What distance qualifies as CQC?
Are you saying this to defend your precious HAVs?
What drugs are you smoking, and may I please have some?
If you thought 400m was bad, then what is 550m?
Yeah, I bet you didn't know that Large Blasters even had that range did you?
And this ain't a joke, except for the part about Large Blasters being a CQC weapon. That's a hilarious joke.
And I finally managed to snag a picture of this this.
I wasn't even in a vehicle. I was in my plain old ADV logi suit.
Do you guys believe that this is a problem?

This mean's that it is quite possible, and with a little bit of elbow grease and luck, anybody could do this.
Also, I don't use Blaster Maddys for the almost the same reason that I no longer have MLT ARs on my Starter Fits.

So a couple things hilariously wrong about this thread.
1. Your antagonistic attitude really is doing you no favors, it's one thing to be smug and quite another to be smug and wrong.
2. Your picture doesn't qualify as proof. Note that the kill feed is listing a Large Blaster INSTALLATION. I see no reason to believe that the stats for HAV Large Turrets and Installation Large Turrets are in anyway analogous, especially with respect to range.
3. Here are the Large Blaster Turret (for HAVs) listed Effective and Optimal Ranges for 1.7 (assumption being range units in meters) Effective Range : 89.6m Optimal Range : 160m

Missiles are my favorite turrets are Missiles, and I don't see what the problem is with running them on a Madrugar. Just like dropsuit can fit any weapon in it's tier, Missile turrets should be available for all vehicles.

Heck, one time I turned my hardners and nitrous on and F***ing Flattened a Gunnlogi. I didn't fire at him or anything. I F***ing crushed him by running around in circles and driving on top of him.

My furthest kill was about 90m
Though we are firing very large calibre plasma sheathed rounds....
what ever you did you were either unlucky because something else was firing at you....I have never seen an unmanned large blaster fire at anything further than 100m away.
Its also hilarious...since at 543m most players couldn't even see you. Not the gun it self's fault, the issue is the AI that can target at that distance.

Yes and I backed over a madrugar and instapopped literally in half a second I dropped all of his armor. If missiles were meant for armor tanks they would have more PG they should not be superior to the blaster in tank battles yet require less fitting so you can have more DPS and more HP, CCP screwed up they were supposed to make them Caldari decreased PG increased CPU which is what Gunlogi's have but they didn't increase the CPU cost enough. Armor missile tanks are scrubs.

Yeah, except HAVs have enough time to turn on hardners and nitrous to GTFO if they are being hit like that.
I noticed I was getting hit, but without a way to shoot up to 50-60% resistances and have super speed and be repped at incredible strength in a near instantaneous time frame, I died.

I'm not one to use real world equivalences in a game especially one set in the far future. but I think this adequately demonstrates the enormity of your comparison.
Cheytac M200 Intervention effective range: 2000+ yards or a little over a mile.
M1 abrams 120mm smooth bore effective range: 2.5 miles
you are comparing a man portable railgun to a blaster so big it needs a set of tracks. why in new eden would the railgun have better range.

No, I was comparing a Gallente weapon, which according to lore is supposed to be short range; to a Caldari weapon that according to lore is supposed to be long range. Though I do admit I could have worded this a bit better
Although, you can complain about my analogy comparing a vehicle weapon to an infantry weapon all you like. It won't make my analogy any less valid or invalid because the principal still applies.
A Gallente SHORT RANGE WEAPON should never have range compared to a Caldari LONG RANGE WEAPON. Even if it's mounted on a tank, infantry arms, or even a motherfluxing starship.

All large turrets on Installations DO NOT have the same range as HAV Turrets, there is a large difference between a kilometer-aware turret Blaster Installations and some HAV Blaster with a 40 meter optimum where anything past 60m is tickled and anything past 100 is dreaming.
A Turret Missile on an Installation can also shoot a kilometer, yet no HAV Large Missile can touch anything even a third of that distance.
Why are you bringing up HAVs in your original post as if you were shot by the same thing?

so... this was poorly thought through and took an unappreciated attitude. It doesn't have to be CQC, but when a Gallente blaster weapon has the range of a Caldari Sniper RIfle, that creates a problem. Heck, I wouldn't even care if it was 100-235m. But 550m? That's idiocy. That's like what, 50m away from a sniper rifle's max range? Even the freaking Thale's doesn't have the zoom fidelity of 550m. your kidding right, this is some kind of joke? we are seriously comparing the range of the primary on a main battle tank to the range of a large caliber sniper rifle. I'm not one to use real world equivalences in a game especially one set in the far future. but I think this adequately demonstrates the enormity of your comparison. Cheytac M200 Intervention effective range: 2000+ yards or a little over a mile. M1 abrams 120mm smooth bore effective range: 2.5 miles you are comparing a man portable railgun to a blaster so big it needs a set of tracks. why in new eden would the railgun have better range. No, I was comparing a Gallente weapon, which according to lore is supposed to be short range; to a Caldari weapon that according to lore is supposed to be long range. Though I do admit I could have worded this a bit better Although, you can complain about my analogy comparing a vehicle weapon to an infantry weapon all you like. It won't make my analogy any less valid or invalid because the principal still applies. A Gallente SHORT RANGE WEAPON should never have range compared to a Caldari LONG RANGE WEAPON. Even if it's mounted on a tank, infantry arms, or even a motherfluxing starship.
hint.....shotguns shoot to 50 yards......
unless you have a 120mm canister shot.....that b.itch goes to 500 meters
point being, a close range gun goes farther if its freaking huge

I'm going to assume that your either a troll, or don't realize that a Gallente weapon isn't supposed to have that kind of range.

I just wrote and deleted a paragraph or two about how the new CPU and PG values of vehicles made it so that it was much harder to reasonably fit Large Missiles on a Madrugar but it ends up being not all that bad if all you want to keep in your highs is a Nitrous for the speed and don't mind using ADV level large turrets. (I wanted the damage mods too). You can argue it's not as EFFICIENT as going Blaster because there's a lot of spare PG and you can't fit any plates but if you want your cake (Missiles) and eat it too (on a Gallente vehicle) then you gotta make some sacrifices I guess. The cool thing is that you don't need any fitting optimization skill of any kind in order to make this work.
Madrugar with Nitrous + AT-201 Large Missile Turret High : Complex CPU Upgrade + Nitrous (you have a lot of spare PG so you can use any level you want) Low : Complex Armor Hardener + Complex Armor Repairer + Ammo Expansion Unit Large Turret : AT-201 Large Missile Small Turrets :*can't fit unless you drop one of your lows to Enhanced or get some amount of missile fitting op.

Swarms will be useless against derpships while ADSs get 300HP of splash damage on small missile turrets, and I am seriously questioning having prof V, reload speed IV, and ammo count IV in a weapon that will be used for nothing but harassment.
Plus, I'm sure the LTBG will soon move to QQing about the FG and get that nerfed, so I might as well use something knowing that the LTBG won't QQ about it being able to damage their precious HAVs.

I used to get kills quite easily at ~260 meters with my Vayu and stabilized blaster . That was before almost everyone had a proto AV fit. Now my enforcers get popped far too easily. tis sad.
On a side note, could you possibly have hit that blaster with a stray bullet? Most turrets wont even look at you outside a certain distance, but the instant you pop 'em with a single bullet, they while whip around and spit all the fires of hell at you. |

Unfortunately Atiim, Blasters are meant for Short Range operations, they are Gallante Technology. The turret is designed to be proficient in urban combat areas.
Consequently Missiles will be rather good at any range depending on the accuracy. So I get skilling into your shield extenders if I were you.

I know it wasn't a stray bullet because it was the AI, not a person firing at me. I also know that it wasn't a stray bullet because the turret kept firing until I died.

why the kitten would you have a cqc weapon on a tank? "I really wanna utilize those tight corners and the natural agility of the HAV to it's advantage"
so... this was poorly thought through and took an unappreciated attitude. MY SNIPER RIFLE HAS A RANGE OF 450-500ish METERS BUT THE BLASTERS ON MY MEGATHRON HAVE A RANGE OF 14km. DA FAQ CCP FIX DIS!
size matters...
EDIT: mega fitted T2 void opt like 16ish max 30ish

Everything I stated is true.
I have way too much spare CPU left for my own good and when I turn my nitrous on I can easily run circles around most Gunnlogies.
And flattening him? It did happen, though I must admit that the pilot wasn't really that good...

LOL
Facts straight? Coming from a tanker who believes that PRO AV can OHK anything beyond MLT vehicles and poorly fit STD tanks, I find that statement to be pathetic.
And not a single thing I've said has not be said using anything other than facts, and can be replicated in game.
Except for this issue with the Large Blaster. I don't know how you could replicate the AI action

With the "size matters" argument, I could justify the horribly low TTKs and the fact that scouts get 1HK'd by an Assault or Scrambler rifle.

you could and scouts do, but the size is not significantly different light medium and heavy, they are all limited to man portable weapons and lights use the same weapons as mediums. tanks exist in their own class because their weaponry is significantly larger than infantries. it is so big it can't be carried by a man so they put it on tracks, why would a weapon so big and powerful that it needs tracks have comparable stats to something that can be carried by a man?
this is a losing fight, stop while you have your ...eeerrr sorry.
also I would like to point out that your argument will be completely invalid in 6 days. why? the new turret stats, opt 89.6m max effective 180m.
bringing up the point, why make this thread when it's contents are completely irrelevant.

The turret stats don't have to be compared to a weapon carried by a person. I think I should have worded by statement better, but I was comparing a Gallente short range weapon to a Caldari long range weapon. You can't tell me that any Gallente weapon should have the range to do that. By lore the Large Blaster's design is completely incorrect.
And what fight? I've yet to see any but 2 people here answer any of the questions in the OP. The only practically anyone has said was "I can believe you got taken out by a blaster turret at 550m". There is no fight here at all. It's just a bunch of idiots dodging the question.
"Do you believe this is a problem"?
