Lets push for daily contracts. I made this toon and right away there was some goals to be achieved. Make a drop suit, join a match buy a skill... they offered some militia gear. Its a great idea, why not offer such things to everyone?
Its kind of a rip off from Black Ops, but I don't think anyone would care. We could have section in the battle finder where we could choose from a selection of contracts and gain rewards for completing them. CCP seems to be able to track our stats easily. In stead of devising lack luster events that everyone hates, we could purchase the contracts that apply to our play styles.
Example: For 23000 isk you could purchas a contract to destroy 15 Gunnlogi and receive 10 Grimlock FGs. or 14000 isk you could buy the Cap or recap 5 null cannons and receive 1000SP contract.
With the lack of PvE this would help with the monotony that dust has become. It could serve as a tutorial for new mercenaries by creating training contracts. Veterans could accept elite contracts. As long as the risk matched the reward I believe it would make this game better.
Another type of contract I had thought of was progressive contracts. All who purchase these super elite contracts(all kinds of hoops to jump thru) would also receive the isk already paid to purchase the contract plus some of the loot lost trying to achieve it.
Yeah I'm bored. Any thoughts? |

That is honestly a great idea.Put it in the request thread, that way the DEVs will actually see it. You could take it a step further and do corp wide contracts too, that way the corp could make isk, the merc could make skill and isk, the monotony is killed and there is further depth to the game. Great Idea.

I would like to discuss and refine it a bit more before CCP sees it. Also if anyone had ideas for contracts they could add those too. Do you think you would buy contracts if the rewards were good enough? |

The possibilities would be limitless. It could be the first step to bounties down the road. Purchase a Bounty then a field comes up: Insert Player Name Here. new field: Insert ISK amount. Now any merc can accept said bounty. You might want to put a limit on the kills or you could go broke.
Just ideas to kick around. |

Yeah I'm bored. Any thoughts? It's actually a mechanic that most other MMOs have, Daily quests. FFXIV, Guild Wars 2, WoW, SWTOR all have daily quests and WoW practically invented them.

Not only is this a good idea but it would give you a feeling of accomplishing something each day you play. Further more the "Daily Quests" could be tied to the factions for a small amount of standing/Loyalty points/ factional gear, or to the EVE npc corps for isk/gear rewards |

I strongly approve of this idea. I would also encourage you to write some contracts for the Big Shot Bounty Board as a means to test various challenge paradigms for new and veteran players and cross promote the idea of contracts to CCP devs.

I downloaded the free trial for Eve the other day and had a play around. The one thing i liked that Dust doesn't have, was the more in-depth tutorial that Aura gives you, followed by the Career Agent contracts which teach you the basics of any given role while rewarding you for it.
Adding that to Dust in the form of conditional contracts that could be performed while playing any old mission would be great!
What roles/careers do we currently have? *Light (Scout) *Medium (Logi/Assault) *Heavy (Commando/Sentinel) *Pilot (LAV/HAV/DS) Plus any number of sub-roles....
I honestly don't know a thing about programming, but seeing as we already get 3? Aura tutorial missions at the start of the game, surely it wouldn't be too much work to just expand what she already offers? Maybe add in some Merc NPCs for the more specialized stuff based around roles that can be fulfilled with Militia Gear?
Seriously liking this idea Op. :)
Edit: Would it be possible to have tip info come up while in-mission? Say for instance you took a Scout contract from a Scout Career Agent, and at regular periods during play, the Agent would "contact" you with hints on infiltration and whatnot, which would be recapped after the mission. |

I think this is a great idea. I think posted something like is in a smiliar thread tonight? I think that we should have more going on. Those ideas are great. Another idea I had was at least once a month we have special contracts with a new map. A map we'll never see again. That's basically what I posted in the other thread with a little more. I know CCP says making maps is soooo difficult for them. That's not true. All they have to do is switch the compounds and barrels and other things around so that it becomes a new map.
Easier than that though I could come up with a bunch of different events that are similar to OP. Kill down fourteen scouts with a sub machine gun. Destroy eight uplinks/nanohives with melee. Cap all the letters yourself. In Gotham City Imposters there was a trophy you could earn every round, called Golden Hourglass. It was awarded for killing every member on the enemy team at least once

One of the downsides of console gaming.... "Back in the day", to many of my friends, making maps for the FPS games they played was an integral part of the experience. I even had a go at it myself..... Hell, a good friend of mine even got several of his maps officially published for UT and QT.
If there was a way to allow the players to make custom maps, new maps would be a dime a dozen.
Edit: With CCP's approval of course! |

I did a thread similar to this, it was a training/ try before you buy room. This could really help straggling newbies(like me, I've only been here a little over a month and have 1.7 mil sp) stack sp without having to face those mother f*cking proto stompers. Newbies could also explore roles and receive tips from their contractor as stated by fellow comrades.

With a little luck blueberries trying to fulfill their contracts would become more useful. Once they get used to having a purpose in battle they could purchase tougher contracts and get better rewards. At some point down the line EVE capsuleers could make and distribute contracts and rewards. Possibly even deliver a deadly payload of mercs to fulfill contracts they themselves have posted.

I actually made a post just before I quit DUST. Saying why don't we have a player made maps section? If this tedious little job is just too difficult for you then why don't you let us make our own maps with a map editior and have a player made maps section people can game on. The maps can then be voted on. The ones that get the highest votes go into the rotation. They have this in several other FPSs. Farcry 2 and 3. Which are current FPS

I think I remember that. Pretty sure I endorsed that. There should be a firing range so we can try out new guns. Instead of buying ten of them just to see if you want to run with that

It's not just about making the maps; the actual hard part is having the maps pass quality assurance tests, which CCP would have to do themselves whether or not they created the map.
On topic: OP poses an interesting idea, daily or not, would give people something to do. |

Please, no daily contracts. That's something that annoyed the hell out of me when I played GW2 after they added it. It's just a mechanism to try and get players to log in more often and do certain things. How about instead, we let them build a game that we all actually want to log in and play every day because it's fun?
Eve doesn't have daily anything and it's one of the best MMO's on the market because it's fun to play and the community is amazing. |

I have been playing Dust 514 for a year. Its getting old waiting for everything. This is something that could be accomplished relatively quickly. You must not have read the entire thread as it addresses things like tutorials, PvE, EVE integration, and most of all fun. It would be good to have purpose again. Also its not unrealistic to expect contracts being available to the full spectrum of mercenaries. I believe it would add immersion and depth to a game that gets more and more stale with each passing nerf cycle.
