Why? it can be summed up in one sentence - awful new player experience. Yes you guys invested your time and your sp and deserve your proto gear, but if it's making people leave the game it is on the whole awful for the community. I really wish there was a way to split queues so that people with basic / adv'd gear would be tossed against like and people with proto gear would be tossed against like - other fittings would be invalid for the respective matches. Maybe call them 'elite' public/faction warfare contracts with slightly higher payouts or something. Planetary conquest would remain the same, because that's where your SP advantage should really shine. This probably isn't the best idea nor do I expect it to gain any real traction at all, but I think it might do something to fix the problem of 'proto-stomps'.

In EVE, there is this thing in Hi-Sec called CONCORD, killed you if you attacked people. (Unless it was a legal war.) We don't have that, as Public matches are Hi-Sec. Period. thats funny i was a proud ninja salvager. my job was to grief the ** out of high sec carebears by stealing, and blowing up their ships. theres LOADS of ways to kill people in high sec without concord getting involved that isnt a legal war :P ive killed and attacked many in high sec without concord intervention, and without first declairing war. im guessing your a high sec carebear, give me your character name and ill forward it to the tears alliance (if they are still around??) so that you can see exactly what i mean. make sure to take all the shiney ** off your mission boat before hand though :P not only that but theres no paralell between the two situations, it would be like outlawing T2 in high sec and resticting it to low sec and 0.0 buck up and learn to kill proto suits using basic gear like i do.

You've gotta explain to me how you attacked someone without CONCORD intervention... unless you drew them in with an "easy score", making them a criminal first.... If you wanna know, I'm Luna Pryde. Not afraid of anyone, although I just started.... I read a lot of stuff, never once did I see mention of Hi-Sec letting you attack. I saw that you could defend yourself, though, or attack criminals. EDIT: I DO kill Proto with my Basic and ADV gear, this is for the newcomers. Names of playstyles

I always wanted to be a pirate, anyways. google up some old stuff about ninja salvaging and the tears alliance :P theres a few blogs from about 2 years ago when it got very popular that give LOADS of informationa nd examples of mechanics abuse to get started doing your shady buisness out in space. i once pissed off a corp of about 20 or so russians.... they war deced my 4 man corp and before i knew it... that corp grew to about 100 members prepairing to grief the living crap out of some russian carebears.... that war was canceled pretty damn fast.

Then the team that loses the most of it's own players will start the game with a disadvantage and likely go on to lose. Would you rather have a decent sniper who goes 10-0 or 15-2 or fight with one less guy for the whole game? If you grief me, I'm going for a stroll in my militia fits. The difference between a proto setup and an enhanced setup is what? 0,2 sec? I win most my 1 vs 1 fights with a lot bigger margin than that. The really big difference between my cal enhanced (or rather would be, I haven't really used it), and the proto is more DPS, granted, but most noteably its the difference between two compact hives for myself, or an allotek hive and a proto medkit for my fellow bluedots. (Yeah and a better scanner, no biggie in pubs.) Same HP, same speed, a litlle less stamina. The "you are good cause you use proto", is old, and mostly an excuse for bad players to justify their own scrubbiness.
