I was inspired by Shotty go bang scout registry/killboad that I thought us heavies should have a place we can talk about our issues and gripes. Tell stories of our exploits and declare that we are heavy dropsuit users. I don't know if I'll do as good a job as Shotty but I'll try.

I suspect this will be very empty after the forge gun nerfing.
I USED to play a heavy. Still have proto FG , HMG, and suits but i dont see me using them much after 1.7
Next thing you know CCP will "adjust" our movement speed because we are able to walk from 1 line to the other in 1 match and that will be deemed OP for a heavy. |

I'm gonna be playing heavy for a while.
My only real gripe is with the lack of a Caldari Sentinel to use it with.
For best results press R1 repeatedly. Consult your doctor if your erection persists for more than four hours.

I really want a big-ass sword. I realize that is a longshot and way back in chromosome I envisioned the Concussion Hammer. Needs to be updated with current damage types.

Just wanted to leave this here for you as Fair Warning. The Scout Registry had a great run, but in the end it probably did Scouts more harm than good. Six months of data collection, 250 pages of focused feedback, and we Scouts are worse off now than we were in 1.0. So I shut it down.
For what it's worth, here's what I think happened:
Just like Heavies, Scouts got hit hard with Uprising 1.0. If we had never organized, the vast majority of us would've either quit Dust or moved on to other frames. CCP might have said to themselves "looks like we have a big problem with the Scout suit ... look at how their numbers are slumping ... let's prioritize fixing them ... maybe give 'em something unique to attract folks back."
Instead, we united and became a bunch of rabid killers, swapping best practices and build suggestions, all racing for the next Tier on the Killboard, all making the best of a disgustingly bad situation. So CCP says to themselves "looks like we've done a great job with Scouts ... high fives all around ... look at how active they are ... look at how they're playing together and having so much fun ... they even a nice little home on the forums where they talk about ... what do they even talk about? ... all those pages ... who knows ... let's go make some new Rifles."

I appreciate the info. This is just a registry for heavys to be known and swap stories. This is not a killboard. We just want a place to vent our frustrations an speak out hopes for the heavy class. Thank you for your service on the scout registry. Your thread helped open my mind about scouts problems I would otherwise have not known about.

I'm specced deeply into heavy/HMG. The only skill I'm holding out on is Sentinel--not convinced it's worth the 2.4M SP, when compared to expanding into a different role.
I love being the underdog, so with my HMG almost maxed out, I've been thinking about jumping into Commando. On the other hand, I've always liked playing medic/engineer roles in other games, and my second most frequent role is a militia medic (with the Skinweave Minmatar suit that has two equipment slots).
My perspective on the heavy role as other suits and weapons come out is that the heavy should be the field commander's secondary tool for controlling the flow of the battlefield (the first being HAVs, which should be limited by the maps so there's a lot of the battlefield they can't control in detail). With this as a philosophy, it makes more sense for heavies to be able to counter vehicles because they are both manipulating battlefield flow. This also makes sense of the scout's role in countering heavies, as they reconnoiter, flank, remove obstacles, and pick off solo players, but are not suited to intense firefights.
All this to say, I don't think future heavy weapons specifically need to be devastating in terms of raw damage (although it makes sense for the heavy to have at least one such weapon that's devastating specifically to clustered enemies), so long as they're effective for controlling the flow of the battlefield. Get creative with it! |

True. Compared to CCP's standard practice of nerfing things completely useless this is technically a step forward.
Besides how bad can things really be? I haven't lost a single heavy suit in 40 games. Unlike my Minja or Winmatar Logi fits that I have to restock.

Ooh me! Add me! I've always wanted to be apart of a list.
As for heavy stories, I had my best moment in Dust a few days ago.
There I was, with my Advanced Heavy frame and trusty DAU-2/A Forge Gun. My team of blueberries was being annihilated by a squad of proto-stompers from some corp called Naiyin/NayNay/Nayan Cats/Whatever. It was difficult to get anything done, especially with this damn Madrugar and two LAVS running around the place. Over the course of the match I gradually chipped off some of the HAV's Armor, but success was looking dim. Then, the planets aligned ever so nicely. The enemy HAV drove past me without notice and began firing on some helpless teammates, and as I began charging up to put a rail slug up its rear, BOTH enemy LAVs decided to join the HAVs slaughter. One shot off, the HAV bursts into a pile of scrap. I immediately launch a second slug destroying one LAV, and then a third shot takes out the other LAV. Within an 8 second time frame I single-handedly destroyed all of the enemy's armor. Sadly, we still lost that match, but damn that 8 seconds of destruction felt good.
Just you wait. One day, all will fall to their knees before the fatty overlords.

Started to spec heavy from Chromosome, dumb time to start but if the once feared Heavy is to be so feared again it'll have been a nice experience starting at the bottom.
Currently:
Adv suits and "Neo" Proto Sentinals (Not going to spec to full Proto until all other skills are at a suitable level)
Proto HMG's
Lvl 5 on all of the armour tree (the benefit of former Gallante assault spec)
4/5 on the HMG tree
Only Lvl 2 Forge
Lvl 3 on the SMG tree
Lvl 3-5 on Passive skills
Question, is a Boundless for all seasons or it it a case of choosing Freedom, Six Kin or Boundless (or Forge for that matter) dependant on the map? |

Depends on your entry requirements but my alt Caca Forte is a dedicated heavy. He's waiting for his suit to come back from the tailors but is active.
Sad really, on that character I do better in the Frontline starter fit with zero skills in AR than a Adv HMG with enhanced damage mods

Each HMG definitely shines in a slightly different light. Boundless is good for real close quarters stuff, where the enemy is right at the end of your barrel. Freedom is better suited for medium range. I find the assault HMGs are effective at a pleasantly surprising distance. The Six Kin is a strange beast. I don't believe it has any more range than a Boundless(It might, but I'm not sure), but if you can keep your reticle on target you will melt faces with a burst HMG. The Six Kin is also good for giving stationary targets a nasty surprise.
Then of course for large open-area maps, a forge gun is a good option for hanging back and picking off targets at a distance. Normal or assault are both good, I don't really care too much for the breach variant. Too many draw-backs, not enough damage. I personally prefer a normal forge gun so I can hold a shot while I aim, but its hard to go wrong when choosing which forge gun to use.
Just you wait. One day, all will fall to their knees before the fatty overlords.

Freedom - the weakest of all three with horrible up close damage and a lackluster range bonus. IMO just use a boundless.
Boundless - is by far the most used and easiest to handle when up close or at a distance. It provides kill potential at close and medium range and has a continuos fire potential unlike the six kin.
Six Kin- "gods hand in CQC" this is the most powerful of all the hmgs at close and medium range. Its long range potential is atrocious unlike the boundless and freedom. why you ask? the reason is all it does is weaken them up while someone takes it with a ar or sr during your burst cycling. but any suit besides a fully specced out proto medium frame and heavy frames will get insta killed with a burst or two. So what i'm saying is if you have accuracy use it , but if not just stick to the boundless.

I usually play a scout, as (*redacted*)
but I keep this alt around, as a "unlock and try out every weapon!" toy.
Recently, now that I unlocked a "real' (non-militia) heavy, I decided to try it out, with the traditional HMG.
wow. I had *FUN*!
And the fact that I have 3x the HP of normal, means that I could actually have noticably positive KDR!
Most of the times I died, it was two-against-one kinda situations.. and I usually took one of em with me!
So.. yeah. Fun!
I'm having sick fantasies, though..
Things like, maybe eventually getting into advanced heavy frame, then proto dampeners.... and throwing the 2xlow slots into a heavy that DOESNT show up on people's radar.
MUAH-hahhaha... the slow, silent, deadly WADDLE OF DOOOMMM!!

I went face to face with another heavy on the weekend. Dont know what he started with, tank wise. But I was using HMG, with 2xADV damage mods, and probably 1 armor, 1 repper.
He was using... an assault scrambler rifle.
We both started full, faced each other, and started firing until one of us dropped.
He cut me down first.
At around 20m.
This aint right.

Add me on here as well. I have an alt specifically for heavy repping. If you need a logi, add X-eon or message in game. I prefer the Mlr cause it gets the job done.
In a skirm once, I was in a squad with 3 core rep logis and 2 other heavys on the map where Charlie is underground, Alpha is is the upper part of the map and Bravo was indoors. We were up against two full squads of Contract Hunters and staved them off of Bravo after they had captured the other 3 objectives the rest of the match. 12 full proto'd players and some blues on their side laying seige to Bravo and none of them could get a foot in the door. Each heavy covered an entrance and it was magnificent. All three of us went 24+ and the logis each had their own orbital.
I may be slow, but don't let me find you in a narrow hallway.

I will update the thread tomorrow. Away from my computer( holidays and all). I had the most fun today playing with 4 other heavys and 1 logi. We took the enemies home objective right as they got there. We held it the entire time. Lavs were destroyed in a hail of hmg fire. Dropships were not even a match for 5 hmgs. We destroyed our opponents. It was awesome.

I stuck with the HMG through pre-hotfix 1.7 because the love of being an HMG heavy is the only reason I play this game. 95% of my kills (and deaths) have been in a standard Amarr Sentinel A-1 with an MH-82.
