are you guys just shooting at tanks when their hardeners are up?
if you are thats your problem, your too stupid to learn how to do new things.
but seriously, this is what I have in mind for making the balance more perfect.
sica & soma- 1 type of hardener on, stacking penalties apply, if you try to put more than one hardener on the fitting will become invalid. reasonable for militia grade equipment.
Gunnlogi & Madrugar- 2 hardeners max, since these are the ones you have to sink SP into, but they are still STD tanks, they should be allowed only 2 hardeners on max. 1 hardener for combat, the other hardener for retreating but it would be weaker because of stacking penalties. you cant activate them until both are colldowned. or when you activate one hardener you automatically get all of them activated and they are on colldown mode when retreating.
the price of tanks right now SHOULD HAVE been the price BEFORE 1.7 because lest face it, they weren't worth **** back then, every brain dead ****** with av grenades could solo the toughest ones with little to no effort.
increase the price of militia tanks to 150k, STD to 500k. that way it does cost isk to send them in, but its not to where everybody goes broke for a single fitting.

If the changes truly resulted in a "reaped what they sow" situation then my iFG would no longer damage new-players in HAVs and most Large Blasters wouldn't be able to hurt infantry.

1.7 will be talked about for many patches to come. "You guys remember 1.7 tanks LOL" This build makes me miss Chromosome tanks. At least back then you knew the pilot was both good and had invested time and money into his build. You know how you can tell you have a real beta tanker in these threads? He doesn't like this build either.
The sad part? what a patch won't take away from the time spent in 1.7 is more creative and coordinated ways of killing tanks. The way I fear the day of the scout which is surely to come, tanks need to be shaking in their boots when the hammer swings back for the hatred 1.7 is bringing down on them.

I both agree and disagree, I like the idea of multiple hardners being activated as one, keeps the waves of oppurtunity philosophy.
I don't agree with making tanks more expensive again they are expected to be a constant threat on the battlefield, this game is supposed to feel like all out war. In addition to that if in 16v16 match you only ever have about 6 people deploy a tank, what happens when they don't to deploy tanks anymore? Having more vehicles constantly on the battlefield creates a more dynamic environment. Not to mention that really tanks and gunships and whatever other vehicles we get should be dying rather often, about 60% as often as a competent infantry player.
Finally you say don't attack a hardened tank, fair enough it's good advice. But humour me this, me and my squad are holding an entrenched position, we can't afford to loose it. Then all of a sudden a 2 hardner fit madrugar comes over the hill, now I can't call in a tank personally, the madrugar will get it, I can't request vehicular assistance because they are pinned down elsewhere. Am I just supposed to give up? I mean why bother fighting the tank he is hardened? But he is still forcing his way into my position, I might as well just grab an starter fit and walk into his barrell.
'Waves of opportunity' is meant to be just that, it is a time where they have the opportunity to be useful, do you not see that its not like that at the moment?

Today I chased a maddy. I planted 3 RE on it. I threw 3 packed AV grenades on it, and then detonated the REs. I THEN proceeded to fire a swarm at TWICE it for good measure....it did NOT blow up. I used every measure possible to destroy it and it didnt work. AV is changing, but tanks are still too powerful. they are too fast and too cheap. It takes a rail tank to take out another tank....as stupid as it is

actually im no longer a tanker, my actions speak louder than the forums, this was both a suggestion and me laughing at all of complainers now.
say what you will, I am done with the balance issue, im no longer a tanker, im just trying to make this game better for everyone, and having one class completely killed because others feel entitled a good game does not make.

I think the biggest complaint is there is no anti-vehicle/anti-infantry balance here.

This is exactly what most tankers wanted.
Back in the old days when I tanked it took skill and investment. Then they nerfed tanks for a while and now they are OP. Some even say that tanks are still a little UP!
Ugh, most of these new tankers make me glad that I don't tank anymore. I don't associate with profligates (also same reason I hate the Caldari)
All in all I miss the amount of skill that this game used to take. Now it's easy mode lane and people seem a lot dumber since closed beta ended. |

I'll tell you again, I've never played call of duty. I don't know why you think that's such an awesome insult to tell everyone. The way you talk it up, I would think you were a fan boy. Also, I drive an LAV. Just because I don't drive the "one-hit-kill" mobile, aka tank, doesn't mean I'm not a pilot.
when you speak of someone with no effort or skill, what you are trying to say is someone with level 5 prototype AV weapons, level 5 proficiency and level 5 complex damage mods who got the drop on you and managed to get at least 3 shots off while you were away from your teammates before you could react. So why don't you say what you mean. Because if a skill-less brainless player actually killed your tank, then you really are a joke.

Just because I don't drive the "one-hit-kill" mobile, aka tank, doesn't mean I'm not a pilot. when you speak of someone with no effort or skill, what you are trying to say is someone with level 5 prototype AV weapons, level 5 proficiency and level 5 complex damage mods who got the drop on you and managed to get at least 3 shots off while you were away from your teammates before you could react. So why don't you say what you mean. Because if a skill-less brainless player actually killed your tank, then you really are a joke.
im saying that those who complain about not being able to kill tanks by themselves with militia grade equipment are the reason for this and the imbalance, if your going to blame anyone, blame those that complain they cant solo tanks.

you seem to forget that this is supposed to be a competitive first person shooter, where things like stats actually matter. any fool can call in a tank and completely skew the balance and change their stats just because they called a tank. The proof is all over the map. unfortunately people like you have no real experience with competitive games so you think this is how it's supposed to be.
Someone who is equipped and skilled into a class that is made to take you out should be able to take you out. It's not a guarantee, but he should have fair chance. That's balance in a competitive game. CCP practically eliminated an entire class of anti-vehicle infantry just so that you could have "god" mode. You seem to think that's perfectly ok because you cant see anything past yourself.

So you suggest I just sit there with my SL/PLC/FG and wait until the hardeners go down? I understand that hardeners are meant to protect a tank while it attacks but it can kill 10 people and run away before there is a window of opportunity to engage it between hardener activations. I've literally tried to wait with AV for probably 3 minutes before just switching back to regular assault because I never saw the tank without hardeners on.

Well then what can be done about a smart tanker? What can be done to someone who is only even visible while hardeners are activated? I can't stand when tankers just post "get gud, deep, hardeners" type comments when it's virtually a state of invulnerability only broken by a full squad of proto AV. Only being able to destroy tanks when they make a mistake or miscalculation is not balanced. Success and failure of an engagement should depend on both parties, not just the tank ******* up their hardener cycling. |

im not arguing that things are perfect, they are just going in the right direction now. if you cant outsmart an intelligent player then what right do you have to kill him or defeat him or what have you?

If tanks got within throwing distance of infantry and exploded that's them being stupid. AV grenades are as much of a crutch as SLs are. To get proto av nades it took about 1.5m sp while to get proto SL/PLC/FG it takes like less than 650k sp. The disadvantage to AV nades is that you basically commit suicide to use them unless the tanker gets cocky and lets you kill them.
I agree with the class being eliminated. It seems most people just try an ignore tanks. It's like having 2 separate battles on the same field: infantry warfare and tank battles. |

the thing about av grenades, they were an abomination, they were used as a primary weapon, grenades are not primary weapons.
