I use this thing often and you cannot tell me it is not ridiculous in CQC. I disagree about the range part. It honestly will be outperformed by a lazy AR user at any range. It's "OP" when a select few people are good with it.
Similar to how people think tanks are OP because they can't kill a smart tanker. Or how a good scout can go 30/1.
It does either need
- RoF cut (10-20% max)
- Accuracy cut while hip firing

The frontline rifles were balanced off of bad HD, CCP wanted them to still be good despite this so gave them game breaking numbers. With HD "working" these numbers are coming out in full force, its just TTK did not go down because nothing change TTK went down because it made rapid fire much more powerful. Its not just the ScR either, but the ScR is one of the broken weapons, yes.

Any opinions on this ?? Because the flaylock was clearly broken, and the Scrambler rifle was one of the few weapons recently that CCP actually delivered in a fairly balanced state. Now recently its seen a spike in popularity, certainly, but it has not actually changed or gained any power (save for the range buff in 1.7) . The perceived power of the weapon has far more to do with the (now declining) popularity of shield fits, which the scrambler rifle absolutely wrecks. All in all though - scrambler and assault rifles are both very solid, competitive weapons. All that to say - correlation =/= causation. People cried over the Flaylock because it was actually broken. CCP fixed the Flaylock because it was broken, not because people cried. And now, word is spreading that the Scrambler rifle is actually good and thus victims are complaining more (which they do about any weapon they frequently die to whether its OP or not). If the complaints about the Scrambler had been consistent all the way back to Uprising 1.0 it would be one thing.....but the community accepted that it was fine at the time, and for the most part it still is. As far as the future goes - too early to tell. CCP will watch how all this plays out with the new rifles, but Scrambler rifle users need not fear the nerfbat for the immediate future. Just because people are crying about it does not mean CCP recognizes it as a problem. If they do, I've missed a post or comment somewhere.
The ScR is beyond broken and that is not even with the Amarr bonus which just makes it retarted.
For starters, you do not give a ranged weapon high stopping power and High RoF.
However I will go with the flow, its not me who will be getting smashed by it.

How does that then compare to other light weapons? What dropsuits are being killed the most by the ScR? How often are damage mods being fitted to ScR wielders? from what I see of it, in the right hands the SCR is extremely lethal.
when I use it, its not so great as I am slow at clicking the trigger.
saying that I honestly think that the AR crowd QQ anytime a non AR kills them, also shield tankers will suffer more than most. personally I would reduce the potential ROF a little and then its fine imo.

That said a corp mate demonstrated that he could empty a clip and a half of the assault variant (no glitch) and only then overheat. Doesn't sound like much of a compensation to me.

The ScR is great against shield tanked suits but most of them time I have to almost over heat my weapon to kill a decent armor tanked medium suit and I cannot kill a heavy without overheating the weapon, and that is with a proto weapon and double damage mods. I mean heavies have so much HP with out be a shame if you could kill them quickly... o wait, I can do that with the AR and no damage mods with ammo to spare in about 1.5 seconds. |

Balance is such a subjective term. If the ScR and AR are "balanced" then all the other weapons are extremely lacking. Buff those weapons to "balance" levels and let's watch the TTK go even lower. But it's only fair right?
I like the ScR because it pisses off the AR users to no end but cmon AR class>all other weapons in this game. It's not even close. |

And yet I have hardly met anyone other than the well known names to give me a challenge, your'e all trying to balance a weapon by its effectiveness at killing Dumb shield tankers, MLT and STD sutis in public contract games where people run around like headless chickens waiting to be taken out in under a second.
In PC the weapon is balanced against everything else; its extremely powerful in the right situation but will lose a prolonged fight up close, even with an Assault ak.0.

In regards to AR, yes I do think it's clip size is way to much ( could be halved )
And it looks like I have upset quite a few SR users, but a couple here have the sportsmanship to agree its OP so obviously if there is a chunk of the playerbase being OHK by it and it's own users agree it's OP
then , something needs to be looked at as I don't use it I won't suggest anything , you guy's are better suited |

CLONE117 wrote:the only thing that needs nerfing to tone down scrambler rifle power is the nerfing of a specific fitting.
the scr alone on its own works pretty good for me on my cheap core skill specced into mlt fits.
i dont actually think the gun with nothing but base stats unspecced into is op it self.
id say its just the higher tiered fits that may need to be toned down a little.
now with the stats incorporated into the scr with a certain amarr dropsuit and all the cooldown skills maxed out u can fire the semi auto version for an extremely long time. and get off several extremely powerful charge shots as well.
i only see a few possible fixes without breaking the weapon and making it useless though.
one possible fix could be reducing fire rate to some where around the current tac ar. and possibly increasing dispersion for it but its a laser weapon and the second option might make it less effective in cqc but it just doesnt sound like something a laser weapon would have.
and sadly armor doesnt feel like it helps vs the scrambler rifle.
This is pretty much it - the fire rate... if they tone it down a bit I think the weapon will be balanced. |

Any opinions on this ?? Flaylock... nerfed? Even with the reduction in blast radius, I can still OHK people with my fully skilled flaylock pistol. The real secret is that if you fully spec out and practice enough with just about any weapon in this game, then it can own people when used properly. That is the point of any weapon after all.

Flaylock was too powerful and it got 'nerfed' but like people here have pointed out It still works, and I know it does , I use one
now we have the Scrambler Rifle, clearly too powerful nothing being done .... yet I am not asking for it to be nerfed to uselessness but c'mon ...... It's even more annoying than an AR and I F***ing hate AR's
So like we have clarified the Flaylock still works, so there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Scrambler users, It needs to be brought into line with other weapons which will be easier once RR and CR are released |
