Please, no daily contracts. That's something that annoyed the hell out of me when I played GW2 after they added it. It's just a mechanism to try and get players to log in more often and do certain things. How about instead, we let them build a game that we all actually want to log in and play every day because it's fun?
Eve doesn't have daily anything and it's one of the best MMO's on the market because it's fun to play and the community is amazing. |

Eve doesn't have daily anything and it's one of the best MMO's on the market because it's fun to play and the community is amazing. I have been playing Dust 514 for a year. Its getting old waiting for everything. This is something that could be accomplished relatively quickly. You must not have read the entire thread as it addresses things like tutorials, PvE, EVE integration, and most of all fun. It would be good to have purpose again. Also its not unrealistic to expect contracts being available to the full spectrum of mercenaries. I believe it would add immersion and depth to a game that gets more and more stale with each passing nerf cycle.
Tired waiting after only a year? They're trying to build a game that is beyond the scope of any online FPS currently playing, that's going to take time. And they're trying to have it interconnected to what is widely known as one of the most complicated MMO's to play. Eve has taken 10 years so far and they're still not done with it, they're going to keep working on it, adding things and adjusting things untill it either achieves true sentience or becomes financially unviable for them to continue. A true work of art takes time to complete and I see that dust has the potential to become that if we give CCP the time they need.
I agree tutorials would help a lot for a new player, I'm not sure what the new player experience is at the moment as I haven't created a new character since the beta. But new player experience is something that CCP ha s always been poor at. Eve's is pretty useless at the moment but they're constantly trying to find a way to improve it that fits in with the universe.
PvE would be nice, but I think that there are other things that they need to address first. Things like large scale battles should, in my opinion, come before PvE. Plus again, PvE is something that CCP's not the best at. I'm quite happy not running the same PvE mission over and over again untill I get bored and decide to take a break from the game. Plus, PvE has the potential to break the PvP game quite badly. Imagine all the people who are scared to lose their entire fittings in PvP moving to PvE where the reward to risk ratio becomes skewed way off towards the reward side because the enemy Ai is pretty basic. Which means it gets harder to get a PvP match unless you're in one of the bigger alliances. Again, see eve as the example.
Fun is something that's subjective. I stil lhave fun most of the time when I play Dust, even when I'm being repeatedly killed without taking anyone down because I'm trying to work out which fit to use and where to respawn to counter what the opposing team is doing. But I'm one of theose wierd types of people who enjoy experimenting with fits and learning new things then applying what I've learned to what I'm doing.
Daily contracts would create two types of Dust players, those who complete them religiously and so can get all the rewards and more stocks of the 'best' gear and those who don't have the time to log on every day and complete a laundry list of tasks. I don't want to feel I have to play a certain number of games as a logi so I can get my number of heals for the day, then switch to another class so I can get so many vehicle kills and then switch again so that I can have a certain number of hacks. That's what dailies would feel like to a not unsubstantial number of players.

If you would prefer not to participate you could just not purchase contracts. Its simple. Why shoot down an idea because you personally wouldn't use it? I have ran this by alot of people, believe it or not, most people who play dust don't even visit the forums. The general consensus is people would purchase contracts and try to fulfill them.
I am glad you didn't get all douchy with your feedback. Thanks man
I do see your point, I just think that CCP would be able to come up with something better than daily contracts. I can kind of see how it could work if we had PvE content already, but we don't and I think that PvE content that doesn't seriously impact the PvP core of the game is something that will take time for them to code and implement.
I quite easily believe that most dust players don't visit the forums, I've only been participating here for two days myself and I've been playing since Beta. I do think that's a bit of a shame though, the game could get so much better if a larger percentage of the people playing participated in giving feedback and ideas it would lessen the impact of the truly butt-hurt people who are only interested in improving their personal k/d ratio at the expense of everyone who doesn't agree with them. I've no idea how to manage that though (but removing the 5 minutes in between posting replies would help, it artificially extends how long people have to stay in the forums to make their point)
I'm hoping that you meant your last comment sincerely, it's hard to tell sometimes on the internet, because I do try to be rational and even supply suggestions of how things can be better when I can rather than just be the 'Oh noes, they broke my game and I'm all wah wah wah fix it now to be exactly how I want it even if it's unreasonable' type of person.
Just one minor final point. Not a man, a woman. :)

That could only work if you could guarantee that you'll be on the same map as that player at some point on the opposing team. It could work on eve, but in the 16 V 16 matches on dust the only way it would is to have the system randomly pick a target for you from the opposing team.
Of course if dust moved to being like eve where you could go to any station or planet whenever you wanted rather than have the game assign you a region on a planet as we have now I, for one, think it would be much better. I think that would improve the interconnectivity with eve, make us feel more like we were effecting the galaxy and allow for the larger scale battles and tactical combat that I feel are missing from the game.

tl;dr
Don't be a sour pus man. I despise Daily Contracts in other games but Dust 514 could do it right since you wouldn't need these Daily Contracts to boost your progress. It would be like playing Faction Warfare. It's not needed but you can do it and benefit from it with equipment.
Anyways,
@OP I'm backing your idea! Personally, I'd love if we played with other factions than simply the big four. Like, Black Eagle vs Blood Raiders. Maybe we'd get more ISK or a greater amount of potential SP for the battles? Also, it would be nice if we only got rewards if we won. Make players actually question whether or not they should do said battles. [:o wrote: It would make sense that we don't get EVE side support but would it make sense if we didn't have OBs? I don't care that much about the Warbarge OBs but it would be a unique experience to NOT have them.
I'm actually coming around to the idea a little as I think about it more. I think that CCP are a company that could potentially do it the right way. I don't think that just making it a list of achievements to complete whilst you're playing your Public or FW matches is right for the universe though. But something that works outside of them makes some sense. Especially if they use it for some form of PvE.
I do agree that being able to fight for other factions than just the four empires is a good idea, of course they've not really implemented that in eve yet. Not in PvP anyway. You can run pve missions for the other factions, but thatt's it so far. I get the impression that they're working on either phasing out the empires or at least drastically reducing their impact on the galaxy as a whole. That's a long term kind of thing though.
