Apologies for the unscheduled downtime that Tranquility is experiencing tonight.
Our services have been the target of a DDoS attack this evening, and we're currently working on rectifying the situation and making sure that everything comes back online okay.
We apologize for the interruption in service, and we hope to have things back online soon.

The people who did it though, are not out on new year's eve. Instead sat at home,
behind a computer, whereas they should be behind bars.

i just came from watching about 5 hours of anime and i was looking to play DUST for a bit before i went back to watching anime.

On behalf of those in the community who do appreciate your work and your efforts I would like to humbly apologize for the above *******. And further more say that while CCP does not get it right sometimes and has had its problems. In no way does it justifiy any of this nor any form of attack or harm. I do hope sir that your remember. That while the vocal minority given a voice by the anonymity of the internet can be uncouth and unrepentant in their slander and hurtful comments, that you can remember most people and many of the gamers in the community are decent people and not such inconsiderate asshats.

You're really over reacting over this. It's just a DDoS (Most likely done by a large group of people) these happen everyday to all sorts of services and can usually be resolved quickly. |

Yea, if only they had listened a bit more. That is something I can sympathize with; perhaps learning from my mistakes. Those situations are usually life-or-death situations that require immidiate attention. Somebody has to perform that job. CCP is doing so out of thier kindness and generosity (not saying that the paramedics/firefighters/police officers/millitary personnel aren't doing it for the same reason).

in a real job you analyze the benifits of keeping a customer vs losing that costomer. the answer isnt always to keep them. its a matter of weather or not that costomer is going to bring in more revenue then they will cost you to keep.
games are a different animal, people dont make makes as a means to make money becuase lets face it, most people who make games dont make any money whatsoever. they do it for passion, it just so happens that the company who hires them is doing it to make money off of what they create, but the devs arnt doing it for the money, and givin the absence of money would still be making games on their own in their spare time anyways, with equal passion.
ive lead a few teams in the professional world, and if a client talked to my guys like that i drop the account, losing one of my team to that BS will cost me more money then keeping the account and losing a member of the team. Your havnt seen anything till youve watched a 5 foot nothing ball off attitude knee a poisonous client in the balls, and i have to say worth every penny lost on that account, and i backed her up on it too. |

(And BTW if you work for any game company you are getting payed. Most of the time you're getting paid quite well too. Earlier today I purchased the 200 Aurum pack. Almost immediately after I purchased 7 of the 1/2 price 30 day passive boosters. A few hours later I purchased 7 of the 1/2 price 30 day active boosters. When I went to activate the said boosters, not only had I not received my 15 day omega booster as included in the December deal, but the 7 1/2 price 30 day active boosters were missing from my character as well.
All I want is to have my missing boosters replaced and to know if there's going to be a security issue with my account or the card i used to purchased the Aurum.
I believe in this game and I love playing it.
Please hurry back to me on this CCP.

This was only a DDoS attack. This means that they did not have access to any information on CCPs servers (DDoS is done by sending ridiculous amounts of packets quickly to a server to try to overload it this causes it to crash. This does not allow access to CCPs servers) |

And where is the insult? That Falcon guy only replied to me once I was a little playful as I reminded CCP of how they have 'pubstomped' the commmunity across 2013. DUST used to have over 10k players you know. And my original message was clearly not a direct hateful message, as many of you are acting up like it is. Those that know me would know how much I have played and streamed DUST.
CCP even did an article on me about my livestream, so its all good. I have gotten 20+ people buy a PS3 simply for DUST 514, so no matter how tough you kids are in your replies to me in this thread, I can say none of you has been near doing any real actual community 'work' for the game like I have. (Unless you work for CCP of course)

EDIT: A game maintaining ~40% of peak launch numbers around 8 months in is actually pretty good going - and blaming a community guy based in Reykjavik for the supposed sins of the game devs in Shanghai... Classy dude, real classy.
Besides, it is impossible to make something to please everyone - especially when CCP have openly said that they don't actually want to do that. The game may not be perfect (or even all that close) but it is much better than 12 months ago. |

well if anything the derptroll team that launched the attack is going down very soon. They hit multiple games, and pissed off rival hacker groups so they doxed him a few days ago. Now everyone has his passwords, gmail account, his real life identity and his address. It's all on pastebin if you're interested.... As the guy's about 18 years old I imagine he'll break down crying and ask for his mama once the FBI show up at his door. |

So you still dont get what Im saying. How dense can you fanboys get? I have 30 million SP and I have NO PLANS stopping playing it. But CCP has made it really hard playing it in 2013, with countless bugs and what nots. But as an EVE player I know it will take 10 years to get to the goal, but I am not gonna kiss their asses all the way. I wont sink to your levels.
No matter how much we fail, the ability to overcome the impossible will always be defining us.
