I'm relying on my sidearm to help finish off enemies when my shotgun fails me, but two equipment slots would finally allow me to use the combos I used in Chromosome again(Uplinks and remotes, ooooohhhhhh), not to mention a cloak and remote combination will be really awesome.
I'm really conflicted about this
But I'm leaning more towards this being a bad idea, because having no sidearm would limit our effectiveness even more than the two equipment slots can compensate, and we are still going to be having one equipment slot only because you're just gimping yourself if you're using cloaks.

I am halfway fine with this change also I don't think the siedearm restriction is needed as the scout is already weak enough but hey may be we get back a H/L slot aswell...(nothing confirmed or denied by CCP in that regard) |

I doubt this is happening to all the scout suits. Most likely either the Caldari or Amarr scout is going to be the old type-2.
Even CCP wouldn't make a scout suit with a bonus to knives with only one weapon slot.... I think?

How is the loss of a side arm going to effect people who use Nova Knifes? Are you telling me they have to pick between a proper weapon or those dinky knives?
I am on the fence about this. Additional slots of equipment is great but at the cost of anything especially a side arm? I dont think that is very fair.
We will see how this pans out. I am just glad I dont have to worry about any of that on this character - being in a noob suit in a big heavy noisy tank. |

I would have to guess that base stats and slot layouts are getting adjusted. Logi's simply have too much room right now even with a 25% disadvantage to fitting costs. This also should mean respec since the reason people skilled into particular suits has been completely revamped.
So about those vehicle locks...

Relax everyone. Side arm on a scout was always used as a last resort for when...well.. lets put it out there you screwed up. Only reason I ever used my cala. Miss with shotty? sidearm. couldn't close the distance before you got detected? side arm.
Use the cloak AS your side arm.

It is. just listen man, Use the cloak after the kill. Use it to escape when caught, not infiltrate. We are masters of sneaking up on them now, and this is with out cloak. no bros, use it as a "teleport" out of danger. |

They want Scouts to lose sidearms when their best weapon is a shotgun? Shotgun only has so much ammo o,o. You put a nanohive down and that makes you an easy target. Every time you run out of ammo you go back to the nano-hive and someone could be waiting in the shadows.

Remnant was considering leaving the Min at 1x sidearm and 1x equipment.
It'll be difficult for Cal, Am, and Gal scouts to run non-rifle weaponry though. I'd be okay with it for my Cal scout.

I'm with the idea of giving the scout specialist role double equipment, no sidearm, cloak pg/CPU boost, and leaving the basic light frame with a sidearm, 1 equipment slot, and smaller/no pg/CPU boost. Or add a black ops suit. |

Honestly I like it. Stop thinking of scouts as speedy assault players and start thinking of them as infiltrators and saboteurs. Sneak into enemy territory and hack their stuff and in general become a nuisance. The second equipment will help tremendously. You have low HP, so avoid combat and use your light weapon as a last resort.
I know some of you like using your scout as more of a hunter, but there will be more light frame specializations in the future and perhaps one of those will be something more up your alley. Still, I'm not convinced the scout sidearm needs to go.

I think Scouts should have a L and S weapon slot and 2 equipment slots but; equipping a Light and a Sidearm will only allow for 1 equipment to equipped invalidating the fitting if one tries to equip a second, and vice versa, choosing to equip 2 equipment items should invalidate a fitting that has more than one weapon equipped (whether it be light or sidearm)
I say stop trying to strong-arm us into a particular role and give us options! But make it so that opening one door closes the other, just adds so much more versatility in fitting creation IMO

Skill discontinuity exists when a medium frame -> assault and logistics; complimentary paths that allow players to benefit from weapon and tanking skills already unlocked. But light suit-> scout and pilot; two skill pathways with very different SP branches.
Any chance you would consider leaving "scout" suits alone and just adding a parallel racial specialization path for each of these proposed specializations? I'd rather skill a Gallente infiltrator to get a second equipment slot as opposed to having to skill Minmatar light and scout trees to get my sidearm back. This way it feels like I'm gaining a specialization instead of forcibly losing my sidearm...

I think they see them as fast, electronic warfare type of logistics, except for the Minmatar. Move fast, locate the enemy and disrupt the enemies ability to locate you. The Minmatar is retaining its assassin role.

if you're using a side arm as only as last resort I am sorry. Side arms aren't a last resort 90% of the time they're better than a light weapon in cqc. They're a different weapon for a different situation.

Alternately you could split the races 50/50. Let the current scouts keep the sidearm and 1 EQ for those who already use them like that, add the two new scouts as type 2's. Collect data, see which ones are most successful and go from there.
