I'm all for receiving free stuff, but until there's a player market (which won't be soon), receiving 50 burnstalk laser rifles is kind of underwhelming, especially since the weapon itself is underwhelming, but maybe this was the purpose of the give-away? It would be interesting to see how this is decided from your end. 3rd - exclusive news that is only available via the newsletter - although I don't see how this is possible, as most of the exclusive news comes out of the forums, and even then it's not even "official" exclusive content, but a mixture of rumour mongering combined with a quoted IRC chat log... 4rd - exclusive marketplace promotions only available to newsletter subscribers. Again, I don't see how you could do this easily from a technical perspective but it would be nice...

2. I can assure you that none of our free giveaways are intended to be underwhelming. Absolutely not. We have a bigger giveaway this month, but I'll let you wait until next week to see if you prefer it. (I don't think it will be underwhelming at all!  )
3. As I mentioned a little earlier, there is some stuff that is tied to coincide with the newsletter and newsletter subscribers are the first to hear about it, but because all the news is publicly available on the website, we can't promise exclusivity in that area at this time.
4. This will be an interesting one to raise with the right people and I'll see if there is anything that can be done. I can't promise anything, however.

How about gear themed for the month? For example, this month has events based around the scouts, some 'scout gear' (suits, kinetic catalysers, etc.), or some pretty pink gear for Valentine's Day! (Cupid's Sniper Rifle)

Just to answer 1. For example I am based in France, and I receive the newsletter in French, but would prefer to receive it in English. I did raise a support ticket about this a while ago but was just told this is not possible - which is what I meant when it would be nice to receive newsletters in different languages than the one your psn account is tied to.

we're suckers for the lore as well. how about a short, episodic continuing story in every news letter? we have writers that love that kind of thing if you guys dont have anyone official anymore like u did for the stranded series [which was great btw] i'm sure the community is full of guys who would love to contribute as long as u advise them of official canon. |

I have been signed up for the news letter since roughly june all my info is correct i have all known ccp emailing adresses set to my accepted senders list. Yet I have never recived a copy the only way I have been able to recive my rewards is when some one posts the collection link here on the forums. I use hotmail for one of my accounts and my isp email for another same result for both..... was told it was being looked into after the 3day booster mail but hearing there was an xmas mail it was clearly not fixed as I did not recive said mail ... umm whats up with that? i hope there is a thread with a link posted for this next big give away your talking about seeing as you have to be subscribed to recive the give away could we maybe have a blue tag accomodate this? |

How about the naming of the planets that the tournament winners picked. A short interview with the teams about their choices and what planets name will be changed.
Also any type of stats, or heat maps to show where the most fighting happens, most used weapon etc. |

Some good suggestions in this thread, personally I would just like the newsletters to be more informative. How about roadmaps, long term content goal etc...
Also never seeing the words SOONGäó in regards to content in newsletters would be lovely, even something like PVE in the next 6 months is better than SOONGäó. I think CCP should be setting goals for things and striving to meet them fair enough if you miss one people will get angry but having no idea about what is coming or when is worse in my opinion,
You could also add in questionnaires could be about many different things and it would be an effective tool to gauge what people like/dislike about DUST at the moment. SOONGäó will feature pretty high on the dislike list lol.

Free stuff is good, preferably AUR stuff because you can't get it with isk so it feels like more of a gift.
It doesn't have to be 50x either.
Teasers, WIP screenshots and other talking points will foster discussion and buzz without feeling like you're forcing it. Wizards Of the Coast is really good with managing the publicity around its releases, and one of the techniques it uses is the concept of channel teasers: each media channel will get an exclusive preview of a different part of the next release (this includes media channels, so often various web sites will get the opportunity to present a card or piece of artwork). So, being able to sneak in a preview for a new weapon or suit (even with preliminary stats) will really drive subscription take-up.
Of course, for this to happen, you'll need a ready stockpile of teasers; WotC's production schedule means they're working at least 18 months in advance, but you'll have significantly less notice :)

Unique things with stats. As long as you state time frame, I think it works. The more details stats, the better. Last suggestion was to introduce player highlight for a time frame, so most kills, most healing, most assists, etc.

I think overall statistics would be nice. Dropsuits killed, be specific, like scouts vs logis vs heavy. Vehicles as well.
Explaining game mechanics. Things like stacking penalties, profile/precision/range, weapon profiles and resistances etc. Just overall how to better understand the game. I think there are a lot of unanswered questions about this game that no one reallllly knows.
The quest to determine what 514 means (lore)
How the current development is going, have CPM/CCP put in a column about how things are fairing and give us an update. Even if there isn't any thing to really "say" some communication is better than hearing nothing. The current CSM member Ripard Teg does an excellent job of this on his blog and could be a great place to get ideas for how to structure it.

I think there could always be more statistical stuff, for kills on a class of dropsuit, death, vehicles. This letter in particular for Janurary could be a nice wrap up of the years stuff instead of just monthly as requested. So from January 1 2013 to January 1 2014 there will be a stats chart similar to this possibly: https://www.borderlands2loothunt.com. You could do that for a lot of the stuff requested. by the people in this thread.
Shoutouts to different corps, blogs, video makers related to Dust 514.
Lore is always nice to see to look at what is going on around us as Dust players. It could even be a monthly story of sorts.
Another thing I would like to see if you guys have any heatmaps for particular sockets or maps to see where the most combat heavy areas are located, if you guys have such data anyways.
An idea came into my head that is of a small Q&A. Players can post in a thread that yourself or whoever else works on the newsletter to answer these questions yourself or other devs in the studio could. You can always choose which go into the newsletter of course.
That's all I can think of for now. |

Could you give 25 free Rail Rifles with no prerequisites; so that people, who haven't, can try them out before spending SP to skill into them ?
(edit) ... by the way, why didn't you give out free examples of both rifles in the Newsletter (like 10 of each) when you released them, instead of only the Combat Rifle?

You could delay the date range. So in January's newsletter, you could give the stats for December for example. I really like the idea of posting stats. Maybe make a "stats box" in the corner. Stats I would like to see would be things like ISK destroyed, # of EVE orbital bombardments in FW, # of PC districts conquered, etc.
A brief FW summary would be cool too. Something like "Minmatar forces pushed hard in the early part of December taking x systems, but we're met with a strong counterpunch as the Amarr forces rallied to the cause in the third week reclaiming x system. Caldari and Galllente forces remain locked in a vicious stalemate and have seen the largest number EVE of orbital strikes to date." It's a totally fictional example, but gives a sense of the tone that would be fun to read.

Regarding the Newsletters:
I would like a piece of lore thrown in every now and then. For example at the moment you could write about how the State Protectorate is struggling on the Ground against the Federal Marines. So stuff the players experience themselves. Maybe with some of the more important NPCs saying a line or two about the current state. You could also add some stats in there:
Districts flipped / defended in the last month. Biggest hotspots and so on.
And also a small thing. If you could forward that to Team True Grit: I like the FW Statistics at the end of the match. But the "Districts owned" in percentage thing needs another small thing: Something that tells us how much districts we own lees or more after the battle. (yeah. 1 of course) but I would like to see this one district with some kind of "+X% control" or "-X% control"

Including video tutorials , an educational mode and the main languages GÇïGÇïplay structure , skills, weapons , xomo open and which is open to , would come in handy for the novice.
The public battles over 3 levels , basic , advanced, prototype, and for example in the basic can only fight with basic suit and basic weapon, and so respectively , that would come in handy for making the battles more leveled between users.
A maximum of 4 cars per team.
Tanks more expensive and less military life , and the more expensive advanced (I'm also tank).
They improve the combat suits , have the logistical and combat prototype gk.0 use the logistic ck.0 prototype , the prototype ck.0 logistics would have to have 4 modules high , and 3 low and prototype combat ck . 0 would have to be 5 high and 4 low .
A sp reset points , free, or aurum .

Well this is a news letter so:
Some updates on what has happened in DUST. Corps that have joined PC, and corps that have left PC, at least tin terms of owning districts. Some neutral reporting would be nice.
Fac War developments. Weather one side is making good use of Districts in order to capture systems. That kind of thing. Maybe a look at what EVE pilots have done the most orbital strikes, so we can recognize those names better in game, and know who to call upon.
Something to give the world a more persistent feel. It is nice hearing about stories in EVE, lets try to have them in DUST. |

I wasn't avoiding your question, and no, not it's not safe - nor correct - to say that nothing will be done to rectify this.
I've looked into a number of cases in this thread already and found that mails are being delivered and opened. I'll look into yours now, as this is obviously not what we want, and there is something wrong sometimes (generally with the subscriber's ISP or mail service incorrectl flagging our mailings as spam) and users sometimes have to take the extra step to manually add our sender address to their safe senders list.
I'll post in here when I know more.

I'd like to see more data based on what the community is actively using. Something along the lines of what I did with this thread, showing charts that display where the general market is fixated at that point in time.
