Unless your trying to nab that Jihad Jeep, you can easily rotate the tank instead of the turret.
9k Armor is impressive, but still unnessesary when you can already achieve 15k eHP.

What I'm saying is that besides Missile Turrets you must regret actually spending SP knowing that a MLT vehicle can do it just as well, while being virtually ISK/SP cost free.

Not at all.
This game is always in a state of flux, and the stats as they are now will not always be so.
I enjoy tanking, and the boon that MLT tankers have right now won't last. When the music stops, there I'll be with fully maxed out skills, rocking and rolling.
When tanks get nerfed, those SP are going to be very needed.

I'm obviously an utter ******* moron putting SP into Assault Dropships, when I should just be redline sniping with triple-Damage Mod Sicas.
The sad part is this is exactly how the game is right now. Investing SP in vehicles just means you're losing even more ISK when a 100k or lower vehicle tears you to pieces before you can even retaliate.

Well, theres still big reasons to have SP, its mostly the cooldown times making you much safer, especially using cycled shield hardeners or armor hardeners against AV. Of course cycled hardeners can't protect against damage modded railguns, but still they remove any and all chance of you being killed by AV as long as you don't have down syndrome.
Other than that, having the extra slot for tanks is great and having the proto turrets puts you far above MLT tanks.
But generally, yes, the reward for using a 500k isk tank is usually pointless compared to a 70k isk MLT tank w/ a blaster.
Its pretty much best to use Somas with scanners and blasters vs infantry since you're vulnerable to railguns while killing infantry anyways, so the 70k isk tank is preferred.
While if you're hunting tanks a triple damage mod or double damage mod 1 hardener gunnlogi particle cannon is preferred, since you'll be aware of and looking for tanks, meaning the risk is lower while the extra damage from the SP & isk of your real tank makes it MUCH easier then.

It's the Railguns that are the real problem. but nerfing them removes the only reliable counter against HAVs with cycled hardeners.

However, that doesn't mean that vehicles with SP invested aren't overpowered either; in fact the shorter cooldowns and longer duration makes them even worse than the MLT vehicles.
Not that cooldown really means anything when everyone and their dogs just recall before the cooldown timer expires

But they also cost more, far more in fact. plus, once the active modules go down, they're useless. and alpha damage makes sure of that. IAFG's still destray Maddy's, I can report on that, not from the receiving end, but the giving end. You know how I feel about Wiki swarms. And I've seen people use adv. AV to easily kill HAV's, with said people saying that PROTO is too much still (really, the only reason why I use PROTO is faster killing time, and that helps with killing then repositing to kill the next 3 before that one returns). so no, having them have different active times and cooldowns does jack ****. What does is the fact that they all have the same damn percentage for active ones, and tat needs to change. CAll me an elitest all you like, I could give 0 fucks. Still needs to change. So yes, it actually does.

For rails, STD are much better, especially with an ADV rail or higher. Glass cannon Sica can 3HKO armor, I can 2HKO armor and extended shield tanks. With a Particle Cannon, you can hit the same DPS with one amp as a Sica with two and end up with two extra slots to defend yourself or stack more damage. Blaster Madrugars are much more durable than blaster Somas, which almost always have a repper and hardener, leaving them with little overall tank in TvT. Blaster Gunnlogis can cycle forever or use the 3rd slot for a booster/extender to negate preempts and tank through Forge Guns. It's not all bad. The price scales poorly but there are benefits.

I agree that there should always be actual skill involved in addition to SP. I think 1.6 had a good balance between SP investment and actual player skill. Now in 1.7, there's almost no SP investment and player skill is laughable. Everyone can just get a Sica with militia railgun, damage mod, and shield hardener and charge at an enemy tank while holding R1 after having activated the modules. There's absolutely no skill involved, and if you lose, it only sets you back about 70k ISK.
Countering such a tank requires too much skill and effort in comparison. You have to create an ambush plan, avoid detection, and strike when modules are off or on cooldown, and possibly even having to have a squad member to provide the enemy tank's position constantly or to scan it down with a scanner. And when that's done, you've only destroyed 70k ISK that will more than likely be called in again to bite you in the ***.
I enjoy the challenge of facing a railgun Soma with my missile Gunnlogi, and maybe even railgun Madrugars (I've barely managed to destroy them many times as I am put into armor and making a dash for my redline), but railgun Sicas require too much effort, comparatively, to bring down because they only have to pop their hardener and I can no longer kill them with one volley. And railgun Gunnlogis are just a nightmare because of the fact that they are too good at CQC for what is meant to be a ranged weapon, and the effort required to outmaneuver them is just too much when compared to what they have to do: charge headfirst and hold R1.
