I guess here's another concern of mine that there's no answers to necessarily at this time which has a very large importance. According to these new findings, for gallente and caldari assault suits, there's supposed to be a 5% per level add on to all respective armor and shielding dropsuit modules. Does this compound now with already existing skills? We will end up with a cumulative total of armor or will existing skills become removed and obsolete? Because under this principle we'd have the following:
Gallente suits
Gallente Assault Bonus: +5% to HP bonus of armor plate modules per level. +5% per level to maximum armor, +2% armor module efficacy per level
Caldari Suits
Caldari Assault Bonus: +5% to bonus of shield extender modules per level. +5% per level to maximum shields, +2% shield extender efficacy per level
Or now will the overall maximum increase skills be removed and replaced by these suit bonuses? If those skills disappear, are we going to get that SP back or is it just going to disappear entirely as some people have had happen to them prior?
All things I keep thinking about...
Anybody have any ideas?

Please bring your questions and concerns to the main (20 page) thread, I'd like to keep this one as a basis for requesting CCP's consideration toward an SP Refund regardless of the extent of the changes.

Yep, this is what I wanted all along.
I'm waiting for the day when I can rid myself of all Amarr/Caldari gear and go full Gallente/Minmatar.

Dropsuits, Dropsuit upgrades AND weaponry should all be refunded.
Dropsuits are changing The modules / module bonuses are changing The suits give specific weapon bonuses, likely causing your current suit and weapon choices to not coincide with each other.
Also, game balance has changed a LOT since the optional respec in June (I think thats when it was) |

Assuming of course you cross specialize, yeah - but until you reach that point you're constricted to that. A lot of other roles can adapt just by changing fits.

With that in mind, I have a suggestion for how to rework the Dropsuit Command skill tree that would do just this, and also would not require another respec (to be clear, I agree we should get a respec with 1.8. What I mean but not requiring another respec is that this proposal would have to come after 1.8 and we should try to avoid any potential cause for a respec moving forward).

Well, there is a strong support for militia and standard variants of everything; so hopefully CCP can bump that up on the priority list and make some militia Scrambler Rifles that we can try with our new heavy frames =D

I would prefer a full respec.
Second to that I would prefer that CCP finish putting in all the racial weapons/dropsuits/vehicles, then give everybody a full respec.
Finally, I'll take any respec you will give me, however, the problem with respecing only suit skills is that people made weapon choices and skill choices based upon those bonuses. Everything changes when you change those bonuses. This won't hurt high SP veterans much, but lower SP players may really feel the pinch when SP is rare and they have a chosen race that doesn't support the skills the originally invested in |

Aeon Amadi wrote:Considering the recent fire I started and subsequently threw fuel on here, I'd like to follow it up with something meaningful. Suit skill bonuses will be changed in 1.8 as mentioned here and in the thread I linked previously: Quote:New Commando skills coming in 1.8 should help make this role a little more enticing, but really, the major problem is that Commandos are a highly specialized role (IGÇÖd argue the Commando is one of the more specialized roles we have) with a high SP cost. What then happens during the battle is they have no other role to fall back on when the in-battle situation changes, leaving them at a major disadvantage and no way to change roles (which is no fun at all). We want to lower SP costs of skills to allow players to get into everything much faster and increase the sink on the high-end, but that wonGÇÖt happen until after 1.8 With this being considered, I can't help but recall how susceptible you [CCP] were to the community's input on vehicle changes and new rifles prior to 1.7's release. The return of the Assault Drop Ship was a particular favorite among the community and rightfully so. However, I'd like to call attention to one primary factor of 1.7's successes being the fact that vehicle skills were refunded on release. That being said, I would like you to consider very heavily on taking a similar treatment with 1.8's (potential, we're not holding you to anything yet) changes and giving a skill refund on suits that have been changed in such drastic ways as to redefine their play-style. While I make no assumptions, I have a strong feeling that the community will echo my request. In either case, thank you for listening. Edit: Regardless of final changes made to the suits/skills, this request still applies. Large, drastic changes such as these affect the player-base directly and it would do CCP great justice with the community to refund associated SP. I also expect there to be a balance pass on the rifles, and other weapons, maybe we do just need a complete respec.

Its respec time, not partial respec time.

EVE =/= Dust 514. Dust 514 is set in the Eve universe, yes, but the two are completely different games. When the game has as many imbalances as it does and there are drastic overarching changes occurring to the game (complete rework of skill bonuses for dropsuits) than a respec is entirely necessary because the player(s) invested SP into a suit that is no longer available. Point in case, if a player dropped SP into a Minmatar Logistics for it's ability to hack faster and receive a passive armor regen, obviously the Minmatar Logi isn't going to have either of those come 1.8
It's entirely necessary, wanted and very well received among the majority of the Dust 514 community with only a small portion of the player-base being adverse to it. Dust 514 is very similar to Eve Online, but not the same game and doesn't need to fall under the same rules. Neither of those reasons (community minority saying otherwise or the "same game" argument) are valid enough to NOT warrant a respec when massive changes are occurring in game.
Why should a player be stuck with an investment that they had no control over the changes over? Ask yourself that question.
Because Eve Online doesn't do respecs? Not a good reason. Because they deserve to be stuck with the FotM? This is vindictive and not in the community's interests. Because you're ashamed to talk about something you disagree with, in a completely different game with players who already look down on Dust 514? Find better friends.
EDIT: Here's a quote from YOUR THREAD - My idea for PC:
The Robot Devil wrote:I would like to see districts work more like the sovereignty mechanic in EVE. I realize that this isn't EVE.
Do you see the logic here? Cherry picking the stuff you want/don't want from the same topic doesn't serve for a good argument. You admit that this isn't Eve, so why should we -not- have Respecs solely for the posterity of Eve's theme?
