Teirside is a waste of time thus I say no to it for now and it does not need to be looked into being implemented (yet).
I disagree. If they allow more options to be open to the players, then tactics and such can improve the quality of life, as well as giving meaning to many of the things that one might find on the eventual marketplace, causing the economic action of supply and demand to start working on a larger area (Right now, the only 'good' selling items would be Wep/Shield/Armor/Damage mods). It would also make the fights in FW simultaneously more interesting and involved.
Actually it won't and the reason for that is due to the meta people will still focus on what is the best and quickest way to min/max their SP which will bring a lot more issues in its own right but we will have MORE options for it.
As for tactics, I'm sorry but regardless of teirside or not an organized group will still stomp on the 'blueberries' and rage posting will continue. Basically there is no tactics still just more options on how to die (in game) and to stomp harder.
I have to agree on the market being a little more interesting but until it is actually implemented I'll wait and see.
As an established player (as you mentioned making FW more interesting) you would already have the isk, friends and corporation to help fund you but and everyone here that I've read are only thinking about 'let's fix "X" because I want a better gaming experience and nuts to anyone else!' mentally.
Ok let me inform on why teirside not should not be even considered right now. Player retention and content required. Yes we all know that Dust is still considered still in 'Beta" because of the lack of pve, suits, gear, advance/proto HAVs etc.
What happens if a new player wanted to earn isk but didn't understand the controls or the game in general and was inexperienced in pvp? The last thing they want is to be destroyed in FW or joining a random skirmish with everyone AFK in the MCC which doesn't give a good impression at all. The best option? Pve. Let them do a few missions to clear out drones at X planet in Y system while earning some standing with the faction navy of their choice and earning a little isk and books on the side to get them started. A tutorial mode can help guide the new player and ease them into the the eternal fight that is new eden or what not.
As a 2007 eve pilot I've done mission at an early stage, to low sec roaming and finally to null sec blob warfare and believe me when I say that we do not need teirside yet. We need market pvp. We need the rest of the suits and vehicles. We need god damn pve/pvpve and a tutorial for new people. Once these are established then bring in teirside for specializations sack.

i agre that we dont need it now, but when we have the racial parity, pve, and a market, we should do it...and probably a respec when that happens bc no one will have relevant skills. lol

Again, fighting over the prices of.....what? Proto mods? Those mostly once again being only Weapon Shield Armor and Damage?
Newbies come in now, get destroyed 45 times and learn nothing.
Newbies in Eve grab a frigate specialized for what they think would be neat and rock out and, even when they get destroyed, they still go right back and do it again because they enjoyed what they were doing. Along the way, they learned why they got blasted and adjust for it.
You want PVE? So what are you going to do with the stuff that you pick up that is not one of the desired mods? Because, you know no one is going to buy them if they aren't one of the four (save for edge cases).
Lets assume the market opens. People decide to try something different because the mods are cheap. They get destroyed because this is currently a binary game where raw damage wins all.
Now, add specialization in. They may not kill that Vet, but if they can keep him tied down and his teammates demolish him..Newb then feels accomplished, even if the vet destroyed him in the process. He contributed. Now, it doesn't matter that he went 0/45, he's found a role that works and can specialize further in it, or try something else. |

i personally do not think it will help. i think lower endd players need to be seperated from the protostompers. pve is the way to go along with banning proto gear in high sec fights. though the proto users need a place they can play with there toys and sadly pc/faction just isnt it atm.
and honestly why bother giving the lower end suits more slots that new players wont be able to fill anyway. and its not going to stop the higher sp toons piling whatever high end gear they can on cheaper suits.
i think all this is going to do is delay the release of new content. i see you all screaming about why havnt the fan fest promises been kept? could it be because every damm thing is being rebalanced over and over again so there is no time for more new content.
let ccp make the game then add the polish. |

Once again reading comprehension seems to be failing.
We're talking about adding content, removing the proto-stomping, and making the game overall more fun for all involved, as it should have been from the beginning. Please re-read the thread. |

I've read it and I know what it is about and I still do not support it as it will take time and effort off the devs when they should be focusing on what should have been placed in dust upon release.
Let them finish the foundation before building the house then I will go with the flow not before. |

We'll have to agree to disagree. I feel that this is somewhat important as player agency should be built in to the 'foundation' but, clearly you feel differently. |

Aizen Intiki wrote:I approve of tiercide, but that description of it isn't really right. tech 2 hulls wouldn't have those. They would be focued around one central idea, and would do it different way. For example, logistics ships wouldn't have attack functions. THey also wouldn't be good at EWAR. Just being a logi.
Logistics ships aren't a very good comparison as the only logistics hull is in the Support line.
HACs are a better example: there is an Attack HAC (Cerberus, Deimos, Vagabond, Zealot), and a Combat HAC (Eagle, Ishtar, Munin, Sacrilege).
Not all of the lines have to appear in all of the groups. |

Most people who understand what it is and know what good it could do approve this message. Are you all communist? What is wrong with all of you? Let's make every thing the same so we can get good fights? Screw off. You are thinking the game. I want to know how tiericide is going to work and fix the game. This idea is pathetic. Please explain how this works and why I should play if my SP means nothing because everything is the same.
Communism is wanting a handout (time based SP) to give you an advantage in life for no effort on your part other than standing in a queue (opening an account 18 months ago) ... comrade |
