Not that cloaks won't be cool, but they're going to be buggy as hell, and we have enough bugs already, that have been around for too long.
Please, CCP, check some of these SOON(tm) items off the list!
- Terrain Fixes: Little hills and bumps should not bring my power armor to a dead stop, nor should a six inch step, nor an invisible wall. Also, there are now too few good sniping positions.
- Full Racial Load-Outs: All suits (PILOT SUITS!) and guns for all races would be far, far more exciting than a gimmicky new piece of equipment
- Matchmaking: A team of newberries vs. proto-stomping squads is not fun for either side
- FW and PC Enhancements: Players need more incentive to engage in these modes (more diverse items in the FW store?). At the very least, it would give people something to use their proto fits on rather than, again, ruining hisec/pub matches.
- Make Lowsec Count: Friendly fire is a good start, but there should be benefits and consequences to playing in low and nullsec, just like in EVE.
- Fully Mappable Controls: Please. Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease with iskies on top.
- PvE and Training Maps: There are a lot of things in Dust that aren't easy to learn while you're being shot at. Call it QQing if you like, but if someone starting Dust for the first time decides they want to be a pilot, for example, they're going to have a very bad time.
- Hit Through Cover: I've been killed while fully behind and under cover, and this is, I think, a pretty big problem.
- Glitches: 1.7 unleashed more glitches than I've seen since beta, I'm sorry to say. I'm sure their reports are all over the forums, but there is a lot to be fixed before you go trying new, game-breaking things.
- Weapon Tweaks: The laser rifle, mass driver, and swarm launcher are currently largely irrelevant. Specifically, the laser rifle needs to increase DPS with tier, the mass driver's splash is now too small, and the swarm launcher, while I support it being weak against tanks, needs to be faster to make it useful against LAVs and dropships instead. Also, it would be very nice to have a way to improve grenade fuse time. 4 or 0 seconds are not enough options.
- Vehicles: more types, more tiers, more races
- Cosmetics: EVE's character creater, at the very least. Customisation options for suits and weapons would be utterly amazing.
In short, CCP, the cloak is the last thing we need right now. There is so much more, between what needs to be fixed, and what has been promised, that I'd much, much rather see you deliver on.
Death is a learning experience. I just wish I wasn't such a slow learner. >.<

Agreed. I'd rather see the stuff we have get fixed before adding another variable like cloaking.
And if cloaking is to come, drop the firing while cloaked nonsense. It's a game breaker.

Cloaks would be nice and so would all the things on the soon list, but I would like to see what we have debugged first, and did the OP mention Ambush spawning? that's a must, Ambush is great, slaughter due to no spawning options I'm sure its not meant to be.
Cloaks that you can fire through? should not be. |

these seem good points but i doubt proto stompers give a damn if they did they would PULL BACK and stop stomping and redlineing people :P save proto for corp FW and district.
and id love to see what is in store for the caldari gallente and minmatar heavy suits.. bet when they coem out people will flock to the minmatar suit cause its probably going to be as fast as a plated medium suit :P |

Many good points, so I will only touch on one or two.
First I like your list, it is well thought out and concise.
Secondly, the proto bears I really enjoy, yesterday especially when my squad ran into several squads of proto bears and decimated them. Sorry Rampage had to be done, thanks for the fun Kira L. They allowed us to build up our iskies really quickly by bringing so much isk into the battle. For every one proto suit kill I am sure the isk pool for end of match payouts went up significantly. This allowed my squad to reap payouts double the usual amount on at least 4 occasions and netting us each over a million isk in profit (after suit costs) over the 4 battles. The proto bears are not an issue for players with skill, tactics or good communication. The issue comes in when people without squad are expecting to be able to HTFU without a squad, tactics or communication. They get destroyed even by meta 1 suit users with all the things listed, not to mention proto bears. Better variety at the FW store would be welcome though.
Third, you forgot to add P2P market, it is important and necessary now not in 6-12 more months time.

I want a way to sell all of the salvage that I do not ever plan to use. I could use that ISK!
I played on a squad last night with a Scout that says he would have survived several firefights by getting behind cover if cover actually did anything for the first 5 feet of it. I have this same issue.
And dear lord grenade fuse times....It take way too long for anything other than a Contact grenade to explode. At least half the fuse time from basic to enhanced....or have the skill level give a bonus to shorten fuse time...something.
I think I know where this cloaking thing is coming from. I just watched a video before tying this post of Planetside 2 (I have not really paid much attention to it) and noticed that this game...that looks very similar to Dust....has cloaking mechanics...somehow I think that is involved what with Planetside 2 coming out in a month or so on the PS4.
One kind of minor thing: It would be nice to have a readout of your WP on screen while playing...maybe in bigger numbers between the clone counts under the radar...just a thought/. |

I agree with a lot of things in this post.
The LR needs fixing pretty fast. I cannot work out the current logic for progression on that weapon. Matchmaking also needs some real fixes. I keep seeing matches of squads on one side vs random mix on the other. Most of the time you can tell which side will win by bringing up the player list at the start of the game. |

It's funny how people assume that everyone works on everything. They release content as it's ready. If you have problems with PC, suits, vehicle, or map people, than take it up with the PC, suit, vehicle, and map teams, not the team that is actually giving us something new and interesting.

I don't assume that at all. What I've seen, prior to CCP Rouge coming on, is that new toys coming out get prioritised (seemingly) over fixing existing problems, or features that have been promised since beta. With all of the teams currently reevaluating their processes, I think this is a good time to give them an idea of what's important to us.

Many people seem to think that everything is important. At this point in time I suggest that perhaps finishing off the basics, getting the new in and having a big stack of bugs to fix should be the priority. Although we complain about the bugs we have less of them than before and that is because while working on implementing new stuff the Dev team takes some time to fix stuff that they can. This makes our games better and gives them more time to make new stuff. The world is still rotating, no need to worry about one little snow storm in an otherwise sunny world.

I've tried to list only, as you say, the basics and the bugs. If there are things in the list that you don't think are part of the core of what we need in Dust right now, please point them out so I can remove them.

I know we aren't supposed to make lists, I know. Coming back to this, the topic title sounds whiny, too. All I want to do is add to whatever discussions CCP and CPM0 might be having as to their current and future priorities, so please, folks. Tell me what I missed. Tell me what I have in the list that isn't important or immediate. But also, tell me if you agree.
I need a break from Dust! I'll just go hop on the forums...

Training areas! i would love the ability to go into a map by myself with a pick of the litter of all weapon types and some form of "cardboard" target to shoot at to get an idea of how a weapon will work....ability to customize the target's shields and armor would be great too. I just don't see a merc going into battle with a weapon he has never used without practice. From a logical stand point it just makes no sense!

Ha. I first read "...with a pick of the litter..." as "...and pick up all the litter..."
Cloaks = Hogwarts514
Please fix what is already in the system before adding new stuff (that could mess it up more).
I really like the practise area/dojo concept. Other games like DCUO and Tekken use a version of this. In addition to just being a practical area for weapons and fittings, there could be mini games against drones and skeet shooting target practise with feedback on accuracy, helping people fine tune their aiming controls. (Dear player: after 10 dojo sessions, you tend to miss a moving target by 37% to the rear. We recommend that you increase your X sensitivity to accommodate.) |

- Player Market: Maybe we'll never get to the full-fledged economy of EVE, but we're all tired of sitting on gear we'll never use. We need to be able to sell it, and we need to be able to move goods around. Corps are severely hindered by not being able to store and provide materiel.
In short, CCP, the cloak is the last thing we need right now. There is so much more, between what needs to be fixed, and what has been promised, that I'd much, much rather see you deliver on. Encore! Encore! At the rate the nuances have been going the cloaking ability just ginna be glitched out, and loose its luster before it has a chance to be impressive. Fix all known glitches, issues, and and address complaints. Then bring out new stuff. And for crying out loud give us a market! Any piece of one please! The ability to sell or donate salvage or any type of gear to the corp. Our fellow mercs use different gear. My tanker buddies would be glad to take my tank mods off my hands. A market must be developed. We need the small fixes first so when the new ideas and gear come we can enjoy them whole heartedly. |
