In-game, skilling up my equipment skills, I just got to proto nanohives and am loving the gallogi way of life. Something inherently satisfying about healing, reviving and reloading your team. I jump into proto assault though on principle when the need to kill overwhelms. Threw some points into the pc, hmg and sentinel/commando, they are situational fun even if not optimal. Not going above 3 though in the Amarr heavy
Please keep the protostomp comments to a minimum, my nature is to field the best I have at any given time, with very variable success of course.
Day one of 1.7, god my GA suit got ripped to shreds by all these combat rifles, didn't go positive the whole day. Kind of depressing ..., but the other guys probably enjoyed it.

I've got rail rifle proficiency 2, rapid reload 2, and ammo capacity 2. I just use the standard version on my regular assault suit, but I'm working on a commando fitting using at least advanced.
I gotta say, it's so fun to tear the armor off those gallente scumbags.

Same. I went ops 3 on both. I was originally never going to try the RR because Matari loyalty but decided that was a dumb reason not to try it out. I found in the end that CR was more my playstyle and that is what its going to come down to. I'm a **** poor shot, so something burst that I can feather but still conserve a bit more ammo than laying down the trigger is working out much better for me. Also, running in to revive someone often takes clearing the space. That up close combat works well for me with the CR.
Though I will say, I've been killed by an awful lot of RRs these past 2 days.

So basically most players went for the Rail Rifle, and the more skilled players went for the Combat Rifle. I guess I'll go for both when I get on Dust.

Kristoff Atruin wrote:I'm not really sure yet which way I'm going to go. I run minmatar logistics so I figured I'd be going combat rifle...better up close, lower fitting costs so I can use the better equipment. Problem is...I'm a mouse and keyboard user, and the range / shooting profile makes the normal burst variants of the CR extremely finicky about your sensitivity settings since mouse doesn't get any kind of aim assist / friction. I'm not entirely sure what the problem is...on a PC fps I'd have no problem with that weapon profile, and I have no issues sniping or using weapons with longer bursts of fire. If I switch to the DS3 I have a much easier time hitting things with the CR, and shooting with a controller is entirely alien to me.
On the other hand the full auto CR is awesome. If there was a cheaper variant of it I'd use it a lot. I'll probably use it on my more expensive fits. My cheap support logi fits might start using the rail rifle more. I didn't get much practice with it last night, but I did get a couple up close kills with it. The idea being to try and hang back from the front line a little or use cover to pick off longer range targets while the rest of my squad focuses on the closer ones.
I thought for this reason as well I'd be using the RR and scared of it at the same time. I started my logi journey in MDs and SMGs, but once range became a huge player, my suit never stood a chance against the ARs. When ScR came, it was even more vital that I had it to simply match their range. They were taking me out from across the map and I had to arm myself with something that could reach out and touch them back in time to find viable cover. However, I'm finding the CR is much more for me. I'm a bad shot, but have done significantly better with the CR on my controller. I find so many of my other team members are running RR that if I can avoid those in the distance, they'd take them down for me. The CR lets me get in to an area where team members are down and clear the room much more efficiently. I'll say that I've died plenty from RRs lately, but up close and personal, I think I'm winning out over the RRs with my CR.

Compared to the combat riffle, I don't understand why anyone would still use the Assault. I've given it to my heavies to replace their HMG too. |

not sayin RR needs adjusting but i have prof 5 and SS 5 in CR and lv1 in RR and the RR still kills folk quicker in CQC. same with AR i have prof 5 which is apparently according to CCP shortest range and highest damage which is basically bulls**t. AR is pretty much at bottom dps wise in CQC RR hipfire needs to be on par with a sniper rifle because atm the whole rifle balnce is a joke. you may as well go for scram or rail fotm than anything else. there should be balance and choice but there simple isn't

I do find it odd that the longest range weapon has the best hipfire spread... That's just asking for AutoAim and oober l33t kb/mers to go ham and punch some nutz.
Though personally i find Cr best. Chews up gallente's like a shredder to paper. Caldari's on the other hand...

I agree with an RR nerf to hipfire, but only to the Normal Variant. The only good thing is that the spread gets insane if you can't hit the target after about 10 shots.
The assault variant is supposed to have good hipfire.

The combat rifle is amazing. I'm a bit biased cause I run minmatar everything. If I were Caldari I'd be saying the rail rifle. Hip fire CR is where it is at. The assault variant is good but too short on ammo. I'll just use my assault SMG thanks. |

I won't lie I love it too, but I haven't seen one blue post acknowledging that it was meant to be added to the game. It seems like no one knows at CCP that it was part of the patch...
I've been asking for sticky REs since closes beta! :D But I'm scared it's a feature that will get pulled if it doesn't at least get an official after announcement : ( ;_; updated patch notes at least... |
