They should buff damage on other weapons then, cause right now only rifles are viable

Yeah, THAT is what I was worried about that.
Faster TTK evens/smoothens out the skill gap between noobs and vets. This means everyone will die more frequently, which means people who use AUR gear will have to purchase AUR gear more frequently.
The current TTK also falls between the TTK from other games like halo and battlefield.
It just makes sense. It's just something that we have to get used to I suppose. |

Actually he says he wants to make it just long enough that circle strafing and bunny hopping isn't viable.
Madness is the emergency exit. You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened.

First and foremost, combat should be fun. Long TTK is not fun if itGÇÖs the result of loose controls, poor aim assists or dance-strafing/bunny-hopping combat GÇô all problems that DUST has suffered from in the past.

He is basically saying he wants footwork to not matter in an engagement. Everyone should should just slowly turret around and hope for the best.
Jeez.
And I hate the use of the turn "bunny hopping" to mean any jumping at all. Bunny hopping specifically refers to an abuse of some quake engine physics to gain ridiculous speed by jumping and strafing. Just jumping around *IS NOT* bunny hopping.

TTK was too long in 1.3. I hope that's what he was referring to. I think 1.4 - 1.5 was pretty close to the sweet spot, but still a little too short. 1.6+ has been miserably broken IMO. Short TTK is the wrong way to balance noobs vs. vets (improved matchmaking, 2nd tier optional academy up to 2-5 million SP etc. would be better solutions for that).

Speed tanking is really unique feature in dust and EVE. Its a skill that needs to be perfectedn by the player. Why get rid of it? The advantage of strafing is avoiding bullets, and it still does that. What it doesn't do anymore is stop hits from registering. In other words, the game works much better now. |

not when ive tanked out my Logi suit as hard as i can, i don't even use damage mods on my logi suits.
the worst is when one doesnt even have enough time to ascertain where you are getting shot from.
And no not talking niche weapons like the sniper rifle MD or forge or cannon....
currently TTK is too short ..."imho"

Why even have dropsuits with different slot layouts, movement speeds or anything other than shields and armor modules. They're totally saving face here. They don't want to fix TTK because it's going to require work to do so. At this point they might as well make the game turn based since they don't understand FPS fundamentals. Hell, there's even strafing in CoD.
Now we jus got another middle of the road FTP CoD with a spreadsheet added for window dressing. I'm officially done.

The only reason I was continuing to play from time to time was my hope that CCP would increase TTK and make fittings other than armor/dual/damage tanks viable again.
My Plasma Cannon relies on a long TTK. Idk if I'm going to keep playing Dust anymore...

You misinterpreted what he said. As Spectral Clone points out, he said that TTK should be long enough that module choice matters. That means longer than the current TTK.
I expect they want to see data from all 4 Infantry Rifle variants before they do the TTK tweak. Hopefully we will see at least some minor tweaking in 1.8. |

I got BF4 on PC in bday present from my brother.
Good fps. Good platform (future proof). Good keyboard and mouse controls.
Havent installed it yet though :) Maybe I should not play dust tonight...

To be fair, the game was balanced around sh*tty hit detection. As the underlying engine has improved, balance adjustments need to be made. It would have been great if CCP could have made a flawless engine in Alpha, but it's not a realistic expectation. I just hope they realize that TTK needs to increase significantly or they are going to loose a lot of players. Peek-a-boo twitch shooting with scanner spam isn't a fun mechanic.

Also, did they "fix" it? It better still be the same weapon that it was before, or I really won't have a reason to play Dust anymore.

The work weGÇÖve done on aim and control systems has only really come together in the last few months, and this combined with recent changes to weapon range have been the biggest culprits behind the shorter TTK. ItGÇÖs taken us longer than weGÇÖd have liked, but I do believe that the second-to-second combat in DUST is more enjoyable than itGÇÖs ever been. Not perfect, but a lot better. DUST is very much a game about outcomes and so the TTK IGÇÖd like to see in DUST is one long enough for the differences in dropsuit fittings (be that higher damage, more HP or faster regen) to help shape the outcome, but short enough to not have to dance around my opponent until one of us is mercifully put out of our misery; that fine line where the edge given by twitch skill or a smart fitting blurs and the outcome becomes unpredictable. Beyond that, though, is the minute-to-minute battlefield experience, the sort of timescale where squad play, tactics and combined roles become a larger factor in the outcome of a firefight, and this is an area that will get significant attention going forward. |
