Honestly man, it's a FTP game that gets most of its funding from EVE. Only so much budget to go around. I think they're doing a pretty good job with limited resources. It's up to a vocal player base to keep them on their toes, though. |

The first few games today I didn't see many tanks. This evening it changed. I guess they were figuring **** out and getting fit.
I have proto nades, swarms you name it. I fit a suit with dampeners so they couldn't scan me down and they ust eat infantry AV. They aren't even scared of Forges. Even if they were their tank is likely cheaper than a proto dropsuit.
It took 2 matches this evening to see that the balance was HORRIBLY off. I can't ******* believe that they tested this.

I also have a lot of SP sunk into Swarmers but I disagree with some of the QQing. After a round with these guys, I can say that in one match, 6 tanks were destroyed on both sides in a domination (not a very long game) and only 2 of those were from HAV vs HAV battles. That being said, the only thing I see slightly off with them is they are too fast in my opinion. A HAV shouldn't be faster than a LAV. I thought this was an exaggeration by peeps on the forums until I logged into my first game and had a tank roll up on me. That was an experience.
That being said, two scenerios. Game A. I took out my proto swarmer, prof 3 with 3x damage mods. Hit him with 18 rockets and took out all his shields and 1/4 of his armor. He ran away faster than I could finish him and once he circled the building (again, small building and he was freaking fast) he was completely healed again. I then witnessed two guys throwing AV nades at it as it rolled up the hill. 2 of their grenades (guessing good grenades) did more damage than 18 of my rockets.
HOWEVER, other match, Game B (with the 6 death tanks), a group of 4 ganged up on the tank and a militia swarmer was what took it out in the end when the active mod was off. I laughed really hard. Of course, most of the work was done by AV nades but the militia weapon always tickles me.
So, no, I don't think tanks are OP, I think the Swarmer was just cut down way too much too fast. Once the active repping is off (which is an obvious glow on the tank) that tank went down faster than anything I've seen. However, I'm certain I also was encountering militia tanks.
However, I won't be using my swarmer again due to two factors:
-the RR and CR hype left me completely vunerable on every map I pulled out my swarmer with my pitiful sidearm -as the rockets cannot be perfectly timed unless you're standing right next to it (which you're very unlikely to survive) so AV nades are way more reliable to hit the tank on time, especially with how tanks are chasing us across the map, or running away too fast for a full reheal
both of those reasons are enough to not justify the cost of bringing my swarmer into battle. AV and RE it is.
Besides the speed issue, I don't think anything needs to be touched on the tanks. Yes, I will killed by as much of them as everyone else was today. However, I think they are working as intended. A tank is meant to be formidable. When something that big moves in our thoughts should be 'oh ****' not 'oh goody, points'.

I prefer the gunny, try a sica, mlt rail, hardener and the Bpo booster. Maddy+nitrous is insane though, and goes faster than lav's.
Missile turrets are insanely rapidfire, and do 450 damage a shot.
Maddys though suffer severely in the turning department. Gunnies can't withstand more than a shot kr 2 from AI rails or forges. Although their acceleration and turning abilities allow them to dodge behind cover.

Either that or they;re saying... "Well we let AV have it's reign over tanks, so its time for tanks to have a comeback" Cause looking at the past, it's been swinging like a pendulum. Which means that in a while AV will be back to overpowered vs tanks in about 3-4 months. Or tanks may be swapped down again... dunno.

i think you should try it. i have a feeling you will REALLY enjoy yourself. If missiles are traveling slower than tanks then we have a promblem lol. Theres a reason we use them in real life durring jet dog fights; because they go super sonic and are faster than jets. If AV missiles cant catch a tank well... that doesent sound balanced at all, still. Also sounds like the madrugar is STILL more maneuverable than shield tanks. So it appears tanks and AV are still unbalanced, and things continues to make no sence. That is why i bought a ps4
Gunloggi is highly maneuverable, madrugar is difficult to make turns.

AV =/= Completely dominate and render vehicles useless. AV = Counterpart of vehicles that combats vehicles.

Now currently armor tanks speed up to fast. And on top of that if you throw on a nitro mod they gain insane speed up time.
They need to cut the top speed in half and then lower there over all speed up time and it will fix most problems with armor tanks.
Armor tanks do have a big advantage because of this on infantry they do not really need hardeners because they can get out of town in no time. along with a constant repping of 100+ HP per passive armor repper. That always runs.
I can 2 clip a armor tank with a proto missile turret while running a damage mod. Without 2.5 on a well built one. Missile tank vs blaster tank equals win because it does not do enough damage to stop the shield regen when running a hardener. But if you run into a maddy running rail it is a battle bec ause the damn rail stops the regen on your shield. so it comes down teeth bared.
Missile turrets have to be direct hits or else you have to be hitting right on the toes of infantry to kill them so kind of sucks in that aspect. Along with missile turrets have the damn turn rate of a rail well a little faster but not much.
I feel shield tanks are in a amazing place right now. You got shock factor and can get out of the fight to regen. But if someone is smart and has a advantage on you as you leave the combat zone without hardeners they can pop you very very quick solo.
Forge gunners can still camp roofs so you get 2 proto forges on a roof and your ****** because they can cover the whole map while you can not do **** back to them.
So the major issues currently are: *Armor has insane top speed *Armor also has okay acceleration add in the nitro mod it makes it better acceleration then shield tanks *Shield lack lower mods. Really nothing worth while to use. Makes it boring in that aspect. Would not mind a small percentage decrease in speed and handling if they brought back nano fibers for shield tank that put them little above what we have now. But of coarse other mods need to come out to make it a choice between them. *Forges need range decrease but a damage put back to normal. AV should be out of effective range of tanks antiinfantry weapons but not so far away that they do not even render.
Once AV relearns how to engage tanks some of the OP feelings are going to disappear as tankers start getting killed very quickly during hardener cool down.
*I am not saying that tanks are not OP currently. I am saying they are not OMG OP. Small adjustments will fix half the issues. Tanks do need some aspect toned down. But little steps. AV learning how to play differently will fix the other half. Rules of engagement have changes. Tanks have a shock factor now when entering a battle. But AV learning how to catch them when they disengage will start slowing tanks down because tanks are paper during this time.

Cut the speed and cut the speed bonus given by nitro boosters. That way tanks can't jet out of trouble at dropship speed the moment they see their hardners turn off. They need to be watching their hardners and know when to get out, not rely on broken boosters.
That being said, as a Prof. 5 swarm user, tanks are in an interesting place right now. I'm not 100% sure that the length of hardners active time is just right, they seem to last a little too long when someone you know has max skill in them rolls along. If CCP plans to balance tanks with proto tanks in mind, the length of those hardners needs to come down a hair. But it can wait till the proto tanks get here, honestly if the speed issue were fixed I think there would be a lot less QQ. AV just has to learn when to fire and when to stalk it's prey waiting for the right time to pounce (of course it's impossible to stalk an 80MPH tank on foot, so that's still top of the list for fixes).

That being said, as a Prof. 5 swarm user, tanks are in an interesting place right now. I'm not 100% sure that the length of hardners active time is just right, they seem to last a little too long when someone you know has max skill in them rolls along. If CCP plans to balance tanks with proto tanks in mind, the length of those hardners needs to come down a hair. But it can wait till the proto tanks get here, honestly if the speed issue were fixed I think there would be a lot less QQ. AV just has to learn when to fire and when to stalk it's prey waiting for the right time to pounce (of course it's impossible to stalk an 80MPH tank on foot, so that's still top of the list for fixes).
Baal 100% agree with you. Speed issue is the biggest thing alot of that is coming from nitro of coarse.
They need to put armor tanks just above shield. Currently armor tanks are 3 times the speed of shield. If they decide it is a good plan to lower shield speed then I feel they need to improve acceleration a little. |

The tank speed is a glitch (with the militia nitrous at least)
Shields are extremely resistant to swarms because they dont stop the regen when a hardener is on.
They are waaaaaay cheaper
Av cant solo anymore altough if they hit you with hardeners down, you are dead.
Missiles are extremely powerfull against enemy tanks, extremely hard to use against infantry
Tank battles last way longer
Gunlogis are much more maneuverable than madrugars
All in all, I think it will be balanced if they fix the first two issues (unless the second one is a feature, which I am fine with)
Oh yea, jihad lavs are a thing now (REs stick on the bumper) :D

I went against tanks and all i can say is this. Combine need for speed, GTA and mario cart... I've barely seen a tank kill anyone. But i saw 4 tanks on each side all driving around very fast and soon someone please post a video of tanks doing donuts. lol AVs are weak, so are tanks. I'm guessing that's not intended. Or atleast i hope not |
