So we asked CCP Saberwing last night in IRC:
GÇ£So 1.8 is mid-February to mid-march?GÇ¥
He replied with:
GÇ£That's the current plan. But we're not sure yet.GÇ¥
I can see that 1.8 is going to be a massive content release and requires a lot of work. Could we see something like a 1.7.1 patch?
I don't want to see any new content for this but it would be nice for you guys to have a bash at:- The new bugs that came out of 1.7,
- Glitches and exploits that still haven't been fixed,
- An improvement to the matchmaking system,
- Added optimizations,
- Lag issues.
Whats your say on the matter people; leave them alone until 1.8 is released?
What would you like to be fixed in a possible 1.7.1 patch?
Please do not request new items or changes as these are coming SOONGäó with 1.8

Patches cost money to get approved by Sony, also includes a lot of additional work. Mid-February isn't that far off. Mid-March would kind of be rough. I think we can hold on until 1.8
Some things you mentioned could probably be hotfixed.

I think a hotfix is overdue if what you say is indeed true... I don't mind waiting until early February, but if it's pushed back to March, they definitely need to do some hotfixes - and the list you propose is quite complete... it wouldn't include any new "content" per se, but would balance gameplay, and remove bugs and glitches... |

Maybe a hotfix on the SL lock range, up to 350m (450 previously, 175 now)
But I really don't care, I stay indoors these days keeping my objective from you filthy little reds.
The game is currently pretty smooth, so I could go without anything for a month or two while I accrue some SP.

Maybe they should switch to a 3 month dev process perminatly instead of the 1 month. It would probialy promote better releases with less bugs and far more content. |

This update is too important for CCP to get things wrong. It sucks waiting, but I would much rather they get this one right than push something unfinished out too quickly because of some arbitrary and artificial deadline.

Well they shouldn't have first said they were going to release patches in monthly installments at fanfest or when they came out and said 1.8 would be pushed back to february release, they should have just said february/march....

Pushing even a small patch now would push back the next major release. No need.
Note that CCP Rouge is now in da house and is rumored to have thrown out the existing DUST patch cycle manual. We may not see monthly updates going forward.

They really should do a better job keeping us updated though. That was what was the best part about the last "dev plan". They had weekly blogs to hype us about the next or future patches. And we could anticipate updates at the eom. I wouldnt mind bigger waits with bigger updates if they were still open about when/what was coming. |

Grinding 2 more months and mybe then we get something new, ..... Back to grinding SP to use it on something that might come in the future .... Or it could get delayed and we get it after fanfest.... or you never now CCP might surprice us. |
