Simply post if you do or do not protostomp. There are no maybes or sometimes, it's black and white, either you do or don't. Also state the reason why you do or why you do not.
I'd really like to see the arguments and reasons for both sides of this coin so try and keep it civil.
I do protostomp.
Reason - I worked my ass off to get the skills to obtain my proto weapons, suits, and modules so I'm sure as hell going to use them. I also used BPO's frequently in order to accrue enough ISK to run my proto loadouts.

Me and my buddies decided to use only basic gear for a while and still stomped the team on "proto" levels.
We have also decimated a enemy team with 11 Q'd up people running ADV and PRO against a 5 man squad of Synergy and randoms. We ended up winning.
Player stupidity and or apathy to win is a major factor in getting pubstomped.
Our bluedots may have been random but they actually pushed and held objectives while we took them and without that we wouldn't have won the match.
P.S. Someone sent me mail saying we were tryhards that match....oh the hypocrisy. |

I do not protostomp. I use my basic or advanced suit in pubs and FW, and my proto fits in PC. Why run proto when I can still finish in the top 5 on the leaderboard, and make 3 times as much ISK ? I also like the challenge of killing proto suits with basic and advanced gear. I'm also a cheap ass, so that might be a factor as well, lol.

Typically I'm in advanced fits or BPO fits, though every so often if I'm running around with OSG I'll join in on the fun for a few matches. Other than that I'm flying my Incubus and losing ISK because I just fly for the thrill, the kills are just a bonus. FUUU PROTO SWAAARMS!! Stupid area denial weapons. I can't wait for that lock on range nerf.
Sadly the swarms are the least of our worries, 1.7 railguns do not look promising when it comes to our lifespan

I don't proto stomp.
Reason: player retention. I've had people quit the game while I was squadding with them. I don't want to see it happen on a daily basis.
And
I can do equally as good in an adv suit so it makes no difference to me

I do not, for 2 reasons.
1) I'd be a complete hypocrite if I did.
2) Player retention (the most important reason). I think it's important for the future of the game to give noobs a fighting chance. For those who say, bleh, it's Scotty's fault, fix matchmaking and the academy. I'm with you in the academy, but as for matchmaking, there just are not enough people on certain times of the day even if the matchmaking was great. You're just rationalizing.
There are plenty of things that make it hard to be a noob, whether it be the low TTK, the fact that you are or are not in a squad, passive bonuses, absurdly accurate "short range" plasma rifles, etc. All true but you still make the decision to go all proto, most of the other things you have no control over, or, like already mentioned, it would be foolish to do, like never being in a squad. If, like the OP, you have another reason you feel it's ok to run it, that's cool, but give that reason, don't blame it on game mechanics, that's a cop out.
So, long story short, ADV or lower for pubs, proto everywhere else if needed seems a good policy and that's what I do. I might bring it out if I'm up against a full proto team in a pub, I rarely have, but technically that's not protostomping. Probably be too expensive to be worth it, being from a smaller corp I don't have big fat PC farms to get ISK from.

In eve terms there is basically no limit to running a prototype fit, there is only suppose to be the cost factor involved since the saying goes 'don't fly what you can not afford to loose'. With the advent of manufacturing prototype gear will get more expensive as CCP will set the cost high on these kinds of items. It's almost better to run it now than to have to deal with that later. Nonetheless...I ran proto weapons in the first of the open beta, but I didn't need to run proto suits because without core skills all the way up your proto modules on your proto gear are useless PG/CPU eaters....Now I have all my core skills up, my proto suits, weps thanks to hitting the cap every week ,since SP could be accrued, I have been able run my fit to 100 percent efficiency since around the start of uprising and have a full understanding of what my suit is capable of...it's lovely.

Who the **** cares about proto stomping. If you can afford it - use it. It's not anyones fault that CCP can't design any modes to put a max meta level on gear to deploy with so new guys get stomped. It's also not our fault we were here on day 1 prepared to be awesome while everyone else was out having a 'life'

I run a 29k fit for pubs. I have only used Proto for the Quafe event and will be back to money among fits at the end. The difference between losing one pub fit and a Proto is 100k so I really don't see the need. Would rather pocket the difference.

I use Proto AR sometimes though... not sure if that counts as Protostomping.

We try not to, the Wolves are currently having our own event . Its Murder the Weak Week. We want those quafe suits. As a rule tho we would rather pull our guys back and let the reds come out and hack stuff. Its usually easy enough to take it back. At least the new guys get some sense of what dust can be. Hate to play the same dough bags over and over. We need new guys who enjoy the game a bit. We also host militia stomps, its too fun. |

...i have a method to my pub matches. i start the match out in a protosuit equipped with 8 drop uplinks. run around, throw them down, get a sense of what the other team is doing. ... hopefully change out of it before dying.
then the game becomes something of a weapons escalation for me, akin to the intro of worms 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV5AFxEnuBo
oh, you're playing with that? then i'll use ... x, y, z.
then, if i'm pissed off, enough or if there is just generally no threat whatsoever in sight on the other team, i'll pull out my protosuits and stomp face with my freedom mass driver. this is on both extremes of, losing and winning. when losing, i'll stake out a small piece of turf that i'll call my own, and be like, '*****! ah hell no, you ain't gettin' up in here cracker ass.'
most matches though i'm just japanese kamikaziing tanks with my wyrkomi swarm launcher. derp.
i rarely squad, because i want to cap as fast as possible. squadding is for after i've capped, when i just want to protostomp for kicks. so, yes, i protostomp. while capping though, i'm all business. |

i use protos only because i cant lose money despite using strictly proto. however i run in squads to proto stomp because if i run solo i'll just get thrown in w/ losing scrubs 90% of the time so why bother playing the garbage matchmaking roulette? i proto stomp so im not stomped with scrubs- nyain sans watch each others back, makes it hard to accept playing solo w/ trash blueberries when ur used to great squads like nyains. |
