commando when it first came out because i hated wasting my actual heavy using a Light weapon, and honestly mostly run Commando right now because of its versatility on the battlefield and its ability to pretty much do anything you fit it to do. As Much as i dislike Hybrid heavies, i also agree with the fact that until we get more Anti-personel Heavy weapons, It is pretty fair to let heavies run Light weapons. And I am a forge sniper, and with the servers having lag at times and that it takes more practice then its worth, I wouldn't try to tell people to use a Forge against people.
